Obama Vows to Veto Bill De-Funding Planned Parenthood, Which Sells Aborted Baby Parts

The White House issued a proclamation for President Barack Obama today indicating that he will veto the bill the Senate is considering currently that would de-fund the Planned Parenthood abortion business. The abortion company has been caught selling aborted baby parts and aborted babies themselves for profit to scientists conducting dubious research.

The Senate is voting today and tomorrow on the bill and amendments to it. The vote will come less than a week after a deranged gunman killed three and injured 9 in a shooting outside a Planned Parenthood abortion clinic in Colorado Springs and Democrats are already planning to exploit the shooting to engender opposition to the bill.

But Obama is threatening to veto the de-funding measure and the threat comes after President Barack Obama warned pro-life people not to “demonize” Planned Parenthood in the wake of the shooting.

The bill would also repeal portions of Obamacare, which funds abortions and which the White House indicated is part of the reason Obama would veto the legislation.

The White House on Wednesday made official that President Obama will veto a bill to dismantle ObamaCare, hitting Republicans for “refighting old political battles.”

“Rather than refighting old political battles by once again voting to repeal basic protections that provide security for the middle class, Members of Congress should be working together to grow the economy, strengthen middle‑class families, and create new jobs,” the White House said.

“The Affordable Care Act is working and is fully integrated into an improved American health care system,” the White House said.

Obama has repeatedly threatened to veto any bill that stops taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood, issuing a veto threat in September and in July.

The bill has the support of key pro-life groups like the Family Research Council.

“This week, the Senate has the opportunity to largely defund Planned Parenthood and repeal key parts of ObamaCare using a budget procedure called “reconciliation” which requires only 51 votes instead of the usual 60. Debate will begin tomorrow, with amendments and a final vote expected on Thursday,” David Christensen, FRC’s Vice President for Government Affairs, said about the bill.

“The bill will cut a massive portion of your taxpayer dollars that fund Planned Parenthood. While the special rules on Reconciliation cannot be used to defund ALL federal funding for Planned Parenthood, it CAN be used to cut millions from their pocket book—roughly 80%,” he added.

He added: “Repealing major portions of ObamaCare would also be a huge pro-life victory. The ObamaCare provision would alleviate federal pressure on people and employers who are forced to purchase health insurance which they may find objectionable, and cut spending from the “prevention fund,” which is a government slush fund that is able to pay directly for abortion. Amendments offered during debate tomorrow and Thursday may go even further, including eliminating the premium subsidies, through which the federal government subsidizes elective abortion in healthcare.”

On Monday, alleged Colorado Planned Parenthood shooter Robert Lewis Dear appeared frazzled in his first court hearing following his arrest. Dear, 57-years-old and residing in Colorado and North Carolina, was arrested at the scene in connection with the violent shooting that claimed the lives of three people, including one police officer and injured 9 others, including multiple officers.

Dear reportedly mentioned “baby body parts” when arrested at the scene of the crime, but he has no connections with the pro-life movement and those who know him best say he was never interested in the issue of abortion.

As LifeNews has reported, the picture neighbors are painting of Robert Lewis Dear, who allegedly shot over a dozen people outside a Planned Parenthood abortion clinic on Friday, is one of a “rambling and incoherent” loner who never talked about abortion.

In August, Senate Democrats defeated an effort to revoke taxpayer funding for the Planned Parenthood abortion business by filibustering the bill and preventing a vote on it. Republicans were unable to secure the 60 voted needed to invoke cloture and stop debate on the bill, allowing an up or down vote. Republicans could only get 53 votes to shut off debate.

Then, in September, Senate Democrats voted to defeat a government funding bill that would de-fund the Planned Parenthood abortion business after it was caught in a series of 10 videos selling aborted babies and their body parts. The Senate voted 52 to 47 against ending debate.

Now, the Senate will vote on a reconciliation bill the House passed at the end of October that will use the reconciliation process to de-fund the abortion company caught selling the body parts of aborted babies. There had been question about whether the Planned Parenthood de-funding provisions could be included in the bill, but the Senate parliamentarian has indicated they can remain.

Sens. Susan Collins (R-Maine), Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) and Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), have balked at defunding Planned Parenthood. Their opposition to the bill is not surprising given their longstanding support for abortion and previous votes to back abortion funding.

But three other Republicans — who are strenuously pro-life — may vote against the bill as well because they don’t think it goes far enough in repealing Obamacare. Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and Mike Lee (R-Utah) have all indicated they are potential no votes because they want the reconciliation bill to repeal Obamacare in its entirety rather than repealing portions of it.

If pro-life advocates want the Senate to pass a bill to de-fund Planned Parenthood and put it on pro-abortion President Barack Obama’s desk — forcing him to decide whether he will stand with unborn children or stand with Planned Parenthood and its sales of aborted babies and their body parts — they need to call these six Republicans now and urge a vote for the reconciliation bill to de-fund Planned Parenthood:

The bill would block, for one year, most federal payments to Planned Parenthood. At least 89% of federal funding of Planned Parenthood would be blocked by this bill. The bill would repeal a number of major components of the Obamacare health law, including two of the major provisions that will lead to rationing of lifesaving care — the “Independent Payment Advisory Board” and the “excess benefits tax.”

Dozens of leading pro-life groups have already indicated their support for the bill, including the National Right to Life Committee. In a letter to members of Congress that NRLC provided to LifeNews.com, the group indicated it strongly supports the bill to de-fund Planned Parenthood.

“NRLC strongly supports the language in the bill that would block, for one year, most federal payments to affiliates of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA). It would close the largest pipeline for federal funding of Planned Parenthood, Medicaid, and apply as well to the CHIP and the Title V and Title XX block grant programs, thus covering roughly 89% of all federal funds to Planned Parenthood. The amounts denied to Planned Parenthood in effect are reallocated to community health centers,” the pro-life group explained.

“Over one-third of all abortions in the U.S. are performed at PPFA-affiliated facilities. Longstanding objections to the massive federal funding of PPFA have been reinforced by recent widely publicized undercover videos, which illuminate the callous brutality that occurs daily in these abortion mills,” NRLC added.

The reconciliation bill also repeals portions of Obamacare,including its rationing components. With regard to the rationing aspects of Obamacare, NRLC strongly supports a repeal.

“In addition, NRLC has always opposed the Obamacare law and advocated its repeal. With respect to H.R. 3762, we particularly endorse the components that would repeal the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB) and the “excess benefits tax” (“Cadillac Tax”), both dangerous mechanisms that would ultimately contribute to the rationing of lifesaving care,” the right to life group said.

Leading pro-life groups that also support the reconciliation bill to de-fund Planned Parenthood include Susan B. Anthony List, National Right to Life, Family Research Council, March for Life, Concerned Women for America, Students for Life, Priests for Life, Operation Rescue, and American Life League, among others.

While the reconciliation process would result in getting a bill to de-fund Planned Parenthood to pro-abortion President Barack Obama’s desk, Obama has already promised repeatedly to veto any bill that revokes taxpayer funding for the abortion company. The Senate does not have enough votes to overcome such a veto, leading some pro-life groups to point out that there is little hope of de-funding Planned Parenthood until the election of a pro-life president next year.

“The Administration strongly opposes Senate passage of the Senate amendment to H.J.Res. 61, making continuing appropriations for fiscal year (FY) 2016, and for other purposes, which contains highly objectionable provisions that advance a narrow ideological agenda,” the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) said before the vote. Eliminating federal funding to Planned Parenthood would “limit access” to healthcare for women, men, families and “disproportionately” affect low-income people, the OMB said.

A new Congressional report finds that de-funding the Planned Parenthood abortion business — even for one year — would save “several thousand” unborn babies from the nightmare of abortion. The report also finds de-funding Planned Parenthood would save the federal government $235 million.

The expose’ videos catching Planned Parenthood officials selling the body parts of aborted babies have shocked the nation. Here is a list of all eleven:

  • In the first video: Dr. Deborah Nucatola of Planned Parenthood commented on baby-crushing: “We’ve been very good at getting heart, lung, liver, because we know that, so I’m not gonna crush that part, I’m gonna basically crush below, I’m gonna crush above, and I’m gonna see if I can get it all intact.”
  • In the second video: Planned Parenthood’s Dr. Mary Gatter joked, “I want a Lamborghini” as she negotiated the best price for baby parts.
  • In the third video: Holly O’Donnell, a former Stem Express employee who worked inside a Planned Parenthood clinic, detailed first-hand the unspeakable atrocities and how she fainted in horror over handling baby legs.
  • In the fourth video: Planned Parenthood’s Dr. Savita Ginde stated, “We don’t want to do just a flat-fee (per baby) of like, $200. A per-item thing works a little better, just because we can see how much we can get out of it.” She also laughed while looking at a plate of fetal kidneys that were “good to go.”
  • In the fifth video: Melissa Farrell of Planned Parenthood-Gulf Coast in Houston boasted of Planned Parenthood’s skill in obtaining “intact fetal cadavers” and how her “research” department “contributes so much to the bottom line of our organization here, you know we’re one of the largest affiliates, our Research Department is the largest in the United States.”
  • In the sixth video: Holly O’Donnell described technicians taking fetal parts without patient consent: “There were times when they would just take what they wanted. And these mothers don’t know. And there’s no way they would know.”
  • In the seventh and perhaps most disturbing video: Holly O’Donnell described the harvesting, or “procurement,” of organs from a nearly intact late-term fetus aborted at Planned Parenthood Mar Monte’s Alameda clinic in San Jose, CA. “‘You want to see something kind of cool,’” O’Donnell says her supervisor asked her. “And she just taps the heart, and it starts beating. And I’m sitting here and I’m looking at this fetus, and its heart is beating, and I don’t know what to think.”
  • In the eighth video: StemExpress CEO Cate Dyer admits Planned Parenthood sells “a lot of” fully intact aborted babies.
  • The ninth video: catches a Planned Parenthood medical director discussing how the abortion company sells fully intact aborted babies — including one who “just fell out” of the womb.
  • The 10th video: catches the nation’s biggest abortion business selling specific body parts — including the heart, eyes and “gonads” of unborn babies.The video also shows the shocking ways in which Planned Parenthood officials admit that they are breaking federal law by selling aborted baby body parts for profit.
  • Unreleased Videos: Unreleased videos from CMP show Deb Vanderhei of Planned Parenthood caught on tape talking about how Planned Parenthood abortion business affiliates may “want to increase revenue [from selling baby parts] but we can’t stop them…” Another video has a woman talking about the “financial incentives” of selling aborted baby body parts.
  • The 11th video: catches a texas Planned Parenthood abortionist planning to sell the intact heads of aborted babies for research. Amna Dermish is caught on tape describing an illegal partial-birth abortion procedure to terminate living, late-term unborn babies which she hopes will yield intact fetal heads for brain harvesting.

The full, unedited videos have confirmed that revelations that some aborted baby remains sold by Planned Parenthood go to biotech companies for the purpose of creating “humanized” mice. Meanwhile, Planned Parenthood has been exposed as having sold body parts from aborted babies for as much as 15 years.

The federal law that technically prohibits the sale of aborted babies and their body parts was written by a pro-abortion Congressman decades ago and essentially spells out a process by which sellers of aborted baby body parts can meet certain criteria that allows the sales to be legal. That’s why a Colorado congressman has introduced legislation to totally ban the sales of aborted baby body parts.

Rugged Truth-Why Satanists Now Bolder-EYE OPENER!

Most Bible believers are somewhat familiar with this verse, even though not seeing the depth it reveals. Ephesians 6:12 states: “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of the world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Even the most biblically deprived individual would understand that to mean, Satan.

Yet, many deceived people choose to follow and worship Satan who is the master deceiver that controls them to perpetrate evil. They are calledSatanists and have grouped together all over the world, holding rituals and causing chaos.

Muslims call the United States ‘the great Satan. Even first semester psychology students know that one accuses others according to their own standard of conduct. In a recent story (link below) it was shown that Muslims have a direct relationship with Satan. This has just been CONFIRMED with a breaking story out of WorldNet Daily.com.

Less than a week after the attacks in Paris, Satanists publicly reached out to their brothers of Islam, offering to help protect them during the backlash that has resulted against them. For example, the Satanists said, “If there is anyone in the San Jose region who is Muslim and afraid to leave their home out of fear of backlash, don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We would be glad to escort you where you need to go without advertising our presence.”

They also stated that they would help in doing errands for them and delivering groceries. This press release came from Lucien Greaves of San Jose Chapter of the Satanic Temple.

Muslims and Satanists have been joined at the hip from the very beginning. Both thrive in lies, destruction, thievery and indiscriminate murder of anyone, simply for the joy of murder, which includes children in school, people in nursing homes or someone simply having dinner in a restaurant. These, in Muslim language, are designated “soft targets,” meaning unarmed victims, no risk of injury to the killers. This is plain evil and the father of evil is Satan.

Islam is based on a lie. The Qu’ran was written BEFORE Muhammad according to recent reports. He laid claim for Israel, stating that he was there when he was taken (from the location of the Temple Mount) by a flying horse to heaven to receive his ‘revelation. Examination much later shows that he was NEVER actually in Israel or on the Temple Mount. He explained later that he was taken in a vision to the Temple Mount.This a lot different.

And it is interesting to note that Muhammad claimed to have been visited by the Angel, Gabriel who told him to preach. We find this interesting since Gabriel is the Arch Angel of Israel.(?)

The god he worships, Allah, an Arabic term for god, was taken from Alilah, the moon god and shortened to the Arabic term, Allah. The god Muhammad created would have been a god of Satan since this invented deity instructs his followers to slay innocent people and if they themselves are slain carrying out this gruesome task, the ‘martyr’ will have 72 virgins waiting to give him sexual satisfaction for all eternity. Their god represents evil and sexual perversion.

The Satanists who are tightening their bond with Muslims, tried recently to install a bronze Baphomet (Satan) statue next to the Ten Commandments monument in Oklahoma. Yes the worshippers of Satan have become bolder since Islamists have caused so much evil and fear that it has encouraged them to come out front and center.

In John 8:, Jesus might have been speaking about the Muslims who claim Abraham as their own since he fathered Ishmael who started the Arabic nations which became Islamic.

In verse 23, he stated to the Pharisees, “Ye are from beneath; I am from above.” It gets more to the point starting at verse 42: “If God were your father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but He sent me.”

Then He hammers it home in vs. 44: “Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own; for he is a liar, and the father of it.”

As is known, Muhammad had sex with children and married Aisha (also spelled, Ayesha) when she was 10 years old. However that is accepted in the Muslim culture. So it would not have been a big deal at that time, or even today.

We are told that the majority of Muslims are good people and a people of peace, even though they follow the Qu’ran. Here is an example of the Qu’ran:

Quran (8:12) - “I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them.” (No reasonable person would interpret this to mean a spiritual struggle)

And let’s not forget this peaceful passages… Quran (8:15) - “O ye who believe! When ye meet those who disbelieve in battle, turn not your backs to them. (16) Whoso on that day turneth his back to them, unless maneuvering for battle or intent to join a company, he truly hath incurred wrath from Allah, and his habitation will be hell, a hapless journey’s end.

Quran (8:67) - “It is not for a Prophet that he should have prisoners of war until he had made a great slaughter in the land…”

Quran (9:14) - “Fight against them so that Allah will punish them by your hands and disgrace them and give you victory over them and heal the breasts of a believing people.” Humiliating and hurting non-believers not only has the blessing of Allah, but it is ordered as a means of carrying out his punishment and even “healing” the hearts of Muslims.

There are many, many more. Several references are made to slay those who refuse to convert to Islam wherever they are, to lay in wait for them. Their “Holy Book” also says it is also permissible to LIE to further Islam. Yes, a god of lies as the Scriptures tell us.

Every Muslim reads and lives by the Qu’ran which instructs evil. Any Muslim who does not denounce Islam, reads the Qu’ran and continues to go the mosque, where hatred against humanity is taught, cannot be trusted.

JOURNALIST-TAKE NOTE: There are many ‘clubs’ of terrorism among Muslims. Whenever such an attack happens, do not state that ISIS, ISIL, IS or even Islamic Fanatics are responsible. It is MUSLIMS who are responsible, not any one organization. It is a PEOPLE not an organization that is responsible along with a violent religion called, Islam. Every single person taking part in these attacks against civilized people are MUSLIMS and that is how the attackers are to be identified-period..

Military leaders throughout the ages have stated that the first thing that must be done when under attack, is to identify the enemy. It is past time to do that. Let’s be honest about this identity. And the event should be honestly described, not ‘workplace violence’ as Obama described the massacre of our service personnel in Ft. Hood by the MUSLIM officer.

War has been declared against the civilized world by a growing group of stone-age savages who, it has been shown, is under the direction of Satan himself, the one they have chosen to follow. Our prayers for Muslims can be prayers of deliverance and outright exorcism. Forget the PC. Cut to the chase and let this terror be stopped.

The man should be impeached. He is not only standing on the dead bodies in Paris to preach gun control here in the United States, he’s now using every instance of crime to push it. When he said we are the only nation in the world where mass gun shootings take place, he was in Paris where gunmen had slaughtered 132 and wounded over 350… with guns. The dishonesty and political pandering here is breathtaking. Trust me, he will ratchet this up and find a way around Congress if he can. Let’s just see him try and take our guns.

In response to a question about the Planned Parenthood shooting in Colorado, President Obama went back to a familiar talking point, claiming mass shootings are unique to America.

“I say this every time we have one of these mass shootings. This just doesn’t happen in other countries,” he said during a press conference in Paris today.

The only problem with his answer was that he was standing in Paris, where a mass shooting conducted by Islamic State terrorists had just taken place, killing over 100 people.

Obama followed up his statement acknowledging that America was “rightly determined to prevent terrorist attacks wherever they occur” but seemed

to separate the two events in his mind.

He argued that since the United States was determined to fight terrorism, it was important for Americans to demand more gun control as well.

“We devote enormous resources, and properly so, to rooting out networks and debilitating organizations like ISIL and maintaining the intelligence

and improving the information sharing that can identify those who would try to kill innocent people,” he said. “And yet, in the United States, we have the power to do more to prevent what is just a regular process of gun homicides.”

He urged Congress and State and local governments to make changes on gun laws to prevent people who were “deranged” or had “violent tendencies” from killing in the United States.

Obama is using mental instability as an excuse for gun banning and confiscation. I warned about this years ago when the NRA agreed to limits on guns for people with mental health issues. It is being used against all of us now. Obama will also use the UN to try and get our guns. It will be wrapped up in this climate change nonsense and things like TPP. He’s a crafty Marxist and he thinks he’s smarter than Americans are. Taking guns away will not prevent terrorism, it will do the opposite. It will encourage terrorists to take over and kill at will. Obama is not stupid. He knows this… it is what he wants. It serves his political agenda of control and conquest. We should be just as determined to fight Barack Obama as we are the terrorists, if not more. Really, they are the same monster.

9/11 Muslim Cheering False? + Dilbert Creator’s Shocking Statements!

DANVILLE, CA 11/29/15-First let’s get this straight once and for all. There absolutely WERE Muslims dancing on a rooftop in New Jersey when the New York World Trades Center collapsed. The smoking twin towers could be seen in the background as they danced.

The numbers of them were exaggerated by The Donald. There were not thousands of them. It was more like between one and two dozen on that rooftop. But they were there celebrating nonetheless. This writer saw the video which played on all TV stations. I lived and worked in New York for over a quarter of a century and followed the Muslim attacks on our city closely.

There were also videos showing Muslims dancing on the streets in the Middle East. One that I will never forget showed an older Muslim woman with a smirk on her face amongst the dancers gyrating their bodies, rejoicing in the deaths of over 3000 people caused by their relatives. That is where the ‘thousands of people” were dancing and cheering that Trump spoke of.

Another clip this writer saw was an Islamic leader in New York City proclaiming happily; “This just proves that OUR god is more powerful than YOUR God.” Of special interest here is that Muslims try to deceive the world into believing that their god and America’s God is the same god, which is a lie. I am up in that history and categorically know that this is a false claim.

However, inadvertently this proud Islamic leader made it clear that yes, the god of Islam and the God of America are NOT the same. Interesting, all of those videos have since been scrubbed from sight.

In order to sabotage Donald Trump’s run for president, the issue of the NUMBER of cheering Muslims in New Jersey on that day is what Obama is focusing on to distract from the real issue. Obama is an expert on this, being carefully coached by his Communist handlers, plus his Muslim advisors whom he has placed in most of the security offices in D.C, which, by the way, is nuts!

Obama and the Democrats will do anything to stop Trump since they know without doubt that this angry man will get into office, and throw out anything and anyone who is a threat to The United States of America.

Scott Adams, the creator and artist of the Dilbert comic strip, the wittiest comic strip ever, has suddenly presented himself as an angry liberal pro-choice militant at war with all who do not share his point of view. Indeed,according to his own words, he wants us all to die a long painful death.

I knew Scott Adams and liked him from the time we first met at an animal rescue benefit where I was master of ceremonies. The fact he loved animals was a huge factor for me. We met often after that over lunch at one of his restaurants, thoroughly enjoying ourselves and exchanging emails.. The fact that he was an atheist and I am a Christian minister/chaplain had no bearing.

A few years ago he was struck with a rare muscle disease that robbed him from being able to speak, and his coordination drastically affected. He emailed me that we would never be able to meet again. His marriage fell apart during that time. He had to virtually learn to draw all over again, and had to use a machine device to help him in drawing his characters.

I had just emailed him two days ago expressing my wish to see him again and to do an interview with updates. This was to be a positive story showing how he battled through to continue producing his strip.

Then today, the news broke (hit may have been more accurate). It stunned me. A story was published first on Nation, then republished today on Life News. Scott was quoted as saying that he wants all pro-life people to die horrible deaths. He addressed one man personally, a writer, whose wife is a columnist with the San Francisco Chronicle saying to him that he, “hates my (f-word) guts and that he wishes me to die a long and horrible death.”

In his rampage, Scott listed several prominent names, including Pope Francis to his wish-list for each to die long and horrible deaths. Scott also lists all those who are opposed to doctor assisted suicide. He took it further by stating that if you oppose this, “I hate your (f-word) guts and I would like you to die a long, horrible death. I would be happy to kill you personally and watch you bleed out.” He goes on to say: “I won’t do that because I fear the consequences.”

“But I’d enjoy it, because you mother-f-word-are responsible for torturing my father…” Scott’s father was supposedly denied the right to die even though there is no record that he ever asked for doctor assisted suicide. Scott went on to repeat several times his wish to kill all of us and make us suffer.

This is not the Scott Adams I knew. He never seemed angry nor did he use any vulgarity when talking to me—however, being a minister might be a hindrance to those in the habit of using vulgar words.

This was so shocking to me to read that I cannot help but think that this is due to his crippling nerve and muscle problems that all but disabled him. I did email him this morning:

Failing Government

Senator James Lankford of Oklahoma was on C-Span recently to talk about a new report his staff put together on the wasteful spending of our government agencies. The report is titled, Fumbles: 100 Ways the Government Dropped the Ball. It’s a good report – lots of waste, fraud and abuse in it. The problem is (yawn) members of Congress have been writing reports like this for at least thirty-five years beginning in this writer’s memory in 1975 when Senator William Proxmire started producing his Golden Fleece Award.

It was clear this summer when Senator Mike Crapo hit the small towns in Southcentral Idaho that the Republican message for this election season was going to be the federal deficit (yawn). It was also clear that the only subject the participants in the town hall meetings wanted to talk about was refugee resettlement.

The obvious problem with Senator Lankford’s report is that he’s a Senator. Government spending is within the Constitutional jurisdiction of the House of Representatives so his report, nice as it is, is simply campaign material produced with government money so he should add the cost of it to his report and make it 101 Ways the Government is Dropping the Ball.

The real problem is that our government is like a tree with a diseased core. Republicans wants to lop off a few branches but leave the diseased core alone. Why? Because it’s easier and because they – all the members of Congress are products of the diseased core so they won’t even talk about the real problems which are structural. By way of example, Senator Lankford talked about a piece of legislation he is sponsoring The Taxpayers Right-to-Know Act.

This legislation requires the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to include an inventory of government programs on its website:

  • any activity that is commonly referred to as a program;
  • any activity specifically created by law, or referenced in law, as a program;
  • each program that has an application process;
  • each program for which financial awards are made on a competitive basis; and
  • any activity identified as a program activity in a budget request; and
  • for each program identified in the program inventory, the information required under paragraph

That’s nice, but why are they doing this through legislation when Congress has subpoena power? It’s because the Congress can’t get this information from the agencies of government directly so they are setting it up so that non-profits and citizens can get the information for them. The agencies of government are non-responsive to Congressional requests for information. That’s a problem that won’t be fixed by the Taxpayers Right-to-Know Act. Nor will it be fixed if they lop off a few branches of the diseased tree that has some low-hanging, diseased fruit.

If Congress can’t or won’t define the problem correctly, they will never be able to fix it and our government will continue to fail the citizens they are supposed to serve.

Assembly of State Legislatures Changes Article V Text in Call for "Convention of States"

From November 11-13, an estimated 100 state legislators from 30 states met in Salt Lake City to draft a blueprint for a constitutional convention to be called (they claim) according to the process set forth in Article V of the Constitution.

The gathering hopes to establish rules to keep such a convention from departing from its designated purpose.

“We’re not focused on a specific amendment, so we’re not advocating for a balanced budget or any other amendment that is being proposed out there in the world of the Internet, and there are many of them,” said Utah state senator Wayne Niederhauser in a statement published in the Salt Lake Tribune. “What we’re focused on is establishing the rules and procedures under which a convention to propose amendments to the Constitution could be held.”

The Assembly of State Legislatures is the group sponsoring this conference, and it has held three similar meetings since 2013. The first of these “rules and procedures” conferences was held at George Washington’s beloved Mt. Vernon estate. When the legislators met at Mt. Vernon, they went by the name of the Mt. Vernon Assembly.

At a confab held the following year in Indiana, the group officially changed its name to the Assembly of State Legislatures.

The organization’s purpose is set out on its official website:

The Assembly exists for the primary purpose of defining the rules and procedures under which a Convention of the States to propose amendments would operate. Article V of the Constitution provides the states the authority to call a convention for the specific purpose of drafting a proposed amendment, but the rules of such a meeting are not outlined in the Constitution.

Constitutionalists will instantly recognize the slick bit of syncope perpetrated in that paragraph.

“Syncope” is defined as “the contraction of a word by omitting one or more sounds from the middle.” While the term is usually applied to spelling and grammar, it has some analogy to this claque’s repeated attempts to call a constitutional convention, as well.

Here is the actual text of the relevant clause of Article V of the Constitution:

The Congress, whenever two thirds of both houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose amendments to this Constitution, or, on the application of the legislatures of two thirds of the several states, shall call a convention for proposing amendments, which, in either case, shall be valid to all intents and purposes, as part of this Constitution, when ratified by the legislatures of three fourths of the several states, or by conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other mode of ratification may be proposed by the Congress…

See the difference?

The Assembly of State Legislatures does something that those of us who cherish our founding charter loathe: when this or that party leaves out key words of the Constitution to suit their interests.

Article V does not “provide the states the authority to call a convention for the specific purpose of drafting a proposed amendment.”

No, Article V provides for a process that is much more powerful and thus much more potentially dangerous than the revision printed on the Assembly of State Legislatures’ website.

Typically this brand of constitutional contraction involves highlighting portions of the provision in order to convince those in the audience that the process is safe and that rogue amendments (such as those being promoted by George Soros and others) will never make it into the Constitution.

Take note also of the deception attempted by this group in its assurance that Article V gives power to the states to call a convention. There are a few significant misrepresentations in that short statement.

First, the Constitution does not give the states anything. The states created the federal government and retain the authority to resist the exercise by Congress of any powers not specifically granted to it by the states in the Constitution.

The documents sent by the states to Congress announcing their ratification of the Constitution provide additional evidence of the founding generation’s appreciation of the states’ and federal government’s respective roles as creator and creation. In nearly every one of these letters, the state legislature or ratifying convention delegation explicitly reminds Congress that the consent of the states formed the federal government.

The ratifying conventions called throughout the 13 states understood that the delegates sent to Philadelphia in the summer of 1787 created a general government of limited power, retaining for themselves nearly the full panoply of powers they had exercised successfully for over a century.

In other words, the states are the creator, the federal government is the creation, and the latter cannot control the former, regardless of the revisionist history promoted by the Assembly of State Legislatures.

The second problem is the assertion in their mission statement that Article V provides for the drafting of “a proposed amendment.”

Again, the plain language of Article V is subtly, yet significantly different from the version published by the Assembly of State Legislatures.

Anyone can read the actual text of Article V, and nowhere does that provision contemplate confining a convention to the consideration of one amendment.

In fact, in light of the roster of leftist groups present in the con-con camp, there is no limit to the lengths these delegates would go to change our charter.

The mind boggles at the potential proposals that could come out of a convention occupied by such radical enemies of the rule of law and the liberty of a Republic.

Furthermore, the results of these conventions could be an outright scrapping of the Constitution written by the Founders in favor of one more in line with the progressive ideologies of many of these Article V convention advocates.

Another irrefutable fact of political reality is that George Soros and other globalists are spending billions to fund these fringe groups, and contemporary politicians — no matter how “conservative” — aren’t exactly known for their ability to resist hefty campaign contributions.

All those who are at this moment involved in the battle to protect our Constitution, when confronting those of any political stripe should make particular mention of the fact that there is no limiting clause in Article V, no matter what their propaganda says.

The website of the Assembly of State Legislatures doesn’t disclose when the next meeting featuring slick and comforting presentations by the corps of “convention of states” spokesmen will be held.

But whenever and where ever these lawmakers gather to write the agenda for an Article V convention, remember to stand up and point out their constitutional contractions — their syncope — and the fact that adding and deleting words from the Constitution is a tactic used by enemies of our Republic, by those pretending to sail under the colors of the Constitution.

This is particularly true of state legislators, who each swore an oath as mandated by Article VI of the Constitution “to support this Constitution.”

It’s unlikely that deleting key words from the Constitution and misleading constituents is the sort of “support” the Founders had in mind.
