Trump Base Revolts Over Signing of Budget Bill

“This is the day that The Swamp won”

Donald Trump’s base of hardcore supporters is in uproar over his decision to sign a $1.3 trillion spending measure which puts more money towards walls being built in other countries than the wall that was Trump’s centerpiece campaign promise.

Despite suggesting he would veto the bill earlier in the day, Trump signed it hours later while complaining that in future he would call on Congress to, “give me a line item veto for all government spending bills.”

Trump said the $1.6 billion the bill made available for the wall along the Mexican border only equates to “short term funding, but it’s immediate.”

“We’re going to be starting work literally on Monday” on border wall projects, Trump said.

These words did little to silence the concerns of Trump’s base, which reacted with a mixture of deep disappointment and outright fury.

“March 23, 2018. This is the day that The Swamp won. Trump surrendered,” tweeted Mark Pantano.

This is the day that The Swamp won.

Trump surrendered.

“I will never sign another bill like this again.” Yeah, because you’ll be impeached,” chided Ann Coulter.

Yeah, because you’ll be impeached.

Coulter went on to point out that the bill does more for building walls in other countries than the one Trump promised during his campaign.

“MASSIVE DEFENSE SPENDING to induct transgenders & build BIG BEAUTIFUL walls … in Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, and Tunisia,” tweeted the conservative author.

“It might be my memory, or maybe I’m just getting hard of hearing, but I don’t recall chants of “dramatically increase military funding” and “protect dreamers” at Trump’s campaign events,” remarked Stefan Molyneux, who described the package as the “swamp spending bill”.

“If the bill is all about military funding why not just do a clean military funding bill?” asked Jack Posobiec.

If the bill is all about military funding why not just do a clean military funding bill?

“So I’m pissed off. You should be too. Enough is enough,” tweeted another popular pro-Trump account

Thomas Paine @Thomas1774Paine

So I’m pissed off. You should be too.
Enough is enough.

The negative reaction was so widespread that Trump signing the bill could turn out to be even more unpopular than his decision to strike Syria last year.

Matt Drudge summed up the mood with a black and white photo of Trump above the words “fake veto”.

The thing about American politics is that when majority desire for
certain action is demanded it is played like a fast game of
racquet ball and you have a stiff neck. You see your fake side
loosing but when the pain subsides with the calming effects of
voting and another game starts with a promising outcome the
devil laughs and the result is a more costly outcome and the
money goes to what you do not really want and more of it than
before. I wonder if Donald will pull a rabbit out of his hat or a
skunk, be prepared for both while you wait and see, suicide is
not and option as it is a leftist form of violence they wish on
the right. No we are not crazy, looking into the vortex of the
District of Criminals never makes you happy. Divine intervention
    may be in the making…………………William

  2. As I write this, President Trump has just signed the so called omnibus spending bill. President Trump, you have just signed away your second term as President, your ability to hold anything of value over Congress to obtain your agenda of a border wall, deporting illegals and doing anything with the DACA issue. I just read that you are demanding that Congress give you a line-item veto. Are you nuts??? What on earth do you have to hold their feet to the fire with??? Nothing, Nothing, Nothing. You have now given Congress a green light to do whatsoever they please. The RINO’s in Congress could not be happier. They have finally defeated you. The Deep State has won. Obama and Hillary are celebrating. We are back to business as usual. Democrats will win a majority in Congress this November (2018) and will win by a landslide in 2020. I guess I should say that you and We The People tried. Right now I am just so disappointed. The fight was intense. But the Populist movement is dead just as Bannon said it would be when he left the White House. May the Lord have mercy on us.

  3. The fears many of us had concerning Trump’s appointees are finally being realized as true with signing of this bill, i’m sorry to say. Thankfully, my hope is not in man.
