Third World countries want more than $100B a year in “climate change” reparations

This is insanity.

USA Today reports, Sept. 12, 2015, that preparatory talks ahead of the UN Conference on Climate Change to be held in Paris in December has representatives from developing nations asking for more than an already agreed upon $100 billion per year for climate change mitigation measures.

Third World countries claim that they’re suffering from extreme weather disasters caused by “climate change” — what the greens used to call “global warming” — and they want rich countries like the United States to pay to relocate their populations to safer terrains (climate change refugees) and as reparations for their failure to follow through on aid pledges after weather disasters.

An example of the latter was Cyclone Pam’s devastation of islands in the South Pacific last March. But attention quickly turned to the massive earthquake in Nepal soon thereafter, which left small countries such as the island nation of Vanuatu…

Calais: Illegals complain and throw away food given by French leftists

Some French leftists decided to hand out food to illegal immigrants in Calais. Illegals quickly took over the distribution of the food and stormed the van, trying to get in and grab all they could. Afterwards the woman visited a camp and the illegal immigrants were complaining to her that ”the food is not good”. The ungrateful illegals then took the food and threw it on the ground. Illegal immigrants in Europe expect to be placed in 5 star hotels when they arrive, when their expectations aren’t met they get aggressive. How long will we tolerate these demanders?

One comment stated: When you have a plague of vermin, it’s not a good idea to feed them, other than perhaps warfarin.

Report: America attracting poor, uneducated immigrants

POOR

BY PAUL BEDARD FOR WASHINGTONEXAMINER.COM

The helping hand offered by social welfare programs is being utilized by most legal and illegal immigrant families, the latest sign that many immigrants come to America for the taxpayer-funded benefits like Medicaid, subsidized food and cash, according to a new report based on Census data.

In analyzing new Census reports, the Center for Immigration Studies found that immigrant families with one or more children use welfare far more than “native” American families.

“Welfare use by illegal immigrant households is certainly a concern, but the bigger issue is welfare use by legal immigrants,” said Steven Camarota, the Center’s director of research and author of the report.

“Three-fourths of immigrant households using welfare are headed by legal immigrants. Legal immigration is supposed to benefit the country, yet so many legal immigrants are not able to support themselves or their children. This raises important questions about the selection criteria used for legal immigration,” said Camarota.

The report highlights the economics of immigration, especially illegal immigration, and comes as Syrian refugees are seeking to settle in European nations that provide rich welfare benefits.

The report also suggests that America is attracting poor and uneducated immigrants.

“Low levels of education — not legal status — are the main reason immigrant welfare use is high,” said the Center’s preview of their report, released Thursday.

It shows that legal immigrant households make extensive use of welfare, while illegal immigrant households primarily benefit from food programs and Medicaid through U.S.-born children.

According to the report, provided in advance to Secrets, “Households headed by legal immigrants have statistically significant higher use of welfare than native households overall, and for cash and food programs as well as Medicaid. This is the case a decade and a half after the 1996 welfare reform law, which was supposed to greatly limit immigrant access to the welfare system.”

Foreign-born women gain 141,000 jobs, U.S.-born women lose 90,000

WORKING WOMEN

By Paul Bedard FOR THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER

The surge in the numbers of foreign-born women getting U.S. jobs at the expense of American-born women expanded in August, continuing an eight-year trend.

New Bureau of Labor Statistics info detailing August jobs shows that the number of U.S.-born women 16 and older with jobs declined by 90,000 and rose for foreign-born women by 141,000.

There are currently 59.258 million American-born working women compared to 10.028 foreign-born working women.

Secrets last month reported that all job gains among women since the 2007 recession hit went to foreign-born women workers.

In December of 2007, 9.041 million foreign-born women workers were employed, for an increase of 1.128 million. In December of 2007, 59.322 million American-born women workers were employed, for a decrease of 161,000.

The total number of foreign workers employed in the U.S. stands at 24.914 million.

Dear Reader,

What do you do when you’re caught in an ugly lie? Well, if you’re a drug company, you try to cover it up with another one.

We’ve been told for years that nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like aspirin and ibuprofen are safe for everything from headaches to arthritis. Even after people started dropping dead from stomach bleeding and heart attacks.

And now one of the largest NSAID makers on the planet is rolling out a new lie — and it may be the greatest whopper yet.

They’re claiming that a new study proves that over-the-counter NSAIDs are safe for your heart after all — and that everything you’ve read before was just a bad dream.

But this research may be the worst case of media manipulation in Big Pharma’s entire disgusting history. It’s a Grade A scam meant to keep you popping that daily Motrin — even if it kills you.

Rigging the results

You’ve listened to me sound the alarm over and over on the risks of NSAIDs like aspirin and ibuprofen. And it looks like some folks at the FDA must be subscribing to my eAlert, too.

Because just this summer they announced that NSAIDs would carry a warning label admitting they increase your risk of heart attacks, heart failure or strokes.

Even if you have no history of heart disease and have only been taking the meds for a short time.

And what a coincidence! Just weeks later we have a new study telling us to hold the phone — that NSAIDs are practically as safe for your heart as exercise or a garden salad.

The European Society of Cardiology Congress recently issued a press release — which got picked up by lots of media outlets — saying a study presented at one of its recent events “Quells concerns about NSAID safety!”

And it’s clear that they either didn’t read what the study really said — or they just didn’t want you to know.

You see, the research was actually sponsored by Pfizer, the maker of pain meds Advil and Celebrex, which should make you suspicious right off the bat. It was never peer reviewed or published, probably because most self-respecting journals would have rejected this garbage outright.

All the study did was compare OTC NSAIDs like ibuprofen (Motrin) and diclofenac (Aleve) to Celebrex — a COX-2 inhibitor drug, which is basically a super-NSAID. They looked at two dangerous drugs side by side and decided that — since the NSAIDs weren’t any deadlier than Celebrex — they must be safe.

It’s like comparing nitroglycerin to gasoline, then saying the gasoline is nothing to worry about.

It sounds crazy, but I’m serious. There wasn’t even a placebo group, so we couldn’t see how much better people fared when they didn’t take these meds.

That’s Science:101 — and researchers never leave out a placebo group unless they’re trying to pull a fast one.

Well, unlike the Big Pharma shills who put out this press release — or the reporters who ran with it — I actually read the study. And here’s what Pfizer and its hand-picked research team hoped you wouldn’t learn:

  • Both groups reported heart problems — and there were actually more cases among the folks taking OTC meds.
  • Half the folks taking Celebrex and one-third of the OTC patients dropped out of the study because of adverse events and other issues.
  • A whopping 5.2 percent of the Celebrex group and nearly 6 percent of the OTC patients reported gastrointestinal issues. And I’m betting that those patients who were writhing in stomach pain would not suggest you quit worrying about NSAIDs.

You’ll probably never see a more obvious case of Press Release Medicine than this turkey. That’s the sneaky way that companies like Pfizer pull off stealth marketing in this era of the 24/7 news cycle.

They toss out a press release with a catchy headline and hope that lazy TV talking heads will just read what they’re handed without ever stopping to wonder, “Wait a minute. That doesn’t make sense.”

And it makes even less sense to believe that this Pharma-sponsored research has told us anything new or reassuring about the safety of NSAIDs.

To Your Good Health,

Jenny Thompson

Tripwire Crossed – Rick Perry Exits Race, Who’s Next? – Media Continues Baiting Candidates…

I step aside knowing our party is in good hands,’ the former Texas governor says.

By KATIE GLUECK for POLITICO.COM

Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry on Friday announced that he was suspending his presidential campaign, becoming the first Republican to drop out of the race and kicking off the winnowing stage of the crowded GOP contest.

“We have a tremendous field—the best in a generation—so I step aside knowing our party is in good hands,” Perry said at a conservative conference in St. Louis.

The longest-serving governor in Texas history, Perry had never lost a race in his home state in his three-decades-long career, making his stumbles in the national spotlight this year, and during his ill-fated 2012 bid, all the more humbling.

As a titan in the Texas political arena, Perry entered the 2012 GOP primary as the frontrunner, only to watch his campaign implode amid a series of high-profile missteps. In an attempt at political redemption, the former governor spent close to two years traveling and studying up on policy issues in the run-up to 2016, seeking to rehabilitate his tarnished image. But the spectacular nature of his 2012 collapse proved difficult to overcome and he struggled to remain relevant. Fundraising was a challenge, and he failed to gain traction in the polls despite spending significant time in the early states, especially Iowa, and despite the assistance of a well-funded super PAC.

“I share this news with no regrets,” Perry said Friday. “It has been a privilege and an honor to travel this country, to speak with the American people about their hopes and dreams, to see a sense of optimism prevalent despite a season of cynical politics. And as I approach the next chapter in life, I do so with the love of my life by my side, Anita Perry. We have our house in the country, we have two beautiful children and two adorable grandchildren, four dogs, and the best sunset from our front porch that you could ever imagine. Life is good. And I am a blessed man.”

Perry began alerting donors and supporters as early as Thursday that he was planning to drop out, said Doug Deason, son of Texas billionaire Darwin Deason, who gave $5 million to Perry’s super PAC. The Deasons received a call from Perry on Thursday alerting them to his move, and they plan to watch the field play out further before committing.

When Perry announced his candidacy for a second time on June 4, his aides and allies said America would meet the man Texas already knew — a powerful, strategic-minded, winning politician who would be unimpeded by the post-surgery back pain that Perry has said deeply hindered him the first time around. On his second try, Perry came across as more thoughtful and serious, sometimes displaying a near-wonkish understanding of policy issues — particularly foreign policy.

But despite adding more depth to his already strong retail politicking skills and ability to deliver a fiery speech, he was never able to overcome the memories of 2012.

His near-broke campaign had been in free fall since he stopped paying his staff earlier this summer.

One particularly painful moment came last month when Perry returned to the Iowa State Fair, where four years earlier he was mobbed by cameras and fairgoers. But in 2015, cameras were few and far between, and he flipped pork chops, played ring toss and traversed the fairgrounds mostly unrecognized.

“There are people who can keep a pretty small footprint,” he said at the time, denying rumors that he would drop out of the race for lack of money. “I’m one of them.”

By this week, he was down to one paid staffer in Iowa, one in South Carolina and none in New Hampshire. He was foundering in the polls after failing to qualify for the main stage debate in the first GOP primary contest and his weak polling support had once again relegated him to the second-tier debate next week.

Even so, his super PAC effort, run by influential Mississippi Republican operative Austin Barbour, remained well-funded and was running an independent ground game on behalf of Perry in Iowa, putting him in a better organizational position than many of the other candidates who remain in the field — including Jim Gilmore and George Pataki, two former governors who have also struggled to gain attention. The relative health of his super PAC, in contrast to the gasping Perry campaign, had raised the prospect of a new presidential campaign phenomenon — a barely breathing campaign enabled by a well-stocked super PAC.

“We are obviously disappointed that Governor Perry decided to suspend his campaign because we believe strongly in his ability to lead America out of the Obama era, but support his decision,” Barbour said in a statement. “We were proud to stand with him in this campaign. We wish Gov. Perry and Anita the best.”

In a subsequent interview, Barbour said the news came as a shock — he didn’t find out until late Friday afternoon, after he finished coaching his son’s football practice.

“There were so many rumors, all of these rumors, but we were very surprised, and obviously sad, but we totally understand and respect his decision,” Barbour said Friday night. “We felt like we’d really turned the corner in Iowa, but it’s a personal decision and we totally respect it.”

After Perry’s announcement Friday, praise for his legacy quickly poured in from several other candidates, including Marco Rubio, Lindsey Graham, Jeb Bush and Rick Santorum.

“Governor Perry has dedicated his entire life to his family, friends, and Jesus Christ,” read Rubio’s statement. “He served in the United States Air Force and as governor of Texas with distinction, and I have no doubt that his service to our nation is not over. I commend him for running an honorable, positive campaign, and wish the best to him and his family.”

Added Graham, who was often publicly chummy with Perry, “.@GovernorPerry, I’m proud to call you my friend and I wish you the best in the future.”

Perry also earned plaudits from Donald Trump, who called Perry a “terrific guy” and said he wished him well — despite Perry’s harsh prior criticism of the real estate mogul.

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, who served as solicitor general when Perry was in the governor’s mansion, released a lengthy statement praising Perry as a “friend,” “remarkable public servant” and “proud veteran who bravely served our nation,” and urged that others donate to two veterans’-related foundations as Cruz and his wife did on Friday.

“The entire Republican field was unquestionably made stronger by the experience and wisdom he brought to the race,” Cruz said.

With Perry — once a champion fundraiser — out of the race, the Texas senator could be the immediate beneficiary: the two will no longer be rivals for home state dollars. People close to the Cruz campaign say that a number of donors who were sitting on the sidelines out of respect for Perry would now feel comfortable throwing their support to the other Texan in the race.
