Famous actor Matthew McConaughey is well-known for his Southern charm and incredible acting skills in True Detective and Dallas Buyers Club. He’s been married to his lovely wife Camila Alves since 2012, and they have 3 children together – Levi, Vida, and Livingston. (And he’s also a serious Washington Redskins fan.)
From his recent interview in GQ, it is obvious McConaughey hasn’t accepted the secular progressive worldview of Hollywood elites. He takes the sacred institution of marriage very seriously. Just look at how much he went on about marrying his wife:
We did a lot of reading and talked to a lot of people that had been divorced, a lot of people that had been happily married. We talked to our pastor. In the end, our understanding was, ‘Let’s go make a covenant, with you, me, and God.’
Clearly, they were determined to enter into a life-long commitment to each other:
I had to get to the point where I saw it as more than just the thing to do. I wanted to really want to. You know, I didn’t want it to be a destination; the fun is that we’re on the adventure together. So I spent a lot of time with her. We talked about it spiritually.
In this day in age, it is rare to find such outspokenness about the vital role God and faith plays in our daily lives. Traditional marriage is an institution worth defending, and it’s nice to see Matthew and his wife are pro-marriage and faithful to the Bible.
