“We either have a country, or we don’t have a country.”
As promised, Donald Trump released a comprehensive immigration reform plan over the weekend. In it, the presidential candidate lays out how he would have Mexico pay for a wall along the border. He also calls for an end to birthright citizenship for the children of those in the country illegally.
In discussing the topic of illegal immigration on NBC’s Meet the Press on Sunday, Trump told Chuck Todd that he would rescind President Obama’s executive orders on immigration and send illegal immigrants back to their home countries.
“We’re going to keep the families together…but they have to go,” he said.
Todd followed up, asking the candidate, “What if they have no place to go?”
“We will work with them,” Trump said. “They have to go. Chuck, we either have a country, or we don’t have a country.”
