10 Tips On Not Being A Victim Of Crime.

Friends I have spent around 20 years doing personal security for people. I’ve worked in The Movie and TV industry and as such I often provided protection for some executives, but mostly celebrities. With that being said I’ve got a series short articles I’ll be running that might help keep you and your family a little safer.

TEN TIPS FOR AVOIDING CRIME

1. Be Alert!
Keep your head up. Eyes scanning.
Be aware of your surroundings. If something does not feel right, trust your instinct. It is usually right. Put your damn phone down and text when it’s safe.

( Condition Yellow, at all times )

2. Vary Your Routines
Predictability makes you a more likely target.

3. Lock It!
Home, car, office - locks are your first line of defense.

4. Make Your Home A Tough Target
Use floodlights, motion sensors, a security system, deadbolts, etc.

This is so Important. Always leave an outside light on. 90% of bad guys report they would skip house with light on for one with no light.

Here is a cheap cheat if you will. No security system? OK, go to ebay or Google and put in “ADT” signs. You can get them for about $ 10 and they work just as well. Again bad guy sees your house with sign, and light and your neighbor with no sign and no light what house you think he’s going to?

5. Foil Car-jackers
Keep windows/doors locked, check mirrors and blind spot when stopped.
Stay one to one and a half lengths away from the car ahead of you.
Sound your horn and flash your lights if you think you’re being approached by a car-jacker.

6. Avoid Car Theft
Lock it!
Use an anti-theft device.
Turn the wheels when you park.
Never leave a spare key inside the car.
Park in a well-lighted place.
Put packages in the trunk.

7. Be Creative
Think of unusual ways to protect yourself and your valuables.

8. Be Informed
Learn the crime trends in your area and work to protect yourself against them.

9. Get Involved
Have your joined or organized a Neighborhood Watch?10. Don’t Give Up!

Crime can be reduced - with action, not apathy!

More To Come. Stay safe.
