Trump Delivers Solid Outline of How Mexico Pays for Border Wall - POTUS Balks, Liberal Media Apoplectic…

Safe Space Bans “Hand Gestures Which Denote Disagreement”

Safe Space Bans “Hand Gestures Which Denote Disagreement”

What do you do once you’ve banned dissenting speech? Why you ban dissenting hand gestures. Then dissenting eye and eyebrow movements. Then dissenting thoughts.

Imogen Wilson, the vice-president for academic affairs at Edinburgh University Students’ Association (EUSA), spoke out against safe space rules becoming “a tool for the hard left to use when they disagree with people”, following the incident last week.According to the association’s rules, student council meetings should be held in a “safe space environment”, defined as “a space which is welcoming and safe and includes the prohibition of discriminatory language and actions”.

This includes “refraining from hand gestures which denote disagreement”, or “in any other way indicating disagreement with a point or points being made”.

Although the vote went in her favour, with 18 people voting to remove her and 33 voting for her to be allowed to remain, she was later threatened with another complaint after shaking her head while someone was speaking.

Yes, there is also to be no head shaking. Or any facial expressions whatsoever. And obviously the subject is a safe space for anti-Semitism.

She said: “At that meeting we were discussing BDS, the movement to boycott Israel. I made a long and passionate speech against us subscribing to this, on the basis it encourages anti-Semitism on campus. It was only after I made that speech that someone made a safe space complaint. I can’t help but think it was a political move against me.”

Of course it was.

Safe spaces are meant to be safe for hating the right sort of people. The people the left finds worthy of hating.

Trump: Obama Is “Incompetent”, “Truly Doesn’t Know What He’s Doing”

“What’s going on in this country is crazy”

GOP frontrunner Donald Trump has lashed out at Barrack Obama in retaliation for the incumbent President’s comments about Trump at last week’s Nuclear Security Summit in Washington D.C.

In an interview on “Full Measure with Sharyl Attkisson”, Trump said “Look, I’ve been very critical because I happen to think he’s incompetent as a president, and I know more about nuclear war than he will ever know.”

Obama told the media and gathered delegates Friday that Trump “doesn’t know much about foreign policy or nuclear policy or the Korean Peninsula or the world generally.”

Obama seemingly refuses to even mention Trump by name, opting instead to describe him as “the person who made the statements”.

Obama continued “The president of the United States needs to know what’s going on around the world and has to put in place the kinds of policies that lead not only to our security and prosperity, but will have an impact on everybody else’s security and prosperity.”

Trump added that Obama “truly doesn’t know what he’s doing” claiming that the president is allowing the US to be taken for a ride on the world stage.

Trump repeated the incompetent charge in a speech to supporters in Wisconsin:p hit back at Obama, stating “We are right now the policeman of the world. We have $19 trillion in debt that’s going to be $21 trillion dollars in debt.”

“What’s going on in this country is crazy. We have a bubble, we’re sitting on top of a bubble; and yet we’re giving military protection to Japan and Germany and Saudi Arabia and South Korea, and many, many other countries. I could keep going.”

In related news, a Quinnipiac University poll released Tuesday shows that 9 out of 10 Trump backers consider their “beliefs and values are under attack.”

The survey also found that 85 percent of Trump supporters agree with the statement, “America has lost its identity,” while 78 percent “strongly agree” that they’re “falling further and further behind economically.”

The poll also found that 84 percent of Trump backers want “a leader who is willing to say or do anything to solve America’s problems,” and that 90 percent believe most “public officials don’t care what people like me think.”

Swiss Pol: Refugee Crisis Could Trigger a New World War

Civilizations that fail to secure their borders are doomed

Swiss People’s Party (SVP) member of parliament Roger Köppel warns that the European migrant crisis is so out of control that it could lead to a new world war.

Writing in the Weltwoche daily newspaper, Köppel argues that “Europe is about to abolish itself” due to a “megalomaniac” open border policy overseen by the likes of Angela Merkel,

“The basic problem today is Islam,” writes Köppel, pointing out that the numerous terrorists who were born in Europe merely proves that integration has completely failed.

“The virulence of the Islamist terror is a fact. Concealment and glossing over does not help….France and Belgium are just a taste. It is an illusion to believe that politics can cope with this mass migration,” asserts Köppel.

Cautioning that the failure of the elite to acknowledge that their failed policies caused the crisis will lead to “political extremism,” Köppel draws parallels to World War I, warning that civilizations that fail to secure their borders are doomed and that ‘disaster’ is on the horizon.

Köppel’s comments echo those made by numerous other prominent political and military leaders in recent months.

Earlier this year, Norwegian Army Chief Odin Johannessen remarked that Europe must be prepared to “fight” to defend its values against the threat posed by radical Islam.

It was also revealed back in January that the chief of the Swedish army General Anders Brännström ordered his troops to prepare for a war in Europe against skilled opponents “within a few years”.

A month before that, Swiss army chief André Blattmann warned that the risk of social unrest in Europe was intensifying and that citizens should arm themselves.

“The threat of terror is rising, hybrid wars are being fought around the globe; the economic outlook is gloomy and the resulting migration flows of displaced persons and refugees have assumed unforeseen dimensions,” said Blattmann.

Top security experts in Germany also told Chancellor Angela Merkel last October that the middle class was becoming “radicalized” as a result of her open borders migrant policy and that domestic disorder could ensue as a result.

Meanwhile, in France, security forces have been making preparations for mass civil unrest and radicalized immigrants taking over entire neighborhoods.

Benedicte Bjørnland, the head of Norway’s Police Security Service (SSP) also warned in February that the importation of large numbers of migrants who fail to assimilate into western society could spark civil unrest and a groundswell of right-wing extremism.

Ford to invest $1.6 billion for new plant in Mexico

Ford said Thursday that it will launch four all-new sport-utility vehicles over the next four years in recognition of the growing global popularity of SUVs and crossovers.

Ford is among at least a half-dozen automakers that have either expanded production or built new plants in Mexico in recent years.

http://www.freep.com/story/money/cars/ford/2016/04/05/ford-invest-16-billion-new-plant-mexico/82645712/

Ford said today it will invest $1.6 billion to build a new plant in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, that will be manufacturing small cars by 2018, making it the latest automaker to expand its presence there.

Ford’s investment in Mexico will create more than 2,800 jobs by 2020, delivering a blow to the UAW, which pushed for higher wages in its contract talks with the automaker last year. The announcement also comes amid a presidential election where the the leading Republican candidate, Donald Trump, has publicly pressured Ford to drop its plans to expand in Mexico.

Ford said today it remains committed to investing in the U.S. and adding jobs in America even as it expands its presence in Mexico.

“We have to make decisions on a global scale because we compete globally,” Joe Hinrichs, Ford’s vice president and president of the America’s, told the Free Press. “But lets be clear: We are a proud American company and the majority of our investment happens here in the U.S.”

Hinrichs said Ford has hired 25,000 workers in the U.S. in the past five years and produces more cars in America than any other automaker.

Last month Trump said he would stop Ford from building in Mexico if he is elected president said he would threaten the company and any other automaker who does so with a 35% tariff on any products or parts imported into the U.S.

“Within 24 to 48 hours I will get a call from the head of Ford and he will say, ‘Mr. President, we have decided we’re going to build our new plant in the United States.’ … That’s 100% sure,” Trump said in March when he spoke in Warren. “They’re going to say, ‘We’re moving back. You want us to move to Michigan?’ And I’ll say, ‘Yeah.'”

Since then Ford CEO Mark Fields has repeatedly said the automaker remains committed to investing in the U.S. but will not alter its plans to also expand in Mexico.

Today, Hinrichs said the investment in Mexico will not result in a loss of jobs in the U.S.

In fact, Hinrichs said said Ford made a commitment in November to invest $9 billion in U.S. plants and creates or retain more than 8,500 jobs as part of a new four-year contract with the UAW. Of that, $4.8 billion goes to 11 facilities in Michigan.

Despite that commitment, Ford made it clear last summer that it planned to move production of its Ford Focus and C-Max hybrids cars from a plant in Wayne, Michigan to another country by 2018. Ford has said it will replace those cars with other products, most likely a mid-size Ford Ranger pickup and a new Ford Bronco SUV.

Hinrichs declined to say today what products Ford the automaker plans to make at its new plant in Mexico but did say the company intends to make the Focus in a “lower cost” country.

“When we look at our manufacturing footprint, especially with small cars, we have not made it a secret that we want to improve the profitability of small cars,” Hinrichs said.

Last fall, the UAW’s pushed Ford as well as General Motors and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles to largely eliminate a two-tier wage scale. Under the new contact entry-level workers hired after 2007 who are making between $15.78 and $19.28 per hour will see their wages raised immediately to $17 to $22.50 and then up to about $29 per hour over an eight-year period.

The automaker also said last year that it plans to spend $2.5 billion on new engine and transmission plants in Chihuahua and Guanajuato, in central Mexico, creating 3,800 jobs.

But Ford is hardly alone. In recent years automakers that include General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Nissan, Mazda, and Volkswagen have all announced plans to either expand existing plants or build new plants in Mexico. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles also has said it is considering an expansion of its production there.

Mexico has seen a 40% increase in auto jobs since 2008 to 675,000 last year while the U.S. saw only a 15% increase in the same period to more than 900,000, according to the Center for Automotive Research in Ann Arbor.

In 2014, automakers announced $18.25 billion in additional investments in North America. The breakdown: almost $10.5 billion for the U.S., $7 billion in new projects for Mexico, and a single $750-million project for Canada, according to the Center for Automotive Research. That investment is on top of the 18 plants already in Mexico, and at least five more planned or under construction.

By 2020, Mexico is expected to build one in four vehicles in a North American industry of 18.6 million units.

Union leaders often say automotive jobs are going to Mexico because of the North American Free Trade Agreement that was signed into law in 1993 by U.S. President Bill Clinton, but that is just one among several factors.

In addition to NAFTA, Mexico has 10 other free trade agreements covering 43 countries, according to ProMexico, an economic development arm of the Mexican government. Automotive executives also say Mexico’s ports and rail systems make it easy to export cars out of the country.

Mexico’s wages are also far lower than U.S. wages. The average Mexican worker assembling vehicles or making parts earns $7.79 per hour including benefits, according to the Center for Automotive Research. That’s substantially less than $37.38 in the U.S. and $39.04 in Canada.

“When you talk about small car profitability, all of these factors matter,” Hinrichs said.

What Trump has wrought

Pat Buchanan: Candidate unleashed ‘the mightiest force of the 21st century: nationalism’

As Wisconsinites head for the polls, our Beltway elites are almost giddy. For they foresee a Badger State bashing for Donald Trump, breaking his momentum toward the Republican nomination.

Should The Donald fall short of the delegates needed to win on the first ballot, 1,237, there is growing certitude that he will be stopped. First by Ted Cruz; then, perhaps, by someone acceptable to the establishment, which always likes to have two of its own in the race.

But this city of self-delusion should realize there is no going back for America. For, whatever his stumbles of the last two weeks, Trump has helped to unleash the mightiest force of the 21st century: nationalism.

Transnationalism and globalism are moribund.

First among the issues on which Trump has triumphed – “We will build the wall – and Mexico will pay for it!” – is border security.

Republican candidates who failed to parrot Trump on illegal immigration were among the first casualties.

For that is where America is, and that is where the West is.

Consider Europe. Four months ago, Angela Merkel was Time’s Person of the Year for throwing open the gates to the “huddled masses” of the Middle and Near East.

Merkel’s Germany is now leading the EU in amassing a huge bribe to the Turks to please take them back, and keep them away from the Greek islands that are now Islam’s Ellis Island into Europe.

Africa’s population will double to 2.5 billion by 2050. With 60 percent of Africans now under 25 years of age, millions will find their way to the Med to cross to the Old Continent where Europeans are aging, shrinking and dying. Look for gunboats in the Med.

If immigration is the first issue where Trump connected with the people, the second is trade.

Republicans are at last learning that trade deficits do matter, that free trade is not free. The cost comes in dead factories, lost jobs, dying towns and the rising rage of an abandoned Middle America whose country this is and whose wages have stagnated for decades.

Economists who swoon over figures on consumption forget what America’s 19th-century meteoric rise to self-sufficiency teaches, and what all four presidents on Mount Rushmore understood.

Production comes before consumption. Who owns the orchard is more essential than who eats the apples. We have exported the economic independence Hamilton taught was indispensable to our political independence. We have forgotten what made us great.

China, Japan, Germany – the second, third and fourth largest economies on earth – all owe their prosperity to trade surpluses run for decades at the expense of the Americans.

A third casualty of Trumpism is the post-Cold War foreign policy consensus among liberal interventionists and neoconservatives.

Trump subjects U.S. commitments to a cost-benefit analysis, as seen from the standpoint of cold national interest.

What do we get from continuing to carry the largest load of the defense of a rich Europe, against a Russia with one-fourth of Europe’s population?

How does Vladimir Putin, leader of a nation that in the last century lost its European and world empires and a third of its landmass, threaten us?

Why must we take the lead in confronting and containing Putin in Ukraine, Crimea and Georgia? No vital U.S. interest is imperiled there, and Russia’s ties there are older and deeper than ours to Puerto Rico.

Why is it the responsibility of the U.S. Pacific Fleet to defend the claims of Hanoi, Manila, Kuala Lumpur and Brunei, to rocks, reefs and islets in the South China Sea – against the claims of China?

American hawks talk of facing down Beijing in the South and East China Seas while U.S. companies import so much in Chinese-made goods they are fully subsidizing Beijing’s military budget.

Does this make sense?

Patriotism, preserving and protecting the unique character of our nation and people, economic nationalism, America First, staying out of other nation’s wars – these are as much the propellants of Trumpism as is the decline of the American working and middle class.

Trump’s presence in the race has produced the largest turnout ever in the primaries of either party. He has won the most votes, most delegates, most states. Wisconsin aside, he will likely come to Cleveland in that position.

If, through rules changes, subterfuge and faithless delegates, party elites swindle him out of the nomination, do they think that the millions who came out to vote for Trump will go home and say: We lost it fair and square?

Do they think they can then go back to open borders, amnesty, a path to citizenship, the Trans-Pacific Partnership and nation building?

Whatever happens to Trump, the country has spoken. And if the establishment refuses to heed its voice, and returns to the policies the people have repudiated, it should take heed of John F. Kennedy’s warning:

“Those who make peaceful revolution impossible, make violent revolution inevitable.”
