Alone at his Talladega home Wednesday morning, Chris Gaither, 11, says he retrieved a knife and then his stepdad’s 9mm pistol after his dog alerted him to a break in.
“I seen the guy and I warned him four times to get out and then he ran upstairs,” Chris said. “And he came back down with a .38 in his hand.”
The young boy recalled being scared after the suspected burglar pointed the gun at him, but Chris proceeded to stand his ground.
“When he was coming downstairs he told me he was going to kill me and F you and all that,” Chris told WVTM reporters.
“I told him I was gonna kill him and all that with the gun if he didn’t get out of my house,” the home school student said.
With a hamper in tow, the intruder attempted to flee the home and jump over a fence, but Chris already had him in his sights.
“I shot through a hamper that he was carrying. It was a full metal jacket bullet it went straight through the back of his leg,” Chris described.
When all was said and done, Chris fired 12 shots at the man, with the last bullet hitting him “and he started crying like a little baby.”
Chris suspects the burglar didn’t realize the gun was authentic until it was too late.
“When I pulled the gun out on him, I guess he didn’t think it was a real gun because he just kept on walking,” Chris said.
The boy credited his stepfather with teaching him how to properly use a firearm, and says he also “plays zombies for target practice.”
Asked if he had a message for the burglar, Chris imparted, “I hope you learned your lesson from coming to this house and trying to steal stuff.”

The University of Washington’s cheerleading team, which is holding tryouts later this week, has pulled a poster from its Facebook page with tips for prospective cheerleaders after it drew a social-media backlash, The Seattle Times reports.
What the squad sees as visual consistency and decorum – “bronze, beachy glow” and “flattering eye shadow” but not “too much makeup” or raccoon eyes, and no tattoos or ponytails – its critics see as imperialism:
“One of the first things that comes mind is objectification and idealization of Western beauty, which are values I would like to believe the University doesn’t want to perpetuate,” [Jazmine Perez, director of programming for student government,] said. …
Said Signe Burchim, a UW senior: “I think it’s really upsetting and kind of disheartening the way it’s basically asking these women who want to try out to perform their femininity — but not too much.”
The Times says that Washington State University and Louisiana State put similar posters on their Facebook pages, though the LSU poster seems to have been removed since the Timesstory went up Wednesday. (NBC News still has it.)

One male on Facebook said the UW poster was evidence of “overt racism” in the cheer squad and called it “offensive, exclusionary and ignorant. Those are not values of Seattle or the Puget Sound community.”
As someone who lived in Seattle for many years, I can confirm that beauty and femininity are not Emerald City values.

“I’m anticipating we’ll be doing a victory dance,” said Cox, 47, a chainsaw artist and founder of Bikers for Trump, thousands of whom he estimates will hit the Ohio city for the July 18-21 Republican National Convention.

The students gasped in surprise and scurried for their video phones when Obama interrupted White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest, in order to lecture them with a pep talk and tell them what he expects of them in years to come.
“I hear there are some hot-shot journalists here,” Obama said to the gathering.
The president then told the student journalists that “I’m counting on you” to influence their peers and ‘lead the country’.
“If you participate and you take the time to be informed about the issues and you actually turn out and your peers turn out, you change the country,” Obama said.
“You do. It may not always happen as fast as you’d like, but you’ll change it. So, I’ll keep on talking about this even after I leave the presidency.” he added.
“So I’m counting on you guys. Don’t let me down. All right? Don’t let the country down.” Obama continued.
“You guys are going to be delivering the message to your peer group that this is the greatest country on earth, but only because we have great citizens who are willing to invest their time and energy and effort to become informed on the issues, to argue about it in a respectful way, and to try to collectively solve the many challenges that we face.” he urged.
“The good news is that there is no challenges, as JFK said, that man creates that man can’t solve. I would add women to that.” he concluded.
Earlier in the exchange, while he was fielding questions, Obama complained about being unfairly targeted by the media.
“Sometimes both Josh and I probably have our disagreements with the press corps and feel picked on and misunderstood,” Obama to ripples of laughter from the students.
“But the truth of the matter is, and I’ve said this before, what separates us out in part from a lot of other countries in the world is we’ve got this incredible free press that pokes and prods and calls into account our leaders.” he added.
Obama also said that the students “as journalists are going to have a role to play in reducing cynicism.”
“It is very hard to get good stories placed. People will assign you stories about what’s not working. It’s very hard for you to write a story about, ‘Wow, this thing really works good,’” he said, taking another dig at the press.
He then cited government workers who are “doing great work. And you rely on it in all kinds of ways.”
“But we just take that for granted. And if out of those 2 million employees, one person screws up somewhere — which every day you can count on somebody out of 2 million people probably doing something they shouldn’t be doing — that’s what’s going to get reported on,” Obama said.
“Now, that helps keep government on its toes and accountable, but one of the things we have to think about is how do we tell a story about the things we do together that actually work so that people don’t feel so cynical overall.” he added.
Obama recently slammed the press, essentially saying that reporters have given Donald Trump too much air time, and not been critical enough of his campaign. Obama said that it’s not good enough to simply “give someone a microphone.”
The president also recently stated that the biggest regret of his tenure is having to operate under intense partisanship in the media.
Members of the press hit back at Obama by advising him to refrain from hypocritical lecturing, accusing the president of being nontransparent and creating an environment in which reporters are discouraged to dig deeper for fear of government reprisals. Others accused Obama of avoiding real reporters and only taking softball interviews.

For many, it is one of a line in the sand against a bevy of agencies based in Washington, and partnering state agencies, who have violated the constitution.
The still-growing Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association (CSPOA), headed by former Sheriff Richard Mack, is standing up to these infringements, and saying no.
Of course, it has the attention of the indoctrinated Big Government folks, who are apt to see a group of law enforcement officials standing up for the rule of law as – what else, a potential threat.

[A] group called the Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association is intent on strictly enforcing their view of the U.S. Constitution … “its ambition is to encourage law enforcement officers to defy laws they decide themselves are illegal.” In essence, they are troubled by the overreach of the federal government in matters concerning guns, taxes and land management, and founder Richard Mack has described the federals as “the greatest threat we face today,” and his association as “the army to set our nation free.”
[…] At the association’s 2014 convention, dozens of sheriffs signed a declaration that they would not tolerate any federal agent who attempted to register firearms, arrest someone or seize property in their counties without their consent.
At a recent training for local police, the CPI reported, Mack declared that “gun control is against the law” and that his goal was to sign up about one-fourth of the nation’s sheriffs to join the association… find a true constitutional sheriff who’ll tell the federal government, ‘You’re not going to abuse citizens anymore.’”
Of course, it is his backbone and conviction that has the system worried – along with his ability to activate what is arguably the most powerful group in the nation at the ground level – the nation’s 3,000 or so sheriffs, who are elected and serve as the highest law enforcement official within the county unit.
Richard Mack, who successfully staved off federal encroachment at the Supreme Court level back in the 90s, described his CSPOA association as “the army to set our nation free.”
The media has been quick to demonize the fiery rhetoric for these constitutional-minded members of law enforcement. But the battle is grounded in sound ideology, and a principle that literally millions of Americans are prepared to fight for.
Last year, a police chief from a tiny East Texas town went on a rant warning President Obama that further attempts to impose gun control would “cause a revolution in this country.” It is entirely possible that this is no exaggeration or bravado:
“Now Mr. Obama, you need to understand what the 2nd Amendment is for. It is not for hunting. It is there for the American people to protect themselves against the criminal element, to protect themselves against terrorists and radical ideology, and it’s also there to protect us against a government that has overreached its power.”
“You are not our potentate, sir. You are our servant. And you were elected to serve and protect us first. And I suggest, sir, since you’re a constitutional expert, that you better review your history on the Constitution and understand that we are a free people. And we are subject to no one other than the almighty God and Jesus Christ the King. And as such, sir, I strongly encourage you to trust the law-abiding American citizen, because we won’t fail you and we won’t let you down. But if you try to disarm us, sir, then you will cause a revolution in this country to occur. So please revise your thinking, because we are not your enemy, the law-abiding gun owner in this country.”
Richard Mack’s case originated from his defiant stand when he was sheriff of Graham County in Arizona and an attempt was made to get local LEOs to perform background checks for the federal government under the Brady Bill. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia led the decision upholding the stand for the 2nd Amendment under the 10th Amendment – marking one of the most constitutionally-sound decisions in recent history.
Mack struck a blow for states’ rights in the 1990s as a sheriff from Graham County, Arizona, when he and a sheriff from Montana challenged the Brady Bill’s interim requirement that local law enforcement agencies perform background checks on gun buyers. The Supreme Court ruled in Mack’s favor, with Justice Antonin Scalia writing the opinion affirming the states’ sovereignty under the 10th Amendment …
[…]Mack said “the government was forcing me to participate in a gun control scheme that I knew was unconstitutional. When all law enforcement is forced into that position by state or federal legislators, which one do we side with? And I believe there is a proper way to conduct oneself in knowing the difference between enforcing stupid laws and enforcing the principles of the Constitution.”
“[W]hen all the courts are against you, all the legislators are against you, where else do you go? I believe to the local county sheriff…and if that means standing against the federal government, then so damn be it.”

Even ex-Clinton aides with no role in the campaign quake at the mention of her name. Abedin is said to be the third rail of the Clinton camp. The Hillary-Huma relationship also reveals how incapable and unwilling Hillary Clinton is to do simple things for herself. And Huma has gotten in this close by babying her to an extent you usually see only among royalty.
Abedin took her duties so seriously, the source recalled, that when she learned that Clinton had once carried her own bag up a flight of stairs in her aide’s absence, Abedin nearly burst into tears.
As a result, Huma Abedin controls complete access to Hillary. Even from Bill Clinton.
Insiders understand that if they want anything from Clinton, they need to hit Abedin’s direct number first. Says New York financier and Clinton supporter Alan Patricof, “I don’t even waste time trying to find Clinton directly. I only would go to Huma. It’s like talking to Clinton.”
Even aspiring first husband Bill has reportedly complained that he cannot get past Abedin.
That is one great relationship. And there’s no reason to think that if Hillary Clinton wins, access to her will still run through Huma Abedin, effectively making her the second most powerful government official.
