Well, As Long as We’re Demolishing “Racist” Statues…

By Jim O’Neill
As long as the Left is determined to tear down historic symbols of racism, I say we help them out and point them toward some statues and portraits of real racist scumbags.  The country has any number of former Democrat racist “worthies” that will fit the bill quite nicely.
A hat tip here to the actor James Woods for suggesting that we tear down a statue of the late Democratic Senator Robert Byrd.  Seems to me that Byrd, who was once an “Exalted Cyclops” in the Ku Klux Klan (a position that the reviled Robert E. Lee never dreamed of holding) is a prime candidate for black racists to scrub from history.  Byrd, the so-called “Conscience of the Senate” once filibustered for 14 hours against civil rights for blacks.  Why aren’t blacks demanding that statues honoring him be removed?
What about the late Democratic governor and presidential candidate George Wallace?  “Segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever!”  I don’t know about any statues, but there’s a big ol’ painting of him in the Alabama State Capitol Building in Montgomery.  As an extra bonus/incentive to anyone who might be inclined to visit there’s a “stars ‘n’ bars” flag painted in the background.
There’s Democratic icon President Woodrow Wilson.  This racist believed that black slaves were by and large a happy bunch (perhaps even a bit spoiled).  He spelled it out for those of us ignorant of this “fact:” “…Domestic slaves…and almost all who were much under the master’s eye, were happy and well cared for.”  Sho nuff Massa Wilson.  Those who beg to differ with President.Wilson will find a plethora of statues, paintings and whatnot to direct their attention toward.
The perception that black slaves had it good (lucky devils) seems to have been widely shared among Democrats.  For example, the following quote is from Democratic Senator John C. Calhoun.  He is comparing the “benign and fortuitous circumstances” of black slaves in America, with less fortunate and destitute poor free whites in Europe.
I believe when two races come together which have different origins, colors, and physical and intellectual characteristics, that slavery is, instead of an evil, a good, a positive good.
…I may say with truth, that in few countries so much is left to the share of the laborer, and so little exacted from him, or where there is more kind attention paid to him in sickness or infirmities of age. Compare his condition with the tenants of the poor houses in the more civilized portions of Europe–look at the sick, and the old and infirm slave, on one hand, in the midst of his family and friends, under the kind superintending care of his master and mistress, and compare it with the forlorn and wretched condition of the pauper in the poorhouse.  [Italics added]
John C. Calhoun, Democratic Senator from South Carolina, seventh Vice President of the United States.  From comments made on the US Senate floor February 6, 1837

Those Democrats…always looking out for the welfare of others — plus ça change, plus cest la meme chose, nest ce pas?  There are several statues of John C. Calhoun available for perusal should you happen to disagree with the late Democratic Senator’s take on things.

Well that’s enough from me.  I just wanted to help out a bit and get folks headed in the right direction.  If you want to find statues and paintings honoring racists, then I recommend researching Democratic politicians, especially prior to the mid-1960s.  It’s a cornucopia of racism.  I promise you will not be disapponted.

Disabled Vet Imprisoned After Using Gun to Prevent a Crime

It won’t take you long to figure out what the problem is here.

In the state of New Jersey a retired and disabled veteran was thrown in the slammer after he used his gun to prevent himself from being attacked.

Because he chose to protect himself he ended up being booked, despite the fact he was legally allowed to own the gun in the state he bought it.

Guns’N’Freedom gives us the details:

Master Gunnery Sergeant (Ret) Richard Zahn is the latest victim of New Jersey’s out-of-control gun laws. Richard, a disabled veteran, spent 26 years of his life serving and protecting the United States of America in Kuwait, Kosovo, Iraq, and Afghanistan. He has more awards and commendations than I have space to list here. In the words of the Commandant of the Marine Corps, in a personal letter to Zahn, “Many desire to attain your accomplished goals, but few can compare to you. You have clearly demonstrated the exceptional leadership qualities and professional contributions we seek of our senior Marines.”

For the last 10 years, Zahn had worked as a government contractor on board Camp Lejeune training Marines and Sailors in a variety of different tactical subjects from Communication, Command & Control, Counter Improvised Explosive Devices & Counter Remote Electronic Warfare Systems, convoy operations, force protection, crew serve weapons and Marine Combat Marksmanship Program among other skill sets.

Instead of enjoying his retirement and reporting for work instructing Marines, Zahn is now sitting in jail in New Jersey.

Early last year, after receiving a phone call concerning his seriously ill mother, Zahn drove from North Carolina to New Jersey where his mother was being treated for cancer (she has since passed away). Zahn had legally owned firearms in his vehicle and was not aware that his permit would not be valid in New Jersey. Upon arriving at the facility where his mother was being treated, Zahn was confronted by a man in a car Zahn had passed on his way there. The man, Jorge Polo, a convicted felon, was apparently irate that Zahn had “cut him off” at a drive way while passing him.

The felon, who was wearing yellow and black clothing associated with the Latin Kings street gang, approached Zahn while yelling, cursing, making gang-related gestures, and issuing verbal threats. Zahn felt threatened by the younger and larger man and so he told the assailant he had a gun. The verbal assault continued so Zahn then brought his holstered gun out into the open, hoping the sight of it would discourage the assailant. When all else failed, Zahn took his rifle from the vehicle, but as with the handgun, did not point it at anyone or make any threat to use it. Finally, the convicted drug dealer went away. By the way, according to Zahn’s attorney, this record of events was confirmed by both the assailant and his wife who had been in the car with him. Zahn then went to see his mother.

After caring for his mother, Zahn was met in the facility parking lot by local police who arrested him for possession of the guns. Despite his full cooperation with police, despite his completely unblemished record, despite the fact he never actually fired the weapon or even aimed it in the direction of anyone, despite the fact he legally owned the guns in North Carolina, Zahn was sentenced to 364 days in jail in New Jersey.

As a result of this arrest and his incarceration, Richard Zahn will lose his security clearance. He will lose his ability to work as a contractor and train Marines. After sixty days in jail he will lose his pension and medical coverage. His attorney is scheduled to attend a hearing today to appeal his sentence.

It’s an outrageous thing to do to someone who’s faithfully served their country and fought to protect it.

This isn’t the first time an event as ridiculous has transpired in the state of NJ.

You might remember we covered a similar story in which a mother of two was arrested for carrying her legally owned firearm into NJ. Or the story of Brian Aitken, who is also living a personal nightmare due to New Jersey’s outrageous gun laws.

It just proves the state has a vendetta against one of the most sacred provisions in our bill of rights.

We can only hope Zahn is issued a pardon for this ridiculous abuse of the law.

For all our soldiers in every branch of the military.  May God bless and keep you.

VA Sends Veterans’ Medical Info To FBI To Get Their Guns Taken Away

Documents obtained by The Daily Caller and interviews with American veterans reveal a shocking government program: The Department of Veterans Affairs is disarming America’s veterans by getting them placed on the FBI’s criminal background-check list.

The VA sends veterans’ personal medical and financial information directly to the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, which can seize their guns in home raids.

Veterans deemed mentally incompetent or financially incapable are finally speaking out about the errors in the system and the fearful harassment they and their families face from the federal government. And it all starts when vets go to the VA to get medical help.

Here’s what we know:

VA medical information is used to block veterans from possessing firearms:

The document, dated Feb. 27, 2012, makes clear the VA must send health information to the FBI for its gun background-check database.
