Dog found help for friend stuck for a week in a ravine

Fellowship of the Minds

Here’s your feel-good story of the day: a reminder that there is still good in the world.

Phoebe, a basset hound, fell into a concrete cistern in a ravine in the woods of Washington state, and couldn’t get out.

Phoebe

So Phoebe’s friend, Tillie the Irish Setter, went to find help, each day for a week.

Meanwhile, the nonprofit animal rescue organization Vashon Island Pet Protectors (VIPP) had posted photos of the two missing dogs on their Facebook page, hoping someone would spot them.

On September 14, 2015, VIPP received a call from Joe Curiel about a “reddish” dog coming up to them on their property, before promptly heading back into a ravine.

Acting on the tip, VIPP volunteers made their way into the ravine, calling “Tillie! Tillie!” After a bit of searching, the volunteers heard a small one-woof response. A few minutes later, they found Tillie lying beside the old…

Radical homosexual priest appointed to Vatican says gay sex can express Jesus’ “self-gift”

Fellowship of the Minds

On May 16, 2015, Vatican Radio reported that Pope Francis had named Fr. Timothy Radcliffe OP, whom The Boston Globe’s Catholic website CRUXcalls “a strong ally of Pope Francis,” a consultor of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace.

Note: The Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace (PCJP) is a department of the Roman Curia — the administrative apparatus of the Holy See — dedicated to “action-oriented studies” for the international promotion of justice, peace, and human rights from the perspective of the Roman Catholic Church. Proposed by the Second Vatican Council “to stimulate the Catholic Community to foster progress in needy regions and social justice on the international scene,” PCJP was established by Pope Paul VI in 1967.

The pope appoints roughly 40 members and consultors to the PCJP, according to their background and experience, who serve for five years, giving input to the planning for the Council. Vatican.va states that when the…

The telltale truth of Syrian refugees left in garbage they leave behind

My friends comments:

Syrian “refugees,” my derriere; they are mostly young, strong, jihadi men, very few women, children or elderly among them, a planned hijrah. Obama will soon be forcing hundreds of thousands of them onto U.S. towns and cities at our ultimate peril. They will overwhelm our safety net and gobble up the resources intended for needy Americans. Are we really going to allow the Muslim usurper in the White House to turn the U.S. into an Islamic Republic? It’s time to put aside the red-blue, liberal-conservative, right-left nonsense, because in a sinking ship, we all go down together.

By Dr. Ileana Johnson Paugh FOR CANADAFREEPRESS.COM

As I look at photos posted by witnesses at the Italian/Austrian border, Serbian/Hungarian border, and various train stations around Europe, I am wondering who is going to clean the mountains of trash left behind for miles and miles, as far as the eye can see, by the “refugees” from the Middle East.

“Why has everyone, from everywhere and all at once, decided to start heading towards Europe, five years into the Syrian civil war? This must be a manufactured mass migration.”

It is not what the refugees used on their journey, but what they left behind unused – discarded Red Cross packaged water, crates of peaches, untouched packaged food, unopened baby diapers, brand new strollers, car seats, toys, and other necessities for someone traveling with a baby. Since these items were left behind, it is obvious that there were no babies among them.

Videos are coming in from various regions showing Muslim men fighting, throwing rocks and chairs at each other, breaking windows, throwing feces, bloodying each other’s noses in vicious fights, Shia fighting the Sunnis, the same centuries old senseless religious tribal animosity and hatred.

Refugees have taken over Greek Islands, turning them into a gang-like war zone. Greeks are afraid, hiding in their homes, unable to go to work, or to take their children to school. There is no respect for private property and there is no civilized propriety. They are burning cars and flags, throwing feces at passing cars and at people unfortunate enough to be in the way.

A witness at the Italian Austrian border, a Polish travel blog writer, describes circumstances of horror. “This huge mass of people, but these are absolute savages … Vulgar, throwing bottles, shouting loudly, ‘We want Germany.’… But is Germany a paradise now?”

“I saw how they surrounded a car of an elderly Italian woman, pulled her by her hair out of the car and wanted to drive away in the car. They tried to overturn the bus in which I traveled myself with a group of others. They were throwing feces at us, banging on the doors to force the driver to open them, spat at the windshield. How is this savagery to assimilate in Germany? The bus is now damaged, covered with feces, scratched, with broken windows.” His group had to travel with Italian police escorts from then on. He described the entire area as a war zone.

Should we not be compassionate to our fellow Muslims who, by no fault of their own, are invading Europe, fleeing a civil war in Syria? Since they are mostly young men 20-30 years old, would it not make sense that they stayed with their families and fought for their country, protecting their wives, children, and the elderly? Why trek 4,000 km to another continent whose culture they hate and despise, instead of going to the nearby rich Arab and Muslim countries that could have given them familiar shelter and religious accommodations?

Why? Are they (Saudi Arabia) trying to colonize Europe with Islam?

Saudi Arabia promised Germany that they would build a mosque for every 100 refugees they take in. Why? Are they trying to colonize Europe with Islam? Why not take these refugees into Saudi Arabia?

As the blogger said, even though he felt subconscious compassion, he was glad the refugees did not choose Poland as their destination: “Poles are not prepared to accept these people culturally or financially.”

Why would refugees seek Germany and Sweden? The Poland MEP, Janusz Koran-Mekka of the conservative-liberal party, shed some light during his recent speech at the EU.

“Poland does not have a problem with immigrants. Poland has a problem with immigrants, who under the absurd Dublin regime (the Dublin Regulation), are being forced to stay at concentration camps although they want to escape from Poland to Germany, Austria, and other EU countries. Why? Because Poland has significantly lower social benefits. If we were to abolish social benefits, there wouldn’t be any people coming to Poland and Europe just to live off of handouts.

People willing to work are valuable, but they are being sent back to their countries and we take in those unwilling to work. This is a ridiculous policy that results in Europe being flooded with human garbage. Let’s state this clearly: human garbage that does not want to work. America built its power because it took in immigrants willing to work and it does not give any handouts. We are ruining Europe and this policy is the cause of the downfall of Europe.”

The Polish MEP is wrong that America is not taking in immigrants that are unwilling to work. We have our share of them on welfare rolls as soon as they get here. There are legal immigrants who are still waiting for the resolution of their cases but southern border illegal jumpers get red carpet treatment at the welfare trough. Social Security offices are jam-packed with illegals, who do not speak English and have no intention of assimilating into our culture.

Angela Tocila, another European blogger, made some interesting points in her September 9, 2026 post. I translate ad litteram or paraphrase parts of her eloquent essay. We all learned to share as kids and to be compassionate. We remember the UNICEF ads begging for a few dollars to feed the starving children of Africa yet they are still dying of hunger.

Most people volunteer because they are Christians and want to help their fellow humans. Liberals volunteer because they are enamored with primitive cultures they view as superior and exploited by evil white men. But Angela Tocila sees the new wave of European volunteerism to take in Syrian refugees as a new wave of “flower power.”

These “flower power” liberals are “pointing fingers and accusing that we are not in solidarity with the downtrodden on a blind quest with a fixed destination, Germany or nothing. Germany or I am going to throw my wife and child on the train tracks, Germany or death. The “flower power” ilk forces me to respond if I want to take in a family of refugees in my own home, in the name of human solidarity; they are trying to blackmail me into a sentimental guilt trip that I am not sensitive to, and I answer NO.”

She would not take in refugees because she does not have any duty or responsibility towards them. “That does not mean that I am insensitive to the drama of many, to the images of drowned kids whose dads survived miraculously while trying to save their kids. I am not insensitive to the male invasion who uses their women and children as shields, place them on train tracks or throw them through a fence.” I loathe people who do not bathe, who demand that I cover my arms and legs in their presence, for fear that I might offend their religious obsessions, who would treat me in my own home as half a human being or less. I don’t want to feel obligated to find a shepherd to buy a sheep because I eat pork, beef, beans with smoked pork, or stuffed cabbage with pork.” If you stay in my house, you must eat what I eat. I don’t want to enter into a conflict with a male who treats his wife like a rag, while trying to explain to him that she is just as much of a human being as he is. I am agnostic and I would not want to create a prayer space in my own home and to respect a religious ritual foreign to me and to my culture. I would not want to become the victim of the conflict between the Shia family in my home and the Sunni family in my neighbor’s home. Last but not least, I would not take in a refugee family in my home when the conflict was caused by those who finance it and are responsible, the military industrial complex.”

But the most compelling argument was, “I don’t want to wake up one morning with my throat slashed because I might be Christian.”

The liberal do-gooders have moved from adopting starving African children to oppressed Afghani women and girls, to stopping the Darfur genocide caused by Muslims, to now adopting a refugee family from Syria. And the world’s problems seem to get worse while liberals are mum about the slaughter of Christians and Yezidis by ISIS.

Liberal humanitarians will try to run cover and explain benignly why 1,500 Muslims chanting Alahu Akbar, throwing rocks and bottles at police, are rioting at the closed Roszke-Horkos border crossing from Serbia into Hungary. Hungarian police fired tear gas and water cannons at the refugees as they broke through the make-shift fence.

Germany and the EU are receiving a massive onslaught of militant multi-culturalism which they are ill-prepared to handle. Decades of European multi-culturalism has already been a substantial failure.

Why Western Nations Should Only Accept Christian Refugees

By Raymond Ibrahim FOR CANADAFREEPRESS.COM

As refugees from the Middle East flood the West, a number of countries—including Hungary, Bulgaria, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Cyprus, and Australia—are defying political correctness by wanting to accept Christian refugees only.

While more “progressive” voices cry “racism,” the fact remains: there are several objective reasons why the West should give priority, if not exclusivity, to Christian refugees—and some of these are actually to the benefit of European host nations.

Consider:

Christians are true victims of persecution. From a humanitarian point of view—and humanitarianism is the chief reason being cited in accepting refugees—Christians should receive top priority simply because they are the most persecuted group in the Middle East—well before the Islamic State phenomenon came into being. As Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop put it, “I think that Christian minorities are being persecuted in Syria and even if the conflict were over they would still be persecuted.”

Indeed. While they are especially targeted by the Islamic State, before the new “caliphate” was established, Christians were and continue to be targeted by Muslims—Muslim mobs, Muslim individuals, Muslim regimes, and Muslim terrorists, from Muslim countries of all races (Arab, African, Asian, etc.)—and for the same reason: Christians are infidel number one. See Crucified Again: Exposing Islam’s New War on Christians for hundreds of anecdotes before the rise of ISIS as well as the Muslim doctrines that create such hate and contempt for Christians.

Conversely, Muslim refugees—as opposed to the many ISIS and other jihadi infiltrators posing as “refugees”—are not fleeing direct persecution, but chaos created by the violent and supremacist teachings of their own religion, Islam. It’s not for nothing that Samuel Huntington famously pointed out that “Islam’s borders are bloody, and so are its innards.” This means that when Muslims enter Western nations, chaos, persecution, and mayhem follow. Take a look at those West European cities—for example, Londonistan—that already have a large Muslim population for an idea.

Muslim persecution of Christians has been further enabled by Western policies

Muslim persecution of Christians has been further enabled by Western policies, especially those of the Obama administration. In other words, Western nations should accept Christian refugees on the basis that Western meddling in the Middle East is directly responsible for exacerbating the plight of Christian minorities. After all, Christians did not flee from Bashar Assad’s Syria, or Saddam Hussein’s Iraq, or Muamar Gaddafi’s Libya. Their systematic persecution began in earnest after the U.S. and others interfered in those nations in the name of “democracy.” All they did is unleash the jihadi forces that the dictators had long kept suppressed. Now the Islamic State is deeply embedded in all three nations, enslaving, raping, and slaughtering countless Christian “infidels” and other minorities.

Vladimir Putin’s thoughts on the refugee crisis are plainly true:

This is a crisis which was absolutely expected…. We in Russia and your humble servant said several years ago that there would be massive problems if our so-called western partners conduct what I have always called the “wrong” foreign policy, especially in regions of the Muslim World, the Middle East and north Africa, which they continue practically to this day.

Putin: People are running away not from the regime of Bashar Assad, but from Islamic State

The Russian leader correctly adds that “people are running away not from the regime of Bashar Assad, but from Islamic State, which seized large areas in Syria and Iraq, and are committing atrocities there. That is what they are escaping from.”

Thus if the West is responsible for unleashing the full-blown jihad on Christians, surely it is the latter that the West should prioritize, from a humanitarian point of view.

Unlike Muslims, or even Yazidis, Christians are easily assimilated in Western countries, due to the shared Christian heritage. As Slovakia, which prefers Christian refugees, correctly points out, Muslims would not fit in, including because there are no mosques in the Slavic nation. Conversely, “Slovakia as a Christian country can really help Christians from Syria to find a new home in Slovakia,” said an interior minister.

This too is common sense. The same Christian teachings that molded Europe over the centuries are the same ones that mold Middle Eastern Christians—whether Orthodox, Catholic, or Protestant. As San Diego’s Father Noel said in the context of the Iraqi Christian refugees who managed to flee ISIS but are now rotting in a U.S. detention center, Mideast Christians “who come here [America] ‘want to be good citizens’ and many who came here a decade ago are now lawyers, teachers, or other productive members of society.”

Meanwhile, Muslims follow a completely different blueprint, the Koran—which condemns Christians by name, calls for constant war (jihad) against all non-Muslims, and advocates any number of distinctly anti-Western practices. Hence it is no surprise that many Muslim asylum seekers are anti-Western at heart, if not members of jihadi organizations.

Mideast Christians bring trustworthy language and cultural skills that are beneficial to the West

Mideast Christians bring trustworthy language and cultural skills that are beneficial to the West. They understand the Middle Eastern—including Islamic—mindset and can help the West understand it. Moreover, unlike Muslims, Christians have no “conflicting loyalty” issues: Islamic law forbids Muslims from aiding “infidels” against fellow Muslims (click here to see some of the treachery this leads to in the U.S. and here to see the treachery Christians have suffered from their longtime Muslim neighbors and “friends”). Indeed, an entire book about how “double agent” Muslims have infiltrated every corner of the U.S. government exists. No such threat exists among Mideast Christians. They too render unto God what is God’s and unto Caesar what is Caesar’s.

Finally, it goes without saying that Mideast Christians have no sympathy for the very people and ideology that made their lives a living hell—the very people and ideology that are also hostile to everything in the West. Thus a win-win: the West and Mideast Christians complement each other, if only in that they share the same foe.

The same Islamic mentality that slaughters “infidel” Christians in the Middle East is now welcomed into the West with open arms

All the above reasons—from those that offer humanitarian relief to the true victims of persecution, to those that offer benefits to the West—are unassailable in their logic and wisdom. Yet, because Western progressives prioritize politically correct ideals and fantasies over stark reality, there is little chance that they will be considered.

Quite the reverse: in America and Britain persecuted Christians are “at the bottom of the heap” of refugees to be granted asylum. Muslims receive top priority. Since January 2015, the U.S. has granted asylum to approximately six Muslims for every Christian it takes in.

The reason for this is simple: for the progressive mindset—which dominates Western governments, media, and academia—taking in refugees has little to do with altruism and everything to do egoism: It matters little who is really being persecuted—as seen, the West is directly responsible for greatly exacerbating the sufferings of Christians.

No, what’s important is that we “feel good” about ourselves. By taking in “foreign” Muslims, as opposed to “siding” with “familiar” Christians, progressives get to feel “enlightened,” “open-minded,” “tolerant,” and “multicultural”—and that’s all that matters here.

Meanwhile, reality quietly marches on: The same Islamic mentality that slaughters “infidel” Christians in the Middle East is now welcomed into the West with open arms.

Warning: Pope Francis, Utopia and The 2030 Agenda

BY PATRICK WOOD FOR THE DAILYSURGE.COM

For the first time in the history of America, a Catholic Pope will address a joint session of the U.S. Congress on September 24, 2015.

With approximately one-third of Congress being Catholic, including Speaker Boehner and former Speaker Nancy Pelosi, this promises to be a defining moment of the 114th Congress.

But, why is the Pope really here and what is his real mission?

First, he is here to address the opening session of the UN Summit for the Adoption of Post-2015 Development Agenda (2030 Agenda) that starts the next morning. This is arguably the most important meeting of the United Nations since the so-called Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in 1992 that produced the Agenda 21 document and the doctrine of Sustainable Development itself.

Second, the Pope will enshrine his major Encyclical on climate-change titled Laudato Si’, On Care For Our Common Home, which is a forceful appeal for rapid implementation of all policies contained in 2030 Agenda, namely, Sustainable Development.

The 2030 Agenda promises the end of poverty and hunger, good education and jobs for every person, decent shelter and a life of personal dignity. These are lofty goals, but are they for real? Or do they sound like a bait-and-switch scheme that contains a potentially dangerous payload?

Background

The 2030 Agenda document proposes 17 Sustainable Development Goals and 169 targets to their achievement. The framers claim that there was wide public consultation achieved to build consensus between all stake-holders, public and private organizations and citizens. Nonsense.

The actual creation of the 2030 Agenda is easily traced directly back to an earlier UN project called the High-Level Panel of Eminent Persons on the Post-2015 Development Agenda that met in July 2012 and concluded on May 30, 2013. There were only 27 elite members of this group, each handpicked from around the world and summarily appointed by the UN Director-General Ban Ki-moon.

The U.S. was represented by John Podesta, founder of the Center for American Progress and member of the elitist Trilateral Commission, who subsequently went to work for President Obama as a Senior Policy Consultant on Climate Change.

The committee of 27 “Eminent persons” delivered their concluding document to be ratified by another UN group, the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development that met this summer from June 26 through July 8.

It is this very document that is to be presented for a global vote at the general plenary session of the UN on September 25. And, this is an all or nothing vote: Further changes will not be suggested or allowed.

Scope of Transformation

2030 Agenda builds upon Agenda 21 and Sustainable Development that was first created at the Earth Summit held in Rio De Janeiro in 1992. It not only extends the original goals, but it also gives them a definitive timeline – 2030 – to be fully implemented.

In simplest terms, Sustainable Development is a replacement economic system for Capitalism and Free Enterprise. It is a system based on resource allocation and usage rather than on supply and demand and free economic market forces.

Christiana Figueres, Executive Secretary of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change referred to this last March when she stated,

“This is the first time in the history of mankind that we are setting ourselves the task of intentionally, within a defined period of time to change the economic development model that has been reigning for at least 150 years, since the industrial revolution.” [Emphasis added]

She amplified by adding, “This is probably the most difficult task we have ever given ourselves, which is to intentionally transform the economic development model, for the first time in human history”

Dangerously Absurd

In short, twenty-seven appointed and narrow-minded UN loyalists have created deeply transformative policies and timelines to literally overturn the world’s current economic system for a completely untried and untested one, and yet it boldly promises to “end poverty and hunger, in all their forms and dimensions,” ensure that “all human beings can enjoy prosperous and fulfilling lives,” and that an era of global peace will result.

This is dangerously absurd. Any honest economist would instantly balk at such Pollyannaish promises of Utopia, and the American public should do so as well. The fact is that these wild promises of prosperity for all are merely the candy coating to deceive the world into going along with its own economic destruction. Yes, the stakes are really that high.

And now you have an idea of why Pope Francis – the most visible religious figure in the world – has been called in to deliver the keynote address on September 25th and why he will smooth-talk Congress the day before to minimize any possible resistance to the plans of these globalist hucksters.

P.S. President Obama has already marginalized Congress, pledging his unequivocal support and signature on the 2030 Agenda document.

This Kid Kicks Obammy’s Arse. Please Watch 2 Minute Smack Down.

It gives me hope that there are still some kids out there with half a brain. I mean you become so numb after a while listening to mindless drones (Kids) spew what they have been taught. Then add to it Black culture being what it is so it’s so refreshing to see this smart, apparently well educated, and I’m sure well parented kid just speak common sense. I know “common sense” sounds like a miracle these days. That shows you just how far we’ve fallen down the rabbit hole.

VIDEO: 13-YEAR-OLD BLACK KID LAYS THE SMACK DOWN ON OBAMA IN EPIC RANT

“You’re being ignorant. I think you’re incompetent and I don’t think you understand reality. What is this world you’re living in?”

by STEVE WATSON | INFOWARS.COM | SEPTEMBER 17, 2026

A black middle schooler posted an epic video rant asking the president what his real priorities are, and pointing out a number of hard truths this week.

13-year-old CJ Pearson from Georgia focuses on the story of Obama inviting a muslim student to the White House after the kid was arrested in Texas for making a clock, which officials initially thought was a bomb.

Calling Obama “ignorant,” “incompetent” unable to grasp reality, Pearson notes that while the kid got an open invite from Obama, the families of gunned down cops and those killed by illegal immigrants are simply ignored.

“Mr. President, when Kate Steinle was gunned down by an illegal immigrant you didn’t do anything — you didn’t call the family or invite them to the White House. Is that okay? I don’t think so, Mr. President,” Pearson urges.

“And to go even further, Mr. President, when cops are being gunned down, you’re not inviting their families to the White House. You never did.” Pearson adds.

“But when a Muslim kid builds a clock? ‘Oh, come on by.’ What is this world you’re living in?” he asks the president.

Pearson continued the rant by referring to the Dylan Roof shooting.

“You know, when the shooting in Chattanooga happened, it took you longer to lower the flag than it took you to light the White House in rainbow colors after the Supreme Court decision legalizing gay marriage,” he vents.

Pearson charges that the public perception of Obama’s inviting the muslim kid to the White House “fits into your agenda,” noting “That’s great for you.”

“But Mr. President, these people were gunned down. Kate Steinle was innocent. This man was deported but it was a sanctuary city so he was able to roam free.” Pearson further explains.

“Cops are being gunned down every single day because of your actions, Mr. President. Because you’re seeking to appease terrorists — domestic terrorists — and those domestic terrorists are the Black Lives Matter movement.” the middle schooler declares.

“And you think, Mr. President, that I’m going to respect you if you don’t respect the brave men and women and innocent people who lost their lives because of your incompetence. I’m sick and tired of it and I know the American people are, too,” Pearson concludes.

Pearson is executive director of a group called “Young Georgians in Government.”

His Facebook page says he is “committed to fighting for conservative principles and engaging young people in the political process.”

“Most young people really don’t have an interest in government or politics, but we need to pique that interest, we need to make sure that they know, the decisions politicians make are going to affect them,” the student told ABC 6 in a profile story last December.

Pearson’s rants have become popular online. Earlier in the year, he hit out at Obama regarding his administration’s agenda to downplay the ISIS threat.

“President Obama, You don’t love America. If you really did love America, you would call ISIS what it really is: an assault on Christianity, an assault on America and downright hate for the American values that our country holds. Freedom of speech, freedom of religion and every single thing that our country stands for.” Pearson stated at the time.

He added, “I hope that one day people will get enough guts to speak out against your downright hatred for this nation.”

Obama and Allies Seek to Nationalize Local Police

My Comments: People, this is exactly what Hitler did, this is a communist agenda. Please get on the phones and tell your reps you will not stand for this!

Written by Alex Newman and William F. Jasper for THE NEW AMERICAN MAGAZINE

policeOn December 18, 2014, President Obama signed an executive order creating the President’s Task Force on 21st Century Policing. In May 2015, the task force came out with its Final Report, which is commonly given the title “21st Century Policing.”

One of the report’s recommendations, which the Obama-friendly media fixated on, concerns greater restrictions on transfers of military equipment to local police agencies. However, as we reported in a related article (“What’s Happening to Our Police?“), the new “accountability” rules will not explicitly reduce the flow of war materials to law enforcement, but simply place more federal controls over local police. Moreover, the new Obama rules regarding military gear were just one component of a broader set of recommendations issued by Obama’s plan for “21st Century Policing” — the overarching theme of which was promoting increased federal control over law enforcement.

While speaking to a group of police at a carefully stage-managed event in Camden, New Jersey, the president also touted some of his other efforts to exert more control over police — officers who, in accordance with the Constitution, are supposed to serve and be accountable to local communities and the wishes of local citizens, not the mandates of the White House. Among other schemes, Obama boasted of his administration’s alleged efforts to “fight crime,” improve relations between police departments and the communities they serve, and promote “transparency.” He also touted a White House “data initiative” aimed at prodding police departments into following federal “guidelines” on data and body cameras.

Finally, Obama also celebrated federal “grants” created by the administration to promote and fund the implementation of dubious policies associated with “community policing strategies.” Those federal grants, of course, along with others, are at the heart of Obama’s efforts to nationalize everything from healthcare and education standards to law enforcement. Among the schemes to be promoted with the new grants are national standards for police departments receiving federal funds. Some critics have started describing the plot as “Common Core for police,” a reference to the Obama administration’s Department of Education efforts to bribe states into imposing the deeply controversial national K-12 school standards and the associated federal testing regime. The effort also comes just a few months after United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, citing Ferguson, demanded that American police submit to “international standards.”

According to a report by Obama’s task force released in March, two tentacles of the Department of Justice, the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) and the Office of Justice Programs, “should provide technical assistance and incentive funding to jurisdictions” that adhere to the White House plan, “in return for receiving federal funds.” The report also called for uniform federal standards for data collected by local police departments, and much more.

Even before citing militarization of police as an excuse to usurp more control over local police, Obama was celebrating the recommendations of his task force, and demanding rapid implementation. “I’m going to be asking Eric Holder and the Justice Department and his successor to go through all of these recommendations so that we can start implementing them,” he explained. “I know one area that’s going to be of great interest is whether we can expand the COPS program that in the past has been very effective, continues to be effective, but is largely underfunded.”

The recommendations offered a “great opportunity” to “really transform how we think about community law enforcement relations,” Obama said. “We need to seize that opportunity,” he continued, echoing the “never let a crisis go to waste” rhetoric of other statists. “This is something that I’m going to stay very focused on in the months to come.” He certainly was not kidding.

Just weeks after the report was released, the administration unveiled a list of six U.S. cities targeted to serve as “pilot sites” to develop and deploy federal guidance for local police — all of it supposedly to create “better procedures, reduce racial bias, and regain citizens’ trust.” The plan, officially dubbed the “National Initiative for Building Community Trust and Justice,” will use U.S. taxpayer dollars to deploy “experts” and “researchers” charged with training officers to act in a manner that the DOJ deems just — in essence doing the bidding of the Obama administration. Officially, the Justice Department will be helping local officials “fight crime” under the scheme, according to news reports.

Initially, the program, which will cost American taxpayers almost $5 million, will aim to “assess” the relationship between local police and the communities they serve. Then, the DOJ squads will work to develop plans supposedly aimed at enhancing “procedural justice,” reducing bias, and supporting “reconciliation in communities where trust has been eroded,” the Justice Department said in a statement announcing the plan. With more than two-thirds of Americans saying in a survey that the federal government is “out of control” and a “threat” to their liberties, it was not immediately clear how “trust” would be “restored” by deepening federal involvement.

The first six cities to be targeted as pilot sites will be Birmingham, Alabama; Fort Worth, Texas; Gary, Indiana; Minneapolis, Minnesota; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and Stockton, California. Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price described the program as “a tool to strengthen our partnership with the justice system.” But other police departments are also in the cross hairs. According to the official announcement, an unspecified number of “police departments and communities that are not pilot sites” will also be targeted for more DOJ “training” and “technical assistance.”

It bears mentioning that the DOJ, which supposedly will guide local law enforcement in proper procedures, has in recent years been exposed training state and local police to view citizens’ speech as potential indicators of terrorism — including among damning public expression mundane matters such as bumper stickers promoting the Bill of Rights or a U.S. withdrawal from the UN. Ironically, at the time of the announcements on pilot cities, the DOJ was being led by disgraced Attorney General Eric Holder, who was held in criminal contempt of Congress for trying to stonewall an investigation into the administration’s “Fast and Furious” scheme to arm Mexican drug cartels.

The efforts to further nationalize and federalize law enforcement are also in line with Obama’s campaign rhetoric about building a “civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded” as the U.S. military. And critics say the agenda should be ringing alarm bells nationwide.

“Americans everywhere should be very concerned about oversight of local police agencies,” explained former detective Jim Fitzgerald, the national field director for The John Birch Society, the parent organization of this magazine. The constitutionalist group, which has chapters in all 50 states, has been running a campaign for decades called “Support Your Local Police and Keep Them Independent.” The effort is meant to, among other goals, protect local communities from having their police departments turned into tentacles of an all-powerful federal government.

“These steps to exercise and take control over police departments should raise a red flag among police officials and give deep concern to anyone who understands the history of national police forces,” continued Fitzgerald. “Have we so soon forgotten the Gestapo and the KGB, both national police agencies, that terrorized the citizens of Germany and Russia and led to the imprisonment and deaths of tens of thousands of innocent men and women? Has there ever been a national police force that benefited the citizens who live under it? Never!”

Of course, the nationalization of police did not begin with Obama, and it probably will not end with him. So-called fusion centers, pairing local and state officials with federal bureaucrats under the sprawling “Homeland Security” banner, have been in place since the George W. Bush administration. And a broad range of DOJ offices and programs has been quietly expanding federal control over police for decades. But the trends are accelerating, and the endgame is becoming more clear.

police under fire coverDecentralized government is one of the cornerstones of America’s freedom and its constitutional system of federalism. Even if Obama’s radical plans to nationalize police departments were not unconstitutional, though, history provides numerous examples showing why national policing is not just unwise, but extremely dangerous to liberty. Congress must rein in Obama, and in the meantime, state and local governments should refuse to surrender self-government to an out-of-control White House in exchange for unconstitutional federal bribes. The American people, if they hope to preserve liberty and self-government, should work to support their local police, and keep them independent;

Trump’s Trump!

By G. Murphy Donovan FOR AMERICANTHINKER.COM

TRUMP CLANTrump Clan on Oprah

Donald Trump is a piece of work even by New York standards: tall, white, loud, brash, entrepreneurial, successful, rich, ruthlessly candid, well-dressed, and fond of heterosexual women. He has married at least three delicious ladies in fact. Trump has five children and seven grandchildren. Indeed, his progeny are well above average too, smartly groomed, photogenic, and successful to boot.

As far as we know, Donald does not have any tattoos, piercings, unpaid taxes, or under-aged bimbo interns. He is not a drunk or a junkie either. Trump projects and enterprises probably employ more folks than the NYC school system — or the United Nations.

You could say that Trump is living the life, not the life of Riley, but more like Daddy Warbucks with a comb over. “The Donald,” as one ex-wife calls him, is not just living the American dream. Trump is the dream — and proud of it.

You could do worse than think of Trump as upwardly mobile blue collar. He is the grandson of immigrants and the product of Long island, a Queens household, and a Bronx education. The Donald survived the Jesuits of Fordham University for two years before migrating to finish his baccalaureate at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

When readers of the New York Times, The New Yorker, and the New York Review of Books speak of “the city”, they are not talking about the Queens or the Bronx. Growing and schooling in the blue-collar boroughs gives Trump a curb level perspective, something seldom found in Manhattan. Or as any “D” Train alumnus might put it, Trump has “a pretty good Bravo Sierra detector.”

So what’s not to like about Donald Trump? He doesn’t just stay in four-star hotels; he builds them. He doesn’t just own luxury condominiums; he makes them. He doesn’t just own historic buildings; he restores them. He doesn’t just eat at the best restaurants; ke creates them. He just doesn’t belong to the best country clubs; he builds those, too.

And Donald Trump, unlike the Manhattan/Washington fantasy Press and every Beltway political pimp, doesn’t just pay lip service to a bigger and better economy, he creates micro-economies every day.

The only thing we don’t know about Donald Trump is why he would like to immigrate to the District of Columbia.

In any case, the merits of entrepreneurs like Trump might best be defined by the character or motives of his critics. Trump detractors are for the most part “B” list politicians, ambulance chasers, and a left-leaning Press corps that lionizes the likes of Nina Totenberg, Dan Rather, Chris Matthews, Andrea Mitchell, and Brian Williams.

If the truth were told, most of Trump’s critics are jealous, envious of his wealth -e- and they loath his candor. Donald might also be hated for what he is not. Trump is not a lawyer, nor is he a career politician who lives on the taxpayer dime. Trump is paying for his own campaign. Bernie, Barack, McCain, and Kerry could take enterprise lessons from a chap like Trump.

Unlike most government barnacles, Trump can walk and chew gum at the same time. He knows how to close a deal and build something. He is a net creator, not consumer, of a kind of wealth that provides “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” for Americans — real jobs not feather merchants.

Today, Trump has nothing left to prove. Yet, success has allowed him the rarest of public privileges, an electoral pulpit and the courage to speak his mind. Alas, truth is not necessarily a political asset in a socialized democracy.

Indeed, the erstwhile presidential candidate stepped on his crank recently by suggesting that Mexico, already exporting dangerous drugs, cheap tomatoes, and even cheaper labor, was also exporting violent felons to the US.

Truth hurts! Trump’s rude candor is underwritten by nearly half a million illegal felons in American jails. Coincidently, events have conspired to support Trump’s take on Mexican dystopia with the El Chapo Guzman jailbreak and the murder of Kathryn Steinle by Francisco Sanchez.

Senor Sanchez sported a lengthy criminal record and had been deported on four previous occasions. San Francisco, a “sanctuary” city, failed to honor existing warrants and released Sanchez from jail just before he blew Kathy Steinle away.

SANCHEZSanchez, repeat offender extrordinaire

As serendipity would have it, Trump then went to Phoenix on 12 July and gave a stem winder to a sell-out crowd on the subject of illegal immigration. Senator John McCain was not pleased to have The Donald on Arizona’s front lawn and intemperately called Trump supporters “crazies.” Trump returned fire saying that McCain was no hero.

Here again Trump cut to the quick, pointing out that no one qualifies as a hero because he was shot down or captured. Indeed, being a hostage in North Vietnam is not necessarily heroic either. McCain is thought by some to be a heroic because he refused to accept an early release.

In fact, the Hanoi parole offer was a ruse, a Hobson’s choice, designed to embarrass McCain and his father at CINCPAC.

If McCain took the parole and abandoned his fellow POWs, he would have shamed his father and been ostracized by shipmates. Indeed, had John McCain not been the son and grandson of famous nd victorious, Pacific Command flag officers, no one would have noticed him then or now.

Few of the demagogues who have come to John McCain’s defense could name any of the 600 Vietnam-era POWs other than McCain. McCain is famous today because he, like John Kerry, has parlayed a very average Vietnam military service into a three-decade political sinecure.

We know of 50,000 Vietnam veterans that might be more deserving than John McCain. Unfortunately, they died in a war that generals couldn’t win and politicians couldn’t abide. A body bag seldom gets to play the “hero.”

McCain is no political hero either.

He is famously ambiguous on domestic issues like immigration. He is also a Johnny-come-lately to Veterans Administration rot, which has metastasized as long as McCain has been in office. On foreign policy, McCain is a Victoria Nuland era crackpot, supporting East European coups, playing cold warrior, and posturing with neo-Nazis in Kiev. McCain pecks at Putin too because the Senate, like the Obama crew, hasn’t a clue about genuine threats like the ISIS jihad or the latest Islam bomb.

To date, Trump has run a clever campaign. He is chumming, throwing red meat and blood into campaign waters and all the usual suspects are in a feeding frenzy. McCain, the Press, the Left, and the Republican establishment all have something to say about “the Donald.” It is truly amazing how cleverly Trump manages to manipulate the establishment.

If you are trying to sell an idea or a candidacy, there’s no such thing as bad publicity.

Who knows where the Trump campaign goes? For the moment, he has scored direct hits on Mexico and McCain. With El Capo on the loose again, every time a toilet flushes in Sinaloa, Mexican garbage is likely spill out in Los Angeles, Hollywood, San Francisco, Portland, or Seattle. Indeed, it’s hard to believe that the Left Coast could survive without cheap labor, pistileros, meth, coke, heroin, or weed. Necrotic immigration and its byproducts are ready made targets for a gunslinger like Trump.

Trump is no bigot. He probably employs more Latinos and Blacks than Enrique Peña Nieto or Barack Obama. In his own way, Donald Trump is both immigrant and POW, a refugee from Queens and still a prisoner of Wharton. The Donald is The Dude, the guy with babes and a role of Benjamins that would choke a shark. He is the wildly successful capitalist that some of us love to hate.

Before democratic socialism, success and effectiveness were measures of merit. It doesn’t take much insight to compare Trump’s various enterprises with federal programs. Public education, banking oversight, public housing slums, poverty doles, veterans fiascos, Internal Revenue hijinks, and even some Defense Department procurement programs are consensus failures. The F-35 “Lightning” fighter is an illustration, arguably the most expensive single DOD boondoggle in history. Pentagon progressives seldom win a catfight these days, but they still spend like sailors.

If and when Trump fails, he is out of business.

In Trump’s world, failure has consequences. In contrast, Washington rewards failure with better funding. Indeed, generational program failure is now a kind of perverse incentive for Beltway politicians and apparatchiks to throw good money after failed programs.

The difference between Trump and McCain should be obvious to any fair observer; Trump has done something with his talents. McCain, in contrast, is coasting on a military myth and resting on the laurels of Senatorial tenure.

Any way you look at it, Donald Trump is good for national politics, good for democracy, good for America, and especially good for candor. If nothing else, The Donald may help Republicans to pull their heads out of that place where the sun seldom shines.

The author had two tours in Vietnam as a junior officer and subsequently served as command Intelligence briefer in Hawaii where he updated CINCPAC, John McCain’s father, on POW matters.
