Video: Hillary Calls Mother of Benghazi Victim a Liar

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton claimed the mother of a Benghazi victim was flat out “wrong” when Univision moderator Jorge Ramos asked the Democrat frontrunner if she lied to the families afflicted by the tragedy.

Speaking to the “issue of trust” during Wednesday’s Democrat debate, Ramos ignored the crowd’s boos and proceeded to air a CNN clip of Patricia Smith, the mother of one of the four Americans killed in the Benghazi, Libya, attacks in 2012.

“Hillary and Obama and Panetta and Biden and all of — and Susan Rice, all told me it was a video, when they knew it was not the video,” Smith says in the clip. “And they said that they would call me and let me know what the outcome was.”

Ramos asked, “Secretary Clinton, did you lie to them?”

Clinton replied that she sympathized with the families of victims, but that Smith was “wrong… absolutely wrong,” because “the fog of war” was causing intel on the attack to change “literally by the hour”:

“You know, look. I feel a great deal of sympathy for the families of the four brave Americans that we lost at Benghazi. And I certainly can’t even imagine the grief that she has for losing her son, but she’s wrong. She’s absolutely wrong.

I and everybody in the administration, all the people she named, the president, the vice president, Susan Rice, we were scrambling to get information that was changing, literally by the hour. And when we had information, we made it public. But then sometimes we had to go back and say we have new information that contradicts it.”

Seeking answers for her son Sean Smith’s death, the bereaved mother also appeared on CNN Newsroom last year saying the federal government had yet to provide her with information and at one point even denied she was immediate family.
