Grand Jury Indicts Planned Parenthood Filmmakers

Texas grand jury charges investigators behind Planned Parenthood videos

A Texas grand jury has cleared a Planned Parenthood clinic of wrongdoing, and instead indicted two pro-life filmmakers who published videos alleging the abortion organization’s á la carte fetal organ harvesting.

On Monday, a Harris County Grand Jury charged Center for Medical Progress President David Daleiden and activist Sandra Merritt with “tampering with a governmental record,” a second degree felony. Daleiden was additionally charged with a misdemeanor count regarding human organ procurement.

Harris County District Attorney Devon Anderson said they were left with no choice but to charge the filmmakers after an investigation on the Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast clinic in Houston turned up clean.

“We were called upon to investigate allegations of criminal conduct by Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast,” Anderson said. “As I stated at the outset of this investigation, we must go where the evidence leads us. All the evidence uncovered in the course of this investigation was presented to the grand jury. I respect their decision on this difficult case.”

Following news of the indictment, Daleiden released a statement affirming his organization’s First Amendment rights and noting the charges also implicate the sellers of fetal tissue as well:

“The Center for Medical Progress uses the same undercover techniques that investigative journalists have used for decades in exercising our First Amendment rights to freedom of speech and of the press, and follows all applicable laws. We respect the processes of the Harris County District Attorney, and note that buying fetal tissue requires a seller as well. Planned Parenthood still cannot deny the admissions from their leadership about fetal organ sales captured on video for all the world to see.”

The investigation into the “Planned Parenthood TX Mega-Center” was sparked by a video released last August which showed Melissa Farrell, the director of research for Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast, discussing how to perform an abortion in a specific way to ensure “intact fetal cadavers.”

“So, if we alter our process and we are able to obtain intact fetal cadavers, then we can make it part of the budget that any dissections are this, and splitting the specimens into different shipments is this,” Farrell says, adding, “I mean that’s — it’s all just a matter of line items.”

Hours before the indictment was announced, Daleiden published an op-ed in USA TODAY calling Planned Parenthood’s lawsuits a diversionary retaliation tactic meant to obscure their crimes.

“It is telling that in Planned Parenthood’s new anti-First Amendment lawsuit, it is suing me for everything but defamation,” Daleiden wrote in regards to another lawsuit lobbed at his organization in California.

“The truth will continue to come out through the congressional probe, through the ongoing state investigations and through the frivolous lawsuit Planned Parenthood now brings in retaliation for its exposure,” wrote the CMP president.

“The facts revealed in the videos aren’t a cute look for Planned Parenthood. And no amount of Pepto-Bismol pink can overpaint it.”

The indictment also comes days after the Center for Medical Progress published their most powerful video yet, showing a collection of high level Planned Parenthood officials speaking off the record about the secrecy behind the company’s fetal tissue trafficking in not so discreet terms, with one specifically mentioning how “the headlines would be a disaster.”

“Planned Parenthood cannot deny that its own senior leadership is caught on camera participating in a widespread and organized violation of state and federal laws against fetal body parts trafficking,” Daleiden wrote last Tuesday on his organization’s blog. “Instead, Planned Parenthood can only attempt to distract the public and cover up the evidence of its lawlessness.”

Texas Governor Greg Abbott, who ordered an investigation into Planned Parenthood after the Center for Medical Progress videos emerged, said Monday the grand jury’s decision would not affect the state’s ongoing investigation into allegations of fetal organ harvesting.

Despite today’s decision in Harris Co. about Planned Parenthood Texas will continue to protect life & investigate practices.

Sprint fires 2,500 & other signs of economic slow-down

Fellowship of the Minds

The Obama Economic Recovery continues!

Sprint Layoffs

Sprint, the telecommunications company and the 4th largest wireless network operator in the U. S., is laying off at least 2,500 workers or 8% of its workforce.

Mark Davis reports for The Kansas City Star, Jan. 25, 2016, that the layoffs and cutbacks will mostly affect six customer care centers, but also include 574 other positions at Sprint’s headquarters in Overland Park, Kansas.

The wave of cut-backs is part of a months-long effort to slash $2.5 billion in spending across all parts of Sprint’s operations. It also marks the third round of cutbacks at Sprint in the last two years. In fall of 2014, Sprint had slashed 1,700 jobs and announced plans to cut 2,000 more. The latest layoffs of 2,500 are on top of those totals, bringing the announced job cut total to more than 6,000.

TED CRUZ NEEDS A CONSTITUTIONAL CONVENTION TO PASS THE NAU

NewsWithViews.com

“While, then, the constituent body retains its present sound and healthful state everything will be safe. They will choose competent and faithful representatives for every department. It is only when the people become ignorant and corrupt, when they degenerate into a populace, that they are incapable of exercising the sovereignty. Usurpation is then an easy attainment, and an usurper soon found. The people themselves become the willing instruments of their own debasement and ruin.” —James Monroe, First Inaugural Address (March 4, 2026)

Ted Cruz always tells the crowd what they want to hear, depending upon to whom he’s speaking. If you ask most Republicans who Ted Cruz is, they’ll likely tell you he’s an Evangelical Christian of strong conservative values and won’t compromise. He’s certainly spent all his time in the Senate during his attempted government shutdowns trying to convince people of that. Those Republicans would be wrong on both counts.

Think he isn’t a neocon? Here he is speaking at Heritage Foundation, one of the top phony rightwing shills for the NWO.

For all his allure as an outsider, Canada-born Ted Cruz is in fact an insider playing a role similar to the one Barack Obama played back in 2008 when his handlers portrayed him as the hope and change candidate out of nowhere. Ted Cruz set out to be an elitist from the very beginning.

From Jason Zengerle’s piece in GQ Magazine:

The elite academic circles that Cruz was now traveling in began to rub off. As a law student at Harvard, he refused to study with anyone who hadn’t been an undergrad at Harvard, Princeton, or Yale. Says Damon Watson, one of Cruz’s law-school roommates: “He said he didn’t want anybody from ‘minor Ivies’ like Penn or Brown.”

Ted Cruz was even John Boehner’s attorney when the latter was suing Democrat Jim McDermott over the alleged leak of an illegal tape-recording of GOP leaders. [Link]

Cruz’s insider connection is also a family affair. His wife, Heidi, is a Goldman Sachs vice president in Houston, Texas, according to her LinkedIn profile. She also served as an economic advisor for the Bush administration. In 2011, a Cruz campaign spokesman portrayed Heidi as “an expert on North American trade,” in other words she is savvy when it comes to globalist transnational trade deals like NAFTA, the single most destructive government move against the American worker in history. Remember Heidi Cruz is also a co-author of the North American Union which totally destroys American sovereignty, and she spent five years at the CFR drafting the NAU. Link Want to hear a bunch of bunk from Ted Cruz about his wife’s involvement with the CFR when he was running for the Senate? Watch the below video:

Gay Marriage

In June, 2015, Ted Cruz promised on NPR that opposition to gay marriage would be “front and center” in his 2016 campaign. In July, Cruz called the decision from the Supreme Court, “the very definition of tyranny.”

However, in December, it turns out that in a closed door fund-raiser, Cruz assured attendees that overturning gay marriage wouldn’t be among his top priorities as President. In this Politico article, you can listen to the secret tape from a New York fundraiser.

Immigration

When it comes to immigration, Cruz has had a hard-line response, until it looked like the political winds were shifting in favor of legalization, and a pathway to legal status for immigrants already within the country. On Fox News, in 2013, he changed his stance to earnestly support that legal pathway. The original video was scrubbed from the internet. However, watch this recent interview with Bret Baier asking Cruz about his flip flopping stances on amnesty.

Cruz once proposed an immediate increase in the base H-1B cap from 65,000 to 325,000. Cruz offered the H-1B increase as an amendment in 2013 to the Senate’s comprehensive immigration bill.

The pro-amnesty Club For Growth (CfG) gave Cruz $705,657. It begs the question: Who is Cruz lying to; CFG who is for open borders, or the American people who don’t want open borders? There are too many obvious contradictions. Remember too, that CfG spent $3.3 million on attack ads against Donald Trump because he refused to donate $1 million to them, and for good reason.

In fact, for every hard line in the sand that Cruz has said he won’t cross, he’s gleefully stepped over when the politics of the moment called for it. Defunding Planned Parenthood? Not so much now. Repealing Obamacare? It’s the law of the land. Stopping the Iran deal? The deal got done. The list of hard stances Cruz has earnestly taken and subsequently abandoned goes on and on, just as he earnestly supports everything that he’s saying at that very moment. LikeMachine Gun bacon, which still isn’t a thing in Texas.

If you need any further convincing of the scale of Cruz’s ego, you only have to check out the over 15 hours of B-Roll footage his campaign has made available on Youtube. The part where his mom gives him an epic eye-roll when he claims she spends hours a day in prayer over him is the best.

Another example of the legendary scale of Cruz’s ego, shortly after an inappropriate cartoon lampooning Ted Cruz for trotting out his young daughters as political props was published, he sent out an email decrying the attack against his family and asked for more money to help defend his kids.

Ted Cruz Wants a Con-Con

From the Convention of States website come this: Ted Cruz immediately declared his support for Mark Levin’s book, The Liberty Amendments upon its release. He posted a link on his Facebook page and wrote, “Mark’s book sparks an important discussion about how to fix the problems that face our Republic.” As well, check out Ted’s article in the National Review where he promotes a Convention.

Really Ted Cruz? You really believe a Constitutional Convention will fix the problems our Republic faces? Excuse me Ted, but the founders gave us everything we need. The problem is that the legislative, executive and judicial branches of our government do not want to follow what they’ve sworn an oath to.

In a conversation with Bob Menges, the South Carolina director for the Convention of States (COS) Project, Cruz reiterated his support for the movement. Here’s a list of “endorsements” from the COS website. It includes, Sean Hannity, Allen West, Mike Huckabee, Tom Coburn, Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin, Bobby Jindal, and AMAC, which is heavily advertised by neo-con, Laura Ingraham. [Link] Many believe these people and organizations are true Conservatives. Some may be misguided, but I highly doubt it.

The lawyers sure aren’t misguided, they easily understand exactly what they’re doing. Non-lawyers like Beck and Palin may not, but they aren’t the sharpest knives in the drawer anyway, and I doubt they’re misquided.

Ted Cruz however, is unequaled in his hypocrisy and treachery. He knows perfectly well that we will need a new Constitution to change our status from a sovereign nation to a member State in the North American Union. Remember,Ted’s wife, Heidi, was on the CFR Task Force to write up the plan for the NAU. He absolutely knows about the Parliament which the Plan sets up over Canada, the United States, and Mexico! The Parliament will consist of fifteen members (5 from each nation) to rule over the NAU. The North American Union would be yet another collective regional government, a new North American Soviet, that would clearly be the enemy of United States sovereignty.

If you do not understand the dangers of a Constitutional Convention today, with all the leftists in power on both sides of the aisle, and the faux conservatives pushing this destruction, then please avail yourself of the many articles on same by Publius Huldah, the John Birch Society, Phyllis Schlafly, and many others, including the Father of our Constitution, James Madison.

In my previous article, Ted Cruz, Henry Kissinger and the Globalists, I exposed many of the power players behind Cruz. In a recent article by the New American, author Joe Wolverton tells of even more who have been hired. The following is from that article, Ted Cruz’s Closest Counselors are Neocons:

Cruz’s Foreign Policy Advisor is James Woolsey

Woolsey was a national security specialist and former Director of the CIA under the Clinton administration. He heads up many Neoconservative groups including being the Chairman of the Foundation for Defence of Democracies, and Founding Member of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy.

More than just academic advocacy of the military-industrial complex and the global deployment of American troops to force democracy on the world, Woolsey has no problem putting the noose around those who act against the growth of the government.

In a December 2013 interview with Fox News, Woolsey made the following shocking statement when asked about NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden: “I think giving him amnesty is idiotic,” Woolsey said. “He should be prosecuted for treason. If convicted by a jury of his peers, he should be hanged by his neck until he is dead.” [Link]

That’s not just think-tank rhetoric, that’s reign-of-terror-type talk.

Elliot Abrams Also Helps Craft Cruz’s Foreign Policy

Ted Cruz’s choice of Elliot Abrams to help craft his foreign policy is disappointing. Like his colleagues on Cruz’s council, Abrams is a leader in the neocon world, and he is a leader of what is perhaps the most powerful and pernicious group in the neocon network: the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR).

Elliott Abrams, Speaking at CPAC, Feb., 2012

While the CFR is the most notorious of the associations of Abrams, it isn’t the only one. He is also a member (or former member) of the Center for Security Policy, Hudson Institute, National Endowment for Democracy, and many more.

It is likely that it is because of the membership of Abrams in the CFR that George W. Bush chose him to be his deputy national security adviser for Global Democratic Strategy, and that Ted Cruz has chosen to follow his advice on questions of foreign policy. Remember Iran-Contra? Abrams was pardoned for his involvement in same by George H.W. Bush.

In fact, it is probably the experience of all these people that compelled Ted Cruz to choose them to be his closest advisors.

The problem isn’t that his inner circle is composed of men and women of vast foreign policy experience; the problem is that their experience is in growing government, supporting surveillance, and using American troops as global peacekeepers. As constitutionalists know, each of these endeavours — pursued over and over by Cruz’s chosen advisors — is unconstitutional and not at all consistent with Ted Cruz’s public statements.

Obviously, Cruz has no problem climbing in bed with the enemies of freedom to gain the presidency. He is a globalist, just as those he’s chosen as advisors are globalist elitists. Those who are supporting Cruz with their monies are globalists as well. If you want a close look at who Mr. Cruz will owe, check out this article by Coach Collins. All the data is available at opensecrets.org.

In the next article, we’ll discuss both Ted Cruz and his father, Raphael Cruz, their affiliations with the phony rightwing, and their religious beliefs. Please, click on “Mass E-mailing” below and send this article it to all your friends in Iowa.

JONAH, THE WHALE, AND A SECOND CHANCE WITH TRUMP

NewsWithViews.com

If you have an important point to make, don’t try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time - a tremendous whack. —Winston Churchill

One ought never to turn one’s back on a threatened danger and try to run away from it. If you do that, you will double the danger. But if you meet it promptly and without flinching, you will reduce the danger by half. Never run away from anything. Never! —Winston Churchill

Every year I’ve tried to do a Christmas article that will touch the hearts of NWVs readers. In 2012, I wrote, “The Christmas Thing,” and in 2014, “Kissed By God.” I believe both articles were written, not by me, but by the Holy Spirit who inspired me. This year is a little different approach.

The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is a God of second chances. How many second chances he gave to His beloved Israel in the Old Testament, and howmany second chances He gives to His people today when we stumble and fall. Yes, God gives second chances, and sometimes reprieves, even to nations.

Remember the story of the city of Nineveh, Jonah, and the big fish? The entire story is only four chapters long in the book of Jonah. It starts out with God telling Jonah to go to the great city of Nineveh and cry out against it because of its wickedness. Jonah ran from God because the last thing he wanted to do was to go to evil Nineveh. So Jonah paid the fair for travel on a ship to Tarshish. A fierce storm arose and the seamen even threw cargo overboard to lighten the load. The Captain of the ship wanted to know who brought this storm upon them, so lots were cast and Jonah was found to be the guilty party.

They asked Jonah what they should do to stop the tempest, and Jonah told them that since he was the cause, to toss him into the sea. What awaited was a great fish that swallowed Jonah up. He was in the belly of this fish for one 24 hour period and parts of two other 24 hour periods which makes up three days. Each part is counted as a full day.

Jonah prayed and the Lord told the fish to vomit Jonah out of its belly onto dry land. At this point Jonah knows there’s no escaping going to Nineveh and preaching what the Lord tells him to preach. So, Jonah went and told Nineveh they’d be overthrown in 40 days unless they repented and returned to God.

The King of Nineveh sat in sackcloth and ashes, a symbol of sorrow, repentance, helplessness, and despair. So what does Jonah do? He gets angry because he knew God would spare the Ninevites if they repented, and he did not want these enemies of Israel to be spared. Jonah forgot that God spared him even though he was disobedient. So, Nineveh was spared for a time at least. Can the Lord spare America? I believe He’s giving us a second chance, but perhaps the last one.

Presidential Candidate, Mr. Donald Trump

Obviously Donald is no Jonah, but he has come to preach the truth to America, a truth we’ve not heard out of Republican candidates’ mouths for over 50 years. The fact is that Donald Trump is not a globalist, new age puppet whose strings are pulled by the masters of America’s destruction. This makes him quite dangerous to the elitists on the right and left.

Mr. Trump isn’t perfect, but he listens to the people, and he can be educated on the many unconstitutional laws that have been passed and need to be erased. Those who dislike Trump say he’s brash, a braggart, cocky and narcissistic. In a recent article in Town Hall, the author told of a Trump hater who said we needed another Winston Churchill instead. Obviously, the Trump hater didn’t realize what a mouth Mr. Churchill had on him. Winston said exactly what he was thinking every time. Mr. Trump has not done that. What Trump has stated is the same thing American taxpayers have been saying to each other, especially about Islam and the illegal alien refugees. This is why he resonates with the people.

Other Trump haters have said that Trump doesn’t meet the Christian criteria. One article went on to mention some of the Bible heroes and how well they’d fare in a presidential run. Moses wouldn’t stand a chance because he murdered a man, had a terrible temper, and was married to Zipporah, a black woman. Of course King David wouldn’t make the cut either as he lusted after a married woman, took her as his own, had the husband murdered in battle, and then admitted it all. Others were mentioned, Samson, Abraham, and even Jesus Christ who roasted politicians.

Paul of the New Testament would never pass muster as he’d killed many Christians himself before he came to faith. The MSM would have a field day with all of these Biblical heroes. What the MSM doesn’t know is that a huge amount of Christians love Mr. Trump.

Trump looks pretty tame compared to our men of the Bible, but Trump knows what has happened to America and like us, he doesn’t like it. He wants to make America great again, and because he’s beholden to no one, he can say exactly what he wants to say and expose the reality of what’s happened to our beloved country. When the left, right, and MSM go after him, he brushes them away like a pesky insect.

Phyllis Schlafly believes that Trump is the “Last Hope for America“, I agree. I believe God is giving us another chance with Mr. Trump. He’s an outsider, and he’s a skilled and brilliant businessman who could run this nation quite well. Will we have a Nineveh, a respite from the destruction? I believe we have the chance, and that God is handing it to us on a platter. It’s now up to us. Please pray for this man, pray for our country, and cover Mr. Trump with a hedge of protection. God willing, we can turn the tide with Donald Trump at the helm.

Watching the events of the occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Headquarters unfold has been nothing if not an incredible learning experience and based upon that, my conclusion is that Ammon Bundy’s act of civil disobedience was a courageous act by a great man. He called the world’s attention to U.S. government agencies that engage in criminal behavior behind the shield of government force. In his treatise on Civil Disobedience, Henry David Thoreau wrote:

If the injustice is part of the necessary friction of the machine of government, let it go, let it go; perchance it will wear smooth, –certainly the machine will wear out. If the injustice has a spring, or a pulley, or a rope, or a crank, exclusively for itself, then perhaps you may consider whether the remedy will not be worse than the evil, but if it is of such a nature that it requires you to be the agent of injustice to another, then I say, break the law. Let your life be a counter-friction to stop the machine. What I have to do is to see, at any rate, that I do not lend myself to the wrong which I condemn.

Thoreau was writing about slavery but aren’t the ranchers living under the tyranny of an agency that engages in criminal behavior living in slavery too? The particular conditions of the enslavement matters not, to the slave. Ammon Bundy and the occupiers at Malheur put their lives on the line to be a counter-friction to stop the machine and whether anybody agrees with me or not, I will always have the utmost respect for them for doing it.

The mainstream media and some of the alternate media have denigrated Ammon Bundy for his actions. That is to be expected from the mainstream media. They want blood and bodies and a simple story for simple minds. We expect more from the alternate media but they don’t always deliver either. Just like the mainstream, when money conflicts with the truth, money wins. Somewhat in their defense however, it must be said that without money, there would be no alternate media. But in the triage of stories to cover, they missed the big one – the story of the war on western land owners because that’s what this is really about.

My preliminary conclusion is that the Department of the Interior and BLM are implementing the UN Bio Diversity Treaty that was defeated by Congress. To look at the story from the perspective of one man or one family is to miss the bigger story of the criminal conspiracy to put American ranchers and farmers out of business so the land can become part of the wildlands corridors. The criminal behavior of the BLM makes sense in that context whereas it makes no sense within the context of managing land for multiple use for the benefit of the American people. The only way to stop this level of criminality in our government is for us all to become the counter-friction and I hope we do because if we don’t, America will be lost.

Note: I’ve gotten some flak – not a lot of flak, but some flak about the article I wrote about Stewart Rhodes and his failure to lead in this situation. I would like to explain something to the Oathkeepers who were unhappy. Following your oath does not mean following orders. You took an oath an as individual and your obligation is to carry out that oath as an individual.

Stewart Rhodes is a Yale-trained lawyer. What that should mean is that he is a reader and a critical thinker. The story that Ammon Bundy told concerning his interviews with the Hammonds and the documentation that was available on the case should have been enough to trigger Stewart Rhodes to look deeper to see what was really going on. Instead he chose to fall back on the excuse that the Hammonds had their day in court and the court – the God Almighty Ninth Circuit Court of Clowns imposed the mandatory minimum for eco-terrorism, a crime that the Hammonds did not commit and the process worked satisfactorily. And the Supreme Clowns in the magnificent white marble building that they don’t deserve refused to hear the appeal. Better that 100 innocent men go to prison than one case of government corruption be exposed.

Our government has been captured by a cult of radical “environmentalists” who are really communists and marxists behind a green mask as Rosa Koire has described it. They are using environmentalism and the fraud of “climate change” to impose a totalitarian system of control. Our Congress seems powerless to do anything about it. Most Governors in this country are either true believers or too weak to do anything about it. So what are we to do? Just let it happen? Shall we leave our children and grandchildren a country in which they will be totally controlled prisoners of a system run by psychopathic monsters and useful idiots? If you are afraid now… what chance will they have in the future?

This is a complex situation to be sure. We need brains. We need brawn. But most of all we need courage. On all accounts, Stewart Rhodes, as a lawyer first and an Oathkeeper second, couldn’t and didn’t deliver and I will not apologize for saying it because the stakes are too high.

Memo to Trump: Sometimes the best thing said is nothing.

By Jim Sumpter

The Cruz/Beck caravan rolled into Iowa over the week-end and in one of the weirdest, dumbest displays of dopiness I’ve ever seen, Glenn Beck administered a mock swearing-in of Cruz as President of the United States by asking Cruz what he would say at the time of the administration of the oath of office.

Cruz awkwardly stumbles over his words, obviously caught off-guard by Beck’s move and after a few moments during which some words came to Cruz’s brain, he misquotes the oath of office, and in what appeared to be an obvious cover, Beck repeats his misquote.

Uh, I thought Cruz was the great Constitutionalist hope for America. And Beck, who proclaims “The Truth Lives Here” in his positioning statement for his Blaze company/network/website doesn’t correct Cruz, which could have easily been done with grace and dignity, and with Beck’s deft touch, a little humor.

Instead, the instinct of covering for Cruz is what kicked in.

And this is the heart of my beef with Cruz supporters.

Why can’t an honest query into Cruz’ clouded approach/stance on illegal aliens/immigration/amnesty, his history as a campaign fund-raiser (bundler?) for the W campaign, his close ties to Wall Street money guys he seems to want to, on the one hand, distance himself from, while on the other hand has his hand extended to be filled with cash - even to the point of getting a super-low interest, one million dollar loan be met with honest answers instead of either lies or ridicule, as though we the voters have no business questioning anything that relates to Cruz?

Are we supposed to just genuflect and give thanks for the great gift of this great messiah from the north?

By the way, it’s unbelievable to anyone who sincerely gives it serious thought that anyone could ‘forget’ a one million dollar loan - and it wasn’t just a standard-everyday-forgetting-where-the-good-scissors-are kind of forget - it was forgetting to include it on federal election forms during Cruz’ senatorial campaign.

Yet, when checked about the loan, Cruz deflects the question by blaming Mr. Trump, claiming Trump was making a mountain out of a mole hill; it was a simple “paperwork mistake” in filling out a form.

A one million dollar ‘omission’ on a federal form…from a Harvard educated lawyer?

I’m supposed to believe a one million dollar super low interest loan, that no one gets without either big-time connections or political favors to barter, just “…slipped his mind”?

Can we please just cut the crap?

And heretofore, I haven’t even mentioned his ineligibility with regard to his lack of natural born birth status - an issue Cruz refuses to address, claiming ala Obama’s “the science is settled on global warming” that somehow his birth status is “settled”, which is an absolute lie.

So with this bogus and dumb sorta mock swearing in that showed Cruz not to be so well versed Constitutionally as his blinded-by-the-light followers want us to believe, what’s Donald Trump doing?

Outrageously implying that he could shoot people and not lose votes. I get it…it was meant to be an over-the-top dumb joke, but all it really was, was unbelievably dumb.

Ted Cruz, Glenn Beck, and Cult-Like Religion

Freeper Editorial

by Greetings_Puny_Humans

Sundance at The Conservative Tree House has written posts commenting on Ted Cruz’s proselytizing as an electoral campaign strategy. Freepers have seen at least a couple of examples of this strategy recently, with threads being posted about Cruz calling on supporters to “don the full armor of God” to resist “incoming attacks” (presumably from dark forces!), or that the “Body of Christ” must be energized to gain the victory.

This type of rhetoric is also heavily prominent in his campaign fund raising. One of the more epic and cringe inducing examples comes from an apparent leak by the Cruz campaign of hours and hours of videos to Youtube, apparently done to get by laws that forbid cooperation between SuperPacs and the campaigns they support.

In these examples here and here, we get to see the Cruz family do multiple takes to get the candid-camera family prayer just right, and we also get to see his mother cringe after Cruz states that she spends “hours” praying for him every day.

It’s entirely incomprehensible to me why a campaign would allow such uncomfortable and damaging footage to ever see the light of day, but it does help me illustrate just why the Cruz campaign is so vulnerable outside of the primary season. No, it’s not because the general electorate is anti-Christian. It’s that most normal people, including Christians, recognize at first glance that praying in public- or implying that God supports your campaign as you beg for more money- is extremely artificial and painfully obvious pandering.

On top of that, besides the pandering, which is bad enough in and of itself, the type of so-called “Christianity” he associates with isn’t exactly the religion of Charles Spurgeon or Jonathon Edwards. Nope, it is the lowest of the low of New Age/Eastern Mysticism and Dominionist theology that is, unfortunately, invading huge swathes of Christendom today. And Cruz’s deep connections with these types of people are extensive, beginning with none other than his own father, Rafael Cruz.

Rafael Cruz, Larry Huch & 7 Mountains Theology (Dominionism.Kingdom Now)

First, a brief explanation of what Dominionism/Kingdom Now theology even is. It is a very theologically diverse movement. It is not a denomination. It started from the weirdo confines of the New Apostolic Reformation, where self-proclaimed “Apostles” and “Prophets” declared a latter rain revival/revolution. However, there are Baptist “Dominionists,” there are Roman Catholic “Dominionists,” there are leftist “Dominionists,” and people who are greatly influenced by their teachings but differ in some ways, or perhaps are not as extreme in their Charismatic “spiritual gifts” and “health and wealth” Gospel as other Dominionists are. In general, Dominionists believe that a great end times army of super Christians will take Dominion over the Earth and bring about the Kingdom of Christ, no longer a Kingdom “not of this world,” as the Gospel teaches, but one which begins here on Earth and must precede the coming of Christ in order for Him to arrive. Total physical unity of “Christians” is necessary, which is why a large number of Dominionists are also heavily involved in the ecumenical movement. Some of these people are more covert in their beliefs than others, but generally they all work together for the same goals.

As time has passed, this very diverse Dominionist movement has become increasingly mainstream among Evangelical or conservative circles (I highly recommend you read that link in its entirety), so much so that many people probably don’t even notice when 7 Mountains theology gets slipped in or the weirdos of the New Apostolic Reformation trot on out. The problem is so bad, in fact, that I call the unnoticed infiltration of Dominionists into GOP/Conservative politics the “dirty little secret” of our movement, and one which should be recognized and dealt with. These “Dominionists” have managed to get into prayer meetings or religious events all over, meeting with members of the GOP and pretending to represent mainstream Christendom, including with candidates like Newt Gingrich, Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, Rick Perry, Huckabee, Trump (in one meeting with the odious Copeland, among others) and on and on and on, who have all received hands on prayer by Dominionists and other errant pastors. However, no other candidate in this election has the ties Cruz has with the Dominionist movement.

Sometime in 2012 the Cruz campaign was apparently soliciting the endorsement of the megachurch Dominionist pastor, Larry Huch. Besides being a Dominionist, Huch is the kind of guy who sells CD Collections explaining how Christ’s blood won back our “willpower… prosperity… health… Dominion over the things we touch…[and] Dominion over the places we walk.” In other words, this is typical prosperity gospel and Dominionist materialism.

Huch remarked, during a sermon he was preaching along side Rafael Cruz, that he had received a phone call from the Cruz campaign to meet with them to see if he would be willing to “get behind” Cruz’s run. Evidently the meeting bore fruit for the Cruz campaign, as it not only won an endorsement from Huch, but Rafael Cruz also came and preached at his church.

As you will see in this link, (in the link I provided just before this one, there is a transcript of this same event. I provided this second link because the commentary surrounding the video is useful) Rafael Cruz taught the congregants about how God has anointed two types of Christians: Kings and Priests. It is the job of the Kings to take control over the “market place” in order to bring the wealth back to the priests. According to Rafael, the “wealth of the wicked” belongs to the church, and God has anointed the “Kings” of the Christian church to go forth and initiate the great transfer of wealth from the “wicked” to the “righteous” as part of the end-times establishment of the kingdom. (Notice how heavily materialistic all of this is.)

Keep in mind, this wasn’t Rafael Cruz just showing up at random at some church. Rafael is here operating as part of the Cruz campaign, selling to the congregation that Cruz believes the same things they do.

The Shady Background of Rafael Cruz

It is worth noting at this point just how shady Cruz’s father is. Virtually every part of his biography has been disputed based on the facts.

For example, the True the Vote Summit website listed Rafael Cruz as “Director of Purifying Fire Ministries, ministering in the U.S., Mexico and Central America. He is also a professor of Bible and Theology, and the president of Kingdom Translation Services.” This is a common bio you will find provided on many websites or speaking events Rafael has attended, though sometimes differing in details, such as in spelling or names. Sometimes he is a “pastor” of a Dallas church, other times that is not mentioned.

First:

There was no Purifying Fire Ministries that he was “director” of. It does not exist anywhere. There is no location for it anywhere. There are no remnants of a website somewhere. There is the Purifying Fire Ministries that was operated by Suzanne Hinn (the ex-wife of Charismaniac Benny Hinn), but the Cruz campaign has denied any connection with them, claiming that he “only used the name” for a little while before dropping it. Keep in mind, this “dropping” would have to have been pretty recent, because Rafael Cruz was being identified as “Director” of Purifying Fire Ministries as recently as January of this year.

Bizarrely, the Suzanne Hinn affiliated website was actually identified as belonging to Rafael Cruz in this speech he gave, despite the denials of any connection with the Purifying Fires franchise. That same website actually came down sometime after February of 2015, possibly in May (I see dates listed in May on the wayback machine, but cannot view them), and you can only view the about page mentioning Suzanne Hinn via the way back machine.

Of course, Rafael Cruz has no church in Dallas either. He is a “one-man” pastor, which the campaign admits.

We find similar problems when we examine his “Presidency” at Kingdom Translation Services. It is a real business, it seems, where he is listed as both Director and President, (I’d have gone with Supreme Chancellor and Senate) and, in the past 3 years since it was founded, has only put out an audio bible of Rafael Cruz reading the Bible in Spanish. The address associated with this business takes you to a residential address— which all leads me to believe that Rafael Cruz is the Director and President of a business with probably just one employee, himself, a sort of Trinity at least. The writer of this blog claims that it is indeed a one-man show, but I wasn’t able to verify that independently, only deduce it.

Moving on: Rafael Cruz’s claim of being a Professor of Bible theology. Well…(from the same link as above):

“He’s also claimed to be President of Kingdom Translation Services (another one-man gig that he started a year ago), and a “professor of Bible and Theology”, first at Advance Institute, then Advanced Bible Institute, neither of which can be found… anywhere…”

All of this is just the tip of the iceberg. Cruz’s immigration story (he might either have broken immigration law or embellished his story), his life in Cuba, his “fire bombing” for Castro, of having witnessed certain revolutionaries die (when they were on the other side of Cuba), and so many other details, are all contradicted.

See here and here for examples.

Glenn Beck & the Dominionist Axis-Power

Ted Cruz’s ties with Dominionism do not end with his dad or this pastor. Cruz is also supported by David Barton who leads Cruz’s Keep the Promise SuperPac. Barton is also a Lecturer for Beck’s “online university,” is the Chairman of Beck’s Mercury One charity, and his work is featured heavily by Beck’s program. It is also reported that Beck has raised millions for Keep the Promise via Barton. Like Ted Cruz himself, Barton is heavily promoted by Glenn Beck, though Beck performs virtually no vetting of this man whatsoever.

As an example, Barton’s historical work tracking the Christian roots of the nation are apparently plagued by exaggeration and poor scholarship. I didn’t have time to do a full scale study on the issue of the accuracy of Barton’s historical claims, but there are enough examples of misquotes available that makes you doubt Glenn Beck’s assertion that Barton is the “Library of Congress in shoes.” Ted Cruz has said something similar, describing Barton as a “good friend” and a fantastic scholar.

The blogger at Fanatic for Jesus blogspot describes Barton, as of 2011, as tending “to keep his ties to the Dominionists under wraps, and no one has heard him explicitly advocate Seven Mountains Dominionism … until yesterday on his radio program (4/4/11).” The blogger then goes on to quote him thusly:

“Barton: That’s right. Christians got to get involved. And there’s a Scripture they used that came out of Isiah 2:2 and it says “Now it shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established on the top of the mountains,” so this is now called the Seven Mountain Prophecy, there’s a book out by that name. It says the Lord’s house is going to be established on top of the mountains and these are the seven mountains. If you’re going to establish God’s kingdom, you’ve got to have these seven mountains and again that’s family, religion, education, media, entertainment, business and government. Now that’s what we believed all along is you got to get involved in this stuff. Jesus said “you occupy ’til I come.” We don’t care when he comes, that’s up to him. What we’re supposed to do is take the culture in the meantime and you got to get involved in these seven areas.”

This is a pretty clear declaration of Dominionist teaching. The book he mentions is by Johnny Enlow, a Dominionist author who has called for “superimposing” a “virtual theocracy” onto the United States government. Interestingly, Enlow describes himself as a “social reformer,” a red flag for a social just warrior, and on his website he rails against Donald Trump’s appeal to “White man’s pride.” Here’s a larger quote:

“I believe we are witnessing a phenomenon in the present political landscape, as Donald Trump is directly appealing, to what I sense God is presently judging in America- white male pride… what I sense from the Lord is that He is actually confronting and judging our white male pride (WMP). This is a kind of pride that blinds you from realizing that it is God Himself that has drawn a line in the sand and determined to bring a necessary correction. You can be a white female and also be affected by this pride, but I believe it’s primarily something that a significant portion of white males deal with… Donald Trump has stirred and blown a trumpet that is awakening WMP on a mass scale. His political platform has been horribly divisive and polarizing…”

As I said, Dominionism is a strange world where many different people with different visions of what a Christian nation should look like can all meet together under one tent.

Even Glenn Beck is not an unwelcome member of the Dominionist movement. David Barton defends Glenn Beck’s Mormon faith (the LDS is polytheistic and pelagian in nature, thoroughly heretical) as being Christian, though this probably also has something to do with Dominionism’s Ecumenical efforts.

Barton’s ties with other Dominionists are also quite extensive, including with Kenneth Copeland, who, besides his Dominionism, pushes New Age/Eastern mysticism. He also says things likethis:

“You’re all God. You don’t have a God living in you; you are one! … When I read in the Bible where God tells Moses, ‘I AM,’ I say, ‘Yah, I am too!'” (“The Force of Love,” Tape BBC-56).

This same Kenneth Copeland managed to land a 3 hour meeting with the Pope due to the sheer level of his popularity, which, perhaps, is less a condemnation of the Pope not vetting him, but more a problem with the American Evangelical movement that really does give more honor to guys like Copeland than is deserved.

Rafael Cruz has also echoed concepts repeated by David Barton, such as the concept of a “black robe regiment” of Christian pastors.

Moving on: Glenn Beck himself, not surprisingly, also brings up the “7 Mountains” of society, mouthing the same talking points that first originated with hardcore Dominionists years ago.

In case you think that maybe Glenn Beck doesn’t know the full implications of what he’s saying, Chuck Pierce, a radical Dominionist and self-proclaimed prophet of the crazy New Apostolic Reformation, gave Glenn Beck a holy “mantle of the future”. To help you understand that, think of the Roman Catholic concept of Apostolic succession, then insert lunacy, mix it up, and drink till you pass out. The New Apostolic Reformation believes they are the restored Apostles and Prophets of God, basically like the return of saint Paul or saint John, and they have all the authority implied therein, though they use it mostly to rake in donations from the faithful.

The blogger at Spirit of Error noted that the timing of Chuck Pierce’s granting of the prophetic mantle to Mormon Glenn Beck was interesting. He writes:

“With the presidential election around the corner, the timing of Pierce’s mantle-giving is no coincidence. Beck didn’t just happen to stop by Pierce’s church last Sunday morning. Pierce didn’t just happen to present Beck with a mantle–out of courtesy for his high-profile visitor. This event was orchestrated. Think about it. Pierce gives a mantle to Beck–and, as a result, people in the NAR movement will now listen to Beck when he speaks in support of a presidential candidate. Who will he speak in support of? He’s thrown his support to Ted Cruz, who, just yesterday, announced that he’ll run for the Republican Party nomination for 2016.

Ted Cruz’s ties with Glenn Beck should be well known to all at this point, but is worth summarizing with a few bits of new information. Cruz, of course, joined up with Beck to hand out Teddy bears to illegal alien children awhile back. He is a frequent topic on Beck’s programs and appears often. He has praised both Barton and Beck as good friends and patriots. Through David Barton, Beck also is involved with Ted Cruz’s superPAC Keep the Promise, and Beck’s support for Cruz is blatant. Beck in November declared he is currently working on a documentary about Ted Cruz (I do not know if he’s finished it and has already aired it on his irrelevant internet TV show), and has declared that Ted Cruz has been “supernaturally” raised to lead the country. (Cruz has been implying the same thing over the past month, which makes me wonder whether this is a combined effort to create a “Savior” narrative.)

Cruz’s Church

Currently, Cruz attends Houston’s First Baptist Church. The senior pastor is Gregg Matte. He was one of the pastors associated with Rick Perry’s controversial prayer meeting with prominent “Evangelical” leaders. Here is Martha West explaining the problem:

“In my article series “The Religious Right uniting with Religious Renegades” I expressed alarm over some or our Christian leader’s decision to attend Gov. Rick Perry’s The Response: A call to prayer. Many evangelicals were distressed that respected leaders would be standing shoulder to shoulder with folks who are associated with fringe groups such as the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR), the International House of Prayer (IHOP) and the Word of Faith (WoF). These groups hold many of the same unbiblical beliefs such as “positive confession.”

Evidently these warnings went unheeded, and Gregg Matte was among those standing side by side the weirdest weirdos of the Dominionist movement. Gregg Matte has also had David Barton as a guest speaker at his church, as seen here. Beyond this, Barton’s sermons that I have seen were bland enough that I didn’t notice any problems, except, perhaps, for a hint that he believes God speaks to men audibly, but not clear enough for me to be sure. There was no other information on him. I suspect it’s because he just isn’t that famous.

Beth Moore, on the other hand, is a different matter. She has taught at Houston’s First Baptist Church for more than two decades, producing Bible studies and giving sermons. She believes that God speaks audibly to her, in “full sentences,” and that, while writing her book, she had supernatural experiences accompanying it. She has also taught “contemplative prayer” and is close to the Osteen family. Besides this, she is also tied to Dominionists like Joyce Meyer, with whom she has done work promoting Ecumenicalism. According to Beth, she has had supernatural visions where Roman Catholics are also members of the body of Christ (controversial for the average Baptist, but a regular theme with most Dominionists).

Joyce Meyer, as mentioned, is a Dominionist, and also gives to her congregations pretty little gems like this:

“The Lord recently showed me that we can bless or curse the financial seed we sow. We can speak positively about our financial future, or we can say things like, ‘I can’t afford it’ . .. ‘Every time I turn around something happens to take my money’. . . . We should water our giving with the water of His word and expect an abundant harvest. Sow your seed and speak prosperity scriptures over your finances” (Joyce Meyer, “Your Mouth is a Weapon,” Life in the Word March 1997, p. 4.)

And as an explanation of why this sort of doctrine is so popular:

“While Meyer’s previous salary is unknown, a recent series of investigative articles in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch revealed Meyer’s ministry purchased for Joyce and Dave a $2 million home, a $10 million private jet, and houses worth another $2 million for the couple’s children, who also work for the ministry. The articles also outlined Meyer’s recent personal purchases, including a $500,000 vacation home. Meyer, 60, lives in Fenton, Missouri, near St. Louis.” (1/1/2004, http://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2004/januaryweb-only/1-19-13.0.html)

Is it any wonder why con men are so drawn to the “Christian” Evangelical/Charismatic scene? It is insanely profitable, provided you have the right message. That is probably part of the reason for Beck’s downward spiral into Dominionist theology- it’s to get at the money while his original audience shrinks into nothingness. At the same time, however, Beck really does seem to think he has some kind of Messianic mission. You see this in the way he talks and how he seems to be having “prophetic” inspiration when he declares Cruz to be supernaturally-sent. The fact he’s working on a documentary for Ted Cruz was also quite a bizarre revelation for me. There’s not exactly that much to talk about.

Returning to Moore, the blogger at “The King’s Dale” did an extensive study on her (he read all three of her books), concluding, among other things, that she preaches a “false Gospel of pragmatism, self-improvement and prosperity.” Or, in other words, the usual “believe it and claim it” materialistic pablum that is omnipresent among these people. Beth Moore has also preached sermons with common New Apostolic Reformation themes, such as this one at James Robison’s church. Robison himself is a hyper-Charismatic who has featured Dominionists like John Wimber, and has done ecumenical work. Also note this from the same link:

“In the November/December 1986 issue of Day of Restoration, James Robison wrote that the miracle of Christmas is “that Christ is formed in you;” that “our actual purpose in this world: receiving and expressing the fullness of the life of Jesus.” He goes on to say that “God wants us to see Jesus as merely the big brother in a huge family of brothers and sisters like Him.” Further, he states that II Corinthians 5:17 means that we “have the divine nature, the eternal life of God.” Still Christ must be “formed in you.” He goes on to say that Jesus was a pattern; that “Jesus Himself pioneered the process He is putting us through.” He claims that “God reveals that Christ had to be formed even in Jesus. … That same Jesus also will be formed in you — in anyone who will receive the light of this truth.”

For those of you familiar with Mormon doctrine, you’ll notice that a lot of Dominionist thinking has a strong Mormonic flavor. The LDS believes that men are gods in seed form. If they perform all the duties of a Mormon, they will graduate to full fledged Godhood in the Celestial Kingdom. It makes sense then why a lot of Dominionists, such as those in the NAR, are willing to declare him to be a prophet. Though, they probably like the prospect of money, publicity and power as well.

So there you have it folks. Here are Ted Cruz’s ugly ties with cult-like religion, as well as Beck’s descent into Dominionist madness. I could keep going, and there is much more research to be done. However, this is as much as you’ll get for now.

Hillary Clinton angers Iowa fans who waited hours for five-minute speech

The lack of length and substance of her address appeared to upset some in the crowd

Hillary Clinton left her audience cold in Iowa City on Thursday night, after she spoke for less than five minutes to a crowd of more than a thousand people, some of whom had lined up for more than an hour to see her.

After a day marred by a new poll showing Bernie Sanders leading her by eight points in Iowa, Clinton might have been expected to go for broke during a rally at the University of Iowa, which featured a performance by popstar Demi Lovato.

But Clinton did not refer to the Vermont senator, or much else, in her speech. The lack of length and substance of her address appeared to upset some in the crowd.

“It was like a political commercial,” said Allison Steigerwald, a 24-year-old graduate student at the university. “I thought she was saying goodbye to Demi and then she’d start her speech. But it never happened.”

“It was very short,” said Jennifer Marks, 22. “There were a lot of statements. Like: ‘We are we going to make things happen.’” Marks said. “No actual how.”

“I just feel bad for the people who got here at five,” she said.

OMG! “Bowels Emptied! Women Molested!” German CCTV Footage Of Refugee Pool Mayhem

“Bowels Emptied! Women Molested!” German Media Reveals “Monstrous” CCTV Footage Of Refugee Pool Mayham

Some refugees apparently didn’t get the message about proper pool behavior

Europeans are struggling to come to terms with the wave of Mid-East refugees that have inundated the bloc over the course of the last 12 months.

The challenge, for those inclined to believe that German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s multicultural utopia is feasible, is to adopt an open minded approach to the prospect of integrating millions of Muslim asylum seekers into a largely Christian society while retaining a healthy level of skepticism with regard to the prospect of unifying two vastly divergent cultures.

Even those who are predisposed to being patient with the integration process are beginning to question the wisdom behind Berlin’s open-door policy.

Interestingly, it wasn’t the murder of 130 people in Paris that served as the catalyst for what amounts to a wholesale shift in sentiment towards migrants. While there was certainly a public outcry in the wake of the Paris attacks, the backlash coalesced after New Year’s Eve, when scores of women were reportedly assaulted by men of “Arab origin.”

Since then, voters have moved to express their discontent with the bloc’s handling of the refugee crisis by taking to the streets in what on many occasions have turned out to be violent protests.

The official response has been mixed. Germany has endeavored to keep the faith (as it were) by preserving the “yes we can” narrative in public, but in private, many German politicians claim the country is on the verge of closing its borders. Austria has apparently had enough, has suspended Schengen, and is now requiring refugees to learn German or risk losing access to welfare. The country has also developed a pictographic flyer designed to coach migrants on what types of behaviors are acceptable in polite Western European society.

Switzerland has adopted the Austrian flyer and Germany has developed its own cartoons the government hopes will to clear up any “confusion” about how asylum seekers should act once settled in Europe.

A particularly sensitive issue is pool etiquette. If you believe the media, refugees are having a particularly difficult time figuring out how to behave when swimming in public. The controversy led one small German town near Cologne (the site of the New Year’s Eve assaults) to ban adult male asylum seekers from swimming.

Well, despite the best efforts of European cartoonists, some refugees apparently didn’t get the message about proper pool behavior because according to “reports,” some asylum seekers were caught on closed circuit TV doing some rather lewd things at the Johannisbad baths in Zwickau. Below, find the story from Bild, which we present without further comment because frankly, there’s not much we can add here.

(Google translated, some errors in translation.)

From “In The Swimming Pool, Bowels Emptied! Women Molested!”, originally published in Bild and Google translated for your amusement

According bathrooms GmbH have masturbated refugees when visiting swimming baths in pools and emptied their bowels in the water. They are women in sauna harassed and have tried to storm the ladies’ locker!

All this is evident from a letter from clerk’s office manager Rainer Kallweit to his superior departmental head Bernd Meyer. In the letter dated 19 January (Image exists) summarizes Kallweit a report of the security that service the city’s baths GmbH. The city administration has towards BILD confirm their authenticity letter!

Kallweit reports of a memorandum from the Johannisbad. It states inter alia: “An asylum seeker has masturbated in the hot tub and ejaculated into the basin. This is also recorded on the surveillance camera “And further:”. The lifeguards threw him out. The asylee came with his, cronies’ but again purely to get his cell phone.Together, visitors have ‘in the hot tub a hooting, Selfie’ done. “

“The users of this contaminated pool by there got rid of one’s own intestinal contents. Native people have immediately leave the bathroom. “

The memo continues: “Furthermore, the lifeguards have to protect women and girls from the asylum. Young men wanted to forcibly penetrate into the dressing of women and girls. These actions could previously be blocked.”

Who has the power to do what at an Art. V Convention?

REPOSTED FROM RENEWAMERICA.COM

By Judi Caler

Article V, United States Constitution, says:

“The Congress, whenever two thirds of both Houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose Amendments to this Constitution, or, on the application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States, shall call a Convention for proposing Amendments, which, in either Case, shall be valid to all Intents and Purposes, as Part of this Constitution, when ratified by the Legislatures of three fourths of the several States [mode #1], or by Conventions in three fourths thereof [mode #2], as the one or the other Mode of Ratification may be proposed by the Congress…”

So, there are two ways to propose Amendments to the Constitution:

1. Congress proposes them and sends them to the States for ratification or rejection; or

2. When 2/3 of the States apply for it, Congress calls a convention.

All our 27 existing amendments were proposed under the 1st method: Congress proposed them.

We have never had a convention under Article V.

So what’s the Truth? WHO has the power to do WHAT?

The Constitution grants only the following powers to four different bodies regarding an Article V convention:

But what are convention proponents telling State Legislators?

PAPER: Passengers Allowed to Skip Customs at JFK Airport — AGAIN!

JFK allowed passengers arriving on international flight to exit without going through Customs

NEW YORK DAILY NEWS
Saturday, January 23, 2016, 7:59 PM

Airline and security officials let travelers on American Airlines Flight 1223 from Cancun, Mexico, out of the airport without having their passports or bags checked, sources told The News.

Airline and security officials let travelers on American Airlines Flight 1223 from Cancun, Mexico, out of the airport without having their passports or bags checked, sources told The News.

Passengers arriving at Kennedy Airport on an international flight were allowed to exit the busy hub without going through Customs — for at least the second time in recent months, the Daily News has learned.

Bumbling airline and security officials let travelers on American Airlines Flight 1223 from Cancun, Mexico, out of the airport on Monday morning without having their passports or bags checked, sources told The News.

The security lapse mirrored a similar incident involving another American Airlines flight in November.

A 34-year-old man who had been in Cancun to attend three Phish concerts told The News he was able to glide from the plane to the baggage claim area without having to endure the usual maze of Customs and Border Protection security checks.

“It’s absolutely absurd,” the business adviser said. “To think that anyone could be walking off of that plane and just get right into the city. It could be terrorists, El Chapo’s henchmen, anyone.”

The jam band fan said he even approached a Transportation Security Administration agent near the exit, but was told he was free to go.

Several other concertgoers who were on the flight were already outside at the curbside cab line when he exited the airport.

Neither the TSA, which screens passengers before they fly, nor the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, part of the Department of Homeland Security, responded to a request for comment.

It was unclear how many of the passengers from the flight were able to skip the security checkpoints

Hours after the plane landed, American Airline officials pleaded with the Manhattan man — and presumably other passengers — to return to Kennedy and complete the customs process.

“I apologize for any inconvenience this may be for you; however it is a Customs requirement that every passenger entering the United States must clear Customs,” the airline wrote in an email sent to passengers.

“You could tell that they knew they screwed up and were desperate to get me to come,” the passenger added.

The oversight sparked fears that terrorists could easily slip into the country without having to pass through any checkpoints.

“New York remains the number one target for terrorists and it just made me think of Paris and how easy it would be for them to get in,” he said. “It’s incompetence like this that could lead to another attack.”

A nearly identical incident involving another American Airlines flight from Cancun unfolded in November, just two days after ISIS released a video threatening New York City with a terrorist attack, The News reported.

American Airlines admitted to the latest security snafu in a statement, but declined to say what they were doing about it.

“We take the safety and security of our customers, employees and operation very seriously,” the company said. “Some passengers on flight 1223 did not complete immigration and customs process upon arrival when they were inadvertently directed to the domestic terminal.”

After the November incident, a Customs spokesman told The News that the agency was “aware of and looking into the incident and is working with our counterparts to resolve it.”

    A Drug to Cure Fear?

Comment: Didn’t I read something about this drug to “calm the masses” long ago in Aldous Huxley’s, “Brave New World “? I’ve got an idea for Dr. Freidman. Let’s call his new wonder drug SOMA.

“Some may view any attempt to tamper with human memory as disturbing because it seems at odds with what we ought to do as a culture with the darker aspects of our history: Never alter the facts, even if we have divergent interpretations of them. And it is critical not to destroy places where crimes of humanity and collective trauma took place, like the concentration camps, so we never forget what we have done and remain capable of doing. Fair enough. But I see no reason not to help frightened individuals soften their painful emotional memories.

Some may also argue that it’s a mistake to tinker with our fear responses because they’re natural — they evolved this way for a reason. Like most other animals, we come hard-wired with a flight or fight response along with its associated anxiety and fear. Without this warning system to protect us from predators and other dangers, we’d have been dinner long ago on the savanna.”

    Comment: Ya Think?!?

    A Drug to Cure Fear

WHO among us hasn’t wanted to let go of anxiety or forget about fear? Phobias, panic attacks and disorders like post-traumatic stress are extremely common: 29 percent of American adults will suffer from anxiety at some point in their lives.

Sitting at the heart of much anxiety and fear is emotional memory — all the associations that you have between various stimuli and experiences and your emotional response to them. Whether it’s the fear of being embarrassed while talking to strangers (typical of social phobia) or the dread of being attacked while walking down a dark street after you’ve been assaulted (a symptom of PTSD), you have learned that a previously harmless situation predicts something dangerous.

It has been an article of faith in neuroscience and psychiatry that, once formed, emotional memories are permanent. Afraid of heights or spiders? The best we could do was to get you to tolerate them, but we could never really rid you of your initial fear. Or so the thinking has gone.

The current standard of treatment for such phobias revolves around exposure therapy. This involves repeatedly presenting the feared object or frightening memory in a safe setting, so that the patient acquires a new safe memory that resides in his brain alongside the bad memory. As long as the new memory has the upper hand, his fear is suppressed. But if he is re-traumatized or re-exposed with sufficient intensity to the original experience, his old fear will awaken with a vengeance.

This is one of the limitations of exposure therapy, along with the fact that it generally works in only about half of the PTSD patients who try it. Many also find it upsetting or intolerable to relive memories of assaults and other traumatizing experiences.

We urgently need more effective treatments for anxiety disorders. What if we could do better than creating a new safe memory — and actually get rid of emotions attached to the old bad one?

New research suggests that it may be possible not just to change certain types of emotional memories, but even to erase them. We’ve learned that memories are uniquely vulnerable to alteration at two points: when we first lay them down, and later, when we retrieve them.

Merel Kindt, a professor of psychology at the University of Amsterdam, and her colleagues have seemingly erased the emotional fear response in healthy people with arachnophobia. For a study published last month in the journal Biological Psychiatry, she compared three groups made up of 45 subjects in total. One group was exposed to a tarantula in a glass jar for two minutes, and then given a beta-blocker called propranolol that is commonly prescribed to patients for performance anxiety; one was exposed to the tarantula and given a placebo; and one was just given propranolol without being shown the spider, to rule out the possibility that propranolol by itself could decrease spider fear.

Dr. Kindt assessed the subjects’ anxiety when they were shown the spider the first time, then again three months later, and finally after a year. What she found was remarkable. Those who got the propranolol alone and those who got the placebo had no improvement in their anxiety. But the arachnophobes who were exposed to the spider and given the drug were able to touch the tarantula within days and, by three months, many felt comfortable holding the spider with their bare hands. Their fear did not return even at the end of one year.

How does this work? Well, propranolol blocks the effects of norepinephrine in the brain. This chemical, which is similar to adrenaline, enhances learning, so blocking it disrupts the way a memory is put back in storage after it is retrieved — a process called reconsolidation.

Arachnophobes have an emotional memory that involves an association between spiders and a dreaded outcome, like a spider bite. This “fear memory” is the source of their phobia — even if (as is often the case) it never actually happened. The basic idea is that when Dr. Kindt briefly exposed the subjects to the spider, she reactivated their fear, which made the fear memory susceptible to the influence of propranolol.

Reconsolidation is a bit like pulling up a file on your computer, rewriting the same material in a bigger, bolder font and saving it again. Disrupting reconsolidation with propranolol or another drug is akin to retrieving this document, erasing some or all of the text and then writing something new in its place.

Dr. Kindt is not the first to demonstrate that disrupting reconsolidation can weaken or erase emotional memories. Several studies of rats done in 2000 showed that a drug called anisomycin, which blocks the synthesis of proteins in the brain, could reduce fear associations. In one, researchers taught rats to fear a sound by pairing it with a shock. After the animals were fear-conditioned, they were presented with the sound and then immediately given the drug. When the animals were exposed to the sound again, they no longer appeared afraid; they had forgotten their original fear.

Curiously, there is a very narrow time window after retrieving a fear memory when you can disrupt that memory — hours, in the animal studies — before it closes and the drug has no effect.

These studies suggest that someday, a single dose of a drug, combined with exposure to your fear at the right moment, could free you of that fear forever. But there’s a flip side to this story about how to undo emotional learning: how to strengthen it. We can do that with drugs as well, and may have been doing it for some time.

ANXIETY enhances emotional memory. We all know that — it’s why you can easily forget where you put your wallet, but will never forget being attacked. This is the case because anxiety leads to the release of norepinephrine in the brain, which, again, strengthens emotional learning. It is also why we should think twice about casually prescribing stimulants like Ritalin and Adderall for young people who really don’t need them. Stimulants also cause the release of norepinephrine and may enhance fear learning. So it is possible that taking stimulants could increase one’s risk of developing PTSD when exposed to trauma.

Indeed, a study that will be published next month found that the escalating use of stimulants by the military in active duty soldiers, including those serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, was strongly correlated with an increase in the rates of PTSD, even when controlling for other factors, like the rate of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. The study examined the use of prescription stimulants, like Ritalin and Adderall, and the rates of PTSD in nearly 26,000 military service members between 2001 and 2008, and found that the incidence of PTSD increased along with the prescriptions.

By blocking the effect of norepinephrine and disrupting memory reconsolidation, we could perhaps reverse this process. The clear implication of these studies is that emotional memory is not permanent after all.

Before you rush off into a panic about the dystopian possibility of mind control or memory deletion, it’s important to recognize that the procedure in Dr. Kindt’s study only weakened the subjects’ fear memory and avoidant behavior. Although the procedure is able to alter or perhaps delete the fear memory (something exposure therapy cannot do), it does nothing to the factual, or biographical, memory, which remains intact.

This is not “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,” the movie in which a dysfunctional couple decides to erase their memories of each other and start their lives all over again. To the contrary, you still remember your biography, but your fear would be stripped of its force. The subjects knew perfectly well after the study that they previously feared spiders and that they now — strangely — felt little to no anxiety around them.

If this new approach is effective in other anxiety disorders, like PTSD, you would expect someone who was assaulted in his home to remember the attack perfectly well, but no longer feel afraid of being at home. What’s so bad about that?

It would certainly be superior to exposure therapy, which is far from a permanent fix. Once, while on vacation in Costa Rica, I was standing next to a young man on a zip line platform in a rain forest when he began to hyperventilate. I learned that he had a fear of heights and had had exposure treatment a year before, which he felt had fixed the problem. But now, his old fear was triggered and he was having a full-blown panic attack. I suppose he was lucky to be stuck with a psychiatrist in the jungle; I talked him down the ladder to the ground.

How effective this new memory-disrupting approach will be in treating more serious anxiety disorders like PTSD or panic is unclear. A few preliminary studies using propranolol in PTSD showed mixed results. Some found no effect, but a 2015 review of PTSD treatment studies published in Biological Psychology found that propranolol administered with six brief trauma reactivation sessions significantly improved PTSD symptoms compared with a placebo.

Study results may well change with the development of better methods for administering propranolol or new drugs that are more effective in disrupting memory reconsolidation. Marieke S. Tollenaar, a psychologist at Leiden University in the Netherlands who has studied the effects of propranolol on memory, told me that the “final test” would be to “examine in real life whether propranolol in addition to standard exposure treatment procedures would be beneficial. Little has been done there yet; most work is still done experimentally in the lab.”

Some may view any attempt to tamper with human memory as disturbing because it seems at odds with what we ought to do as a culture with the darker aspects of our history: Never alter the facts, even if we have divergent interpretations of them.

Without this warning system to protect us from predators and other dangers, we’d have been dinner long ago on the savanna.

But what was once adaptive millions of years ago isn’t always so helpful today. People who suffer panic attacks hyperventilate and have an intense desire to flee in situations where there is rarely actual danger. It turns out that panic disorder is associated with an increased sensitivity to carbon dioxide in the brain. If you lived in a cave with a clan of hominid fire-dwellers, you’d have been one of the first to get out when the oxygen supply was dwindling.

Curiously, that might help explain why some people have panic attacks that wake them at night. These patients don’t panic during so-called REM sleep, when dreams occur, but during non-REM sleep, when they are deeply relaxed, when breathing slows, and the levels of carbon dioxide rise, generating a false suffocation alarm.

Evolutionary design has left us a few million years out of date; we are hard-wired for a Paleolithic world, but have to live in a modern one. The irrational fear of anxiety disorders was once probably useful and lifesaving. No longer.

But maybe that modern world can help. I see nothing wrong with doing all we can to rid ourselves of pathological anxiety, including using drugs to alter our painful emotional memories.

An earlier version of this article incorrectly described some of the details of a study. Arachnophobes who were given a drug and exposed to a tarantula were able to touch the spider four days later, not hold them in a jar on Day 1.
