Harvard Study: Two Thirds Of Americans Believe Mainstream Media Is ‘Fake News’

“Much of the media is now just another part of the partisan divide in the country.”

A Harvard University study has confirmed that a majority of Americans across the political spectrum believe that the mainstream media publishes ‘fake news’.

The survey found that a whopping 65 percent of voters do not trust the media, and concur with President Trump that the likes of CNN and the Washington Post push false information.

The poll indicated that 80 percent of Republicans, 60 percent of independents and 53 percent of Democrats all share the opinion. The results were provided exclusively to The Hill.

The authors of the study also noted that it seems to be the media’s obsession with attacking Trump over anything and everything, even though most topics are non-issues, that is driving the backlash.

“Much of the media is now just another part of the partisan divide in the country with Republicans not trusting the ‘mainstream’ media and Democrats seeing them as reflecting their beliefs,” said Harvard-Harris co-director Mark Penn.

“Every major institution from the presidency to the courts is now seen as operating in a partisan fashion in one direction or the other.” Penn added.

The latest poll comes on the heels of another Harvard study that discovered the media is overwhelmingly bias against Trump in its coverage.

The Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy collated statistics from media coverage ranging across 10 mainstream television news networks, as well as print newspapers, and found that some of those media organisations broached stories about Trump with a negative tone in up to 98% of reports.

  1. The MSM really lies.
Just about everything I get in my email features an unflattering image of President Trump and some hyperbole exaggerating or inventing a “BOMBSHELL”, or “FACEBOOK EXPLODES”
i only wish Facebook would explode 😉

Even on FOX, they can’t pass up an opportunity to remark about what they wish Trump had said or what he should have done.

    Twisting and spinning.

The press are talking heads who say what they are instructed to say, and their handlers are partners with the DC Establishment.

    This healthcare debacle is stunning,
and the objections to vetting and the Wall are perplexing.

They all are so afraid of the lobbyists and the Clintons, and don’t give a crap about “We The People”

It’s such a dishonor to the dead patriots we’re supposed to be memorializing.

    GO TRUMP!

  2. The administration, as well as anyone whose been singled out for abuse, should sue. And that applies to the printed media as well. They’ll never take the point, but bankrupting them sure will put an end to the socialist propaganda.

  3. I rarely read the MSM anymore, but I’ve been really sadly disappointed in even the bloggers and right-wing media I’ve trusted for years. It seems journalism, or straightforward writing, has died. There are so many headlines, whether sensationalistic or not, that grab attention, but the accompanying article says something quite different from the come-on headline listed on the newsletter. Or the story was written so shoddily or quickly that key pieces of info are not provided, and I’m left with more questions after reading than I even thought of beforehand. I think the internet, while great for most info, has caused so much competition to be the first or the fastest, that less attention is placed on good writing than speed of writing.
