My comments: It’s running 5 to 1 in agreement with my article on another website. I am truly appalled at what Kim Davis, Huckabee, and Staver have done, and they all call themselves Christians. The 5 to 1 means the believers in Christ DO HAVE GREAT DISCERNMENT! Who will Kim Davis ever win to Christ? Certainly NOT any homosexuals, she has made them hate us. And in staying in her job, rather than resigning, she doesn’t remember the verses, BE YE SEPARATE, WHAT DOES THE LIGHT HAVE TO DO WITH DARKNESS, COME OUT OF HER, We are to be the salt and light…and when we point fingers at someone and scream SINNER, there are 3 fingers pointing back at us. Of course she probably doesn’t want to give up the 80K she’s allegedly making either.
“Out of 100 men, one will read the Bible, the other 99 will read the Christian.” ― D.L. Moody
“Tens of thousands, perhaps millions, have come into some kind of religious experience by accepting Christ, and they have not been saved.” ~ A.W. Tozer
I’ve debated whether or not to write this article, and it’s probably not a good idea to put my thoughts about Kim Davis into words. Some of you will disagree with me, although several of my friends have said the same things I’ve been thinking. Something just doesn’t smell right to me with this whole scenario.
I’ve read countless articles stating that Kim Davis has finally stood up against the homosexual agenda, and that she was jailed for her beliefs. She was actually jailed for contempt of court. They also claimed she was jailed by a pro-homosexual judge, David Bunning (enthusiastically supported by Republican Mitch McConnell) who had previously ruled that children, in Boyd County, Kentucky school district, could not opt out of diversity education, even with a religious exemption. That decision was overturned because it “effectively forces the students to speak in agreement with the school district’s view that homosexuality is a safe and healthy lifestyle that cannot be changed.”
Kim Davis became a Christian four years ago. She is an elected democrat. She has been married four times and gave birth to her twins five months after she divorced the father of the twins. She’s been married to one husband twice, and he has adopted the twins.
The leader of Liberty Counsel, Mat Staver, who provided Davis’ legal representation, said, “Her past does not matter because her slate was wiped clean four years ago when she converted to Christianity.” Her sins are forgiven if she’s truly a Christian, but that doesn’t wipe your slate clean. There are consequences for sin, even when it happened before you became a believer.
Mat Staver, Council for National Policy (CNP) member, has been waiting for just this moment. (Please remember that the Council for National Policy is nothing more than the right arm of the Council on Foreign Relations). He is the former dean of Jerry Falwell’s Liberty University’s School of Law, where he has repeatedly urged officials to break the law when it comes to gay marriage. (Jerry Falwell was a charter member of the CNP). Kim Davis is the test case Staver’s been waiting for. Staver has focused public attention on his legal argument that Davis should be able to order her entire County Clerk’s office to follow her personal religious views, even in defiance of court orders. Staver also claims that LGBT rights lead to persecution of Christians. He equates this situation to the Holocaust and handing a Jewish person over to the Nazis. Davis has also been compared to Rosa Parks.
I certainly would beg to differ on both accounts. Kim Davis has a choice, unlike the Jews who were killed by the Nazis. Rosa Parks, who was so exhausted from work that she simply sat down where she could, and then refused to get back up and go to the back of the bus, was tired of being a second class citizen. Kim Davis could have resigned and left with her Christianity intact and without spending one minute in jail.
Several people said they thought she had the bravery of a new Christian…but after four years, she is not a “new” babe in Christ. My reaction was three-fold.
First, I was surprised that she didn’t just resign her post as the three women in Decatur County, Tennessee did. Link None of those women really drew the attention that Kim Davis drew nationwide, but they followed their Christian beliefs.
Second, I wondered what was happening in the country while our attention was being diverted to the Kim Davis debacle. President Obama was making up new laws and forcing us to pay for men wanting to become women and women wanting to become men, via Obamacare.
Obama also directed his administration to allow 10,000 Syrian refugees into America in the next fiscal year, all Muslim, and many who could be terrorists. Obama plans to resettle these refugees in Red States in order to dilute the Republic majority and drain the budgets of local governments. Link
To top it off, the DOD gave last minute notice to the FAA before going dark in five east coast states and off the shoreline from September 1st, to October 1st. Doesn’t that sound odd to you during the 14th anniversary of September 11, 2001?
Third, I wondered if the presidential candidates who came to her defense had any part in her decision (as a Democrat) to disobey the law? They basically all seemed to support her stance of religious freedom, other than a couple who felt she needed to obey the law or resign. Link Mike Huckabee, a losing presidential candidate, wasted precious few moments before slotting a penitentiary visit into his schedule. The former Arkansas governor visited Davis to express displeasure at what he terms “the criminalization of Christianity in our country.” Huckabee applied more legal analysis, too: “What a world, where Hillary Clinton isn’t in jail but Kim Davis is.”
I could go into why I distrust pro-Constitutional Convention Huckabee, but that would be another entire article. My guess is that this entire situation will result in a book deal for Kim Davis.
I know that Kim Davis asked for her name to be removed from the licenses and this was denied because it would have to be changed by the state legislature who is not in session until next January. As well, Kentucky state law states marriage is between a man and a woman, but apparently that no longer counts with the Supreme Court decision. Just as in Roe vs. Wade, state law was apparently overturned once Obergefell v. Hodges decision came down.
As an elected official, Davis cannot be fired, but she can be impeached. Davis’ impeachment would have to wait until the Legislature’s regular session set for next year or a costly special session. On her part, Davis says she will not resign.
A friend of mine suggested that Kim Davis should run for congress in 2016. He said, “Seriously! Look at the publicity she could capitalize on. She should resign her county position at this time and simultaneously announce her candidacy for U.S. Congress in her home district in 2016. The timing is perfect. She could probably beat the incumbent no matter who he or she is!”
Conclusion
Many of my constant readers will probably be angry at me for taking this stance. However, there is something that tells me this was a planned situation, especially since Staver and Huckabee are involved…it’s that little voice that says…”Uh-oh, something isn’t right here.”
Yes, there is a war against our Judeo-Christian society, and no one seems to really be paying attention. Why? Because the pulpits of America are silent. What did Rev. Finney say in the 1800s?
“If there is a decay of conscience, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the public press lacks moral discernment, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the church is degenerate and worldly, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the world loses its interest in Christianity, the pulpit is responsible for it. If satan rules in our halls of legislation, the pulpit is responsible for it. If our politics become so corrupt that the very foundations of our government are ready to fall away, the pulpit is responsible for it.” —Rev. Charles Finney, 1792-1875
From Matt Walsh’s blog:
The Bible is clear. We are to put on the full armor of God and having done all to Stand. That means to stand for righteousness. Jesus condemned. He denounced. He caused trouble. He disrupted the established order. On one occasion — or at least one recorded occasion — He used violence. This Jesus saw the money changers in the temple and how did He respond? He wasn’t polite about it. I’d even say He was downright intolerant. He fashioned a whip (this is what the lawyers would call ‘premeditation’) and physically drove the merchants away. He turned over tables and shouted. He caused a scene. [John 2:15] Link
But Jesus never joined with the government. He said, ” Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar’s, and unto God the things which be God’s..” Luke 20:23-25
Do I believe there is a war against Christianity? Yes, I do. I believe that war will succeed because the pulpits are not doing their jobs today. We have 2,000 to 4,000 babies being murdered in their mother’s wombs every day, and then their little bodies and parts sold for profit, and the pulpits are silent. There is no real outcry from the pulpits…no marching in the streets.
Kim Davis, a Democrat, claims she is a Christian, but is working for the government who promotes these atrocities, and despite the first amendment of the Bill of Rights which protects her Christian freedoms, this government has trampled those freedoms. The judiciary (Supreme Court) does not make law, but has affirmed law in this case. Unless the states wish to nullify this law through their legislatures, it will remain the law of the land. We all know the states love federal money and will not change the law unless there is a massive outcry from the citizenry, which I don’t expect to happen. Thus, those Christians who wish to continue working for the government either have to abide by the law, or resign their positions.
Do I support Kim Davis’s stance? Actually, no, I don’t, and I’m not going to bewail how Christians are being put upon. Had I been Kim Davis, I’d have resigned rather than making myself a public spectacle. And yes, I’ll probably get a some negative mail from this article.
Reblogged this on Roberts Thoughts 2 and commented:
What a well written thought provoking post! A must read article especially for Christians, take the time and rounder it awhile Christian. I totally agree with everything written, though I did post thing in favor of her. I too didn’t feel right about it, something was off. Was probably the Holy Spirit nudging me. Once again take the time for this one.

In addition to the various conflicts between personal beliefs and responsibilities taken under oaths which you outlined so well, this was also a scope of practice problem. We already have systems and hierarchies in place to make and evaluate the validity of laws, and clerks have no role in that. They aren’t lawyers, judges or legislators. Their function is to go down the checklist the state provides for who can and can’t get forms. If a functionary with a high school education and no credential in law gets to weigh in equally on which laws to accept or follow, we’re all headed down a rabbit hole.
We all have personal beliefs, and it’s extremely common to have to decide what to do when a boss, a business, in this case governmental superiors asks you to do something you object to. The only ethical options are the two she refused - submit, or quit.

CZ, great post. It’s not at first what it seems. I too as we discussed had that feeling something was not “Right” Thanks for flushing out the players. Makes more sense now.

Thanks, I really debated on even writing this, but got hundreds of emails and I’d say 98% were feeling the same thing I felt.

Your feelings are correct. I read somewhere she may be back in court because she has been tampering with the Certs her deputy’s have issued. Not just removing her name, but County or something.

Apparently Steve, she and her goofy lawyer, Mat Staver, wanted the ability for her to tell all her clerks they cannot issue marriage licenses to homosexual couples either. The thing that grinds me is the fact that divorce is very much frowned on in the Bible as well, but she issues marriage licenses to divorcees, some several times, and that doesn’t bother her in the least. I know people see it as a different matter, but God doesn’t like it, and she’s not making a fuss about that!
