The House Armed Services Committee approved an annual defense policy bill early Thursday morning that includes a provision that would require women to register with the Selective Service System.

    It seems like some people are jumping to a conclusion that just because women are to be drafted, they will be involved in combat. Surely the US military can do as Israel does - women serve in the military for a shorter term than men and unless they really seek combat, they are placed in jobs away from battle. With the military being so high tech, there are plenty of jobs for them which are not in areas of danger. .
