BY MATTHEW PEARSON FOR CHURCHMILITANT.COM
NEW YORK, September 26, 2015 (ChurchMilitant.com) – A scandal has erupted in the Big Apple after last night’s Papal Mass at Madison Square Garden, where a famous open homosexual served as lector during Pope Francis’ Mass.
Mo Rocca, an American comedian, actor and journalist, well known for his role on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, and now a commentator for CBS, admitted his homosexuality during a podcast interview in 2011.
The then 42-year-old Rocca spoke of his joy at being in New York at the site of the Stonewall Riots, when gay “marriage” was passed in New York state, after two Knights of Columbus tipped the vote in the legislature.
Rocca said, “You gotta’ be there for a piece of history like that. … [It] was very memorable and emotional and a great place to be.”
After publicly announcing his homosexuality and support for gay “marriage,” because of his fame Rocca quickly skyrocketed in popularity among LGBT activist circles.
When Rocca appeared on live news feeds last night as the lector for the Papal Mass, Twitter blew up with scandalous praise as everyone saw this as the Church’s — and specifically Pope Francis’ — acceptance of homosexuality and gay marriage.
Before people jump to irrational conclusions, we must keep in mind that it is beyond improbable that Pope Francis even knew Mo Rocca’s name let alone that he was a famous homosexual. After all, Pope Francis admitted in an interview that he gave up watching television in 1990 and he greatly struggles with the english language.
But among the people that would’ve known are first and foremost His Eminence, the cardinal archbishop of New York City, Timothy Dolan, who literally sat idly by as Rocca read the first reading with Pope Francis and dozens of cardinals and archbishops staring on.
Liturgy directors are entirely responsible for the management of people, places and things during major archdiocesan events such as this.
Many questions and frustrations still remain as to why, out of all the Catholics in New York City, a famous, open homosexual was chosen?
At the end of the day, it is Cdl. Dolan who must take ultimate responsibility for approving the decision to have Rocca as lector, and for failing to vet those people who publicly appeared at the Mass alongside Pope Francis. Neither can Dolan claim ignorance, considering the celebrity status of Mo Rocca in New York and nationwide.
How involved were prelates of the USCCB in organizing the Papal Mass, and did they have a direct role in picking Rocca to publicly represent the Catholic faith in front of millions watching at home?
Whatever the truth of the matter may be, Rocca was not picked because he’s a Spanish-speaking Catholic born of Colombian and Italian descent. He was chosen because of his open homosexuality and his support of gay “marriage” by revolutionaries within the archdiocese trying to push change to Church teaching. And Cdl. Dolan, as head of the archdiocese, is responsible for giving final approval.

Talk about a research breakthrough! Scientists have just discovered a group of people who lie more than politicians.
And it’s the folks running thousands of our country’s restaurants!
Eighty percent of the largest restaurant chains in America — the same companies that claim they’re offering you healthy eating options — are hiding a dirty secret about their food.
They’re loading your meat and chicken with dangerous levels of prescription antibiotics.
And if you’re not careful, your next trip to the drive-through — or to your favorite sit-down restaurant — could end with a belly full of drugs.
And a health disaster waiting to happen.
Health food flunkies
Better ingredients? Not so fast, Papa John.
“Quality is our recipe”? Not when your hamburgers are laced with prescription drugs, Wendy’s.
A coalition of public health organizations, including Consumers Union and the Center for Food Safety, recently handed out grades to the top 25 restaurant chains on whether they use antibiotics in their beef and poultry — and whether they tell us the truth about it.
And I hope you’ve already sworn off lots of these places, because things got ugly fast. Both Papa John’s and Wendy’s joined 18 other chains that completely flunked (I’ll give you the full list in a moment).
I’ve been warning you for years that our overexposure to antibiotics was creating new, deadly superbugs that are nearly impossible to cure.
But most of us are so busy trying to keep our docs from prescribing antibiotics for every sore throat or sniffle that we don’t realize we may be getting a heavy dose of the meds every time we eat out.
You see, 80 percent of the antibiotics sold in America are dumped into animal feed. And it’s not because these factory farms care about keeping poor Bessie healthy, either.
It’s because they discovered years ago that force-feeding animals antibiotics makes them gain weight so they can be sold for more cash at slaughter.
But these drugs end up right in our food supply, and you end up eating them every time you order a Whopper at Burger King, a roast beef sandwich at Subway, or fat T-bone steak at Outback or Applebee’s.
Can you believe it? These same companies will tell you exactly how many calories are in every meal or whether your favorite dish has gluten.
But while they claim they’re being transparent and are trying to give you healthy eating options, they’re moving heaven and earth to make sure you never know there are drugs in your meat.
Well, if you want to eat out and avoid repeated doses of tetracycline in your lunch, you can head over to Chipotle or Panera Bread. Both of these chains pulled down an “A” grade in the new report.
And that’s not only responsible, it’s powerful.
These chains purchase meat by the ton. So when they tell factory farmers that they’re done with antibiotics in meat, those farmers either change their ways or lose millions.
Panera and Chipotle have proven that this change is possible. So has Chick-fil-A, which got a B grade for trying to limit antibiotics in its food.
Now imagine if all 25 of these chains swore off antibiotic meat. I’m not sure it would exactly make their food healthy — or taste any better — but it would bring a tsunami of change to the factory farm industry.
And it just might save us from going straight down the tubes of worldwide antibiotic failure.
For example, on the Olive Garden website, they claim they “want you to love everything you eat at Olive Garden.” That sounds like a pretty clear invitation to tell Olive Garden management that we would love to eat antibiotic-free food.
It’s also a perfect time to have a one-on-one with Wendy, Papa John, the Colonel, and all the rest. If you eat at any of these places, send them e-mails, post to their Facebook pages, or try mailing a good, old-fashioned handwritten note.
Believe me, they’ve seen their failing grades splashed all over the media. Tell them it’s time to make serious changes to the food they’re serving us — or you’re going to start making some changes to where you eat.
To Your Good Health,
P.S. As promised, here are all the companies that were studied in this recent report and how they fared. Chipotle and Panera both received As, with Chick-fil-A pulling down a B. Dunkin’ Donuts and McDonald’s got Cs. Companies that failed include Wendy’s, Burger King, Denny’s, Domino’s Pizza, Papa John’s, Starbucks, Olive Garden, Subway, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, KFC, Applebee’s, Sonic, Chili’s, Jack in the Box, Arby’s, Dairy Queen, IHOP, Outback and Little Caesars.

Forget Oregon’s Gunman. Remember the Hero Who Charged Straight at Him.
No amount of murder seems likely to result in gun control any time soon. So let’s do what we can to stop the lunacy—by reserving the limelight for the vet who rushed Thursday’s shooter.
Forget the 26-year-old zero who murdered 10 innocents at Umpqua Community College on Thursday morning.
The one to remember is 30-year-old Chris Mintz, the student and Army vet who was shot at least five times while charging straight at the gunman in an effort to save others.
Mintz did so on the sixth birthday of his son, Tyrik.
“It’s my son’s birthday, it’s my son’s birthday,” he was heard saying as he lay wounded.
When word of Mintz’s heroism reached his kin in his native North Carolina, his cousin Derek Bourgeois was hardly surprised.
“It sounds like something he would do,” Bourgeois said.
Bourgeois was somewhat amazed that a guy who survived a combat deployment without serious injury had come so close to being killed in a small Oregon town not unlike the one in North Carolina where they grew up together.
Bourgeois said he and Mintz had both joined the Army after graduating from high school. Bourgeois had been stationed in Fort Bragg, but Mintz had been sent to Fort Lewis in Washington state. They had both been deployed.
After leaving the Army, Mintz had moved to Oregon and done a bit of mixed martial arts. He had been working at the local YMCA while he enrolled at the community college with an eye toward becoming a fitness trainer.
“He’s a big guy,” the cousin noted.
Mintz did not forget his former comrades in the Army. He marked the seventh anniversary of the death of Army Capt. Richard Gordon Jr. in Afghanistan by posting a photo and a bio of the fallen officer on Facebook.
“‘To the limit.’ Sir, you are not forgotten,” Mintz wrote in the Sept. 28 post.
Think of Chris Mintz, who was shot while rushing a killer on his son’s sixth birthday. Forget the zero and remember the hero.
On Thursday, Mintz began the day with a post that marked the happiest of anniversaries.
“Happy birthday, Tyrik,” he wrote.
Mintz then headed to UCC and his first week of classes. He did just what his cousin would have expected him to do when the gunman began firing.
The other students present in those horrific moments included a woman who is a nurse. She began administering CPR in a desperate attempt to save one of the mortally wounded. She then held Mintz’s hand and prayed with him while he said again and again that it was his son’s birthday.
Ambulances marked “Douglas County Fire District No. 2” responded to the scene. The area’s biggest concern in recent days had been what just a spark can start in wildfire season. Roseburg had now been struck by a danger that can strike any part of America in any season.
For the 40th time this year, the 141st time since the Sandy Hook massacre, a gunman had opened fire in a school. A number of the firefighters had studied to become paramedics at the college. They now set to using what they had learned.
At the hospital, Mintz underwent at least one surgery. His cousin reports that he is expected to recover.
“From what I’m hearing, he’s fine,” the cousin said. “But he’s going to have to learn to walk again.”
Of course, there were other instances of great courage at UCC, just as there were at Columbine High School and Sandy Hook Elementary School and the Aurora movie theater and the Charleston church and seemingly all the other mass shootings.
Yet it is the killers whose names become part of our history.
And it is hard not to think that the desire to become more than a lonely loser motivates the gunman.
The latest killer wrote in a blog about the failed TV reporter turned killer who contrived to murder two former co-workers in the midst of a live shot.
“On an interesting note, I have noticed that so many people like him are all alone and unknown, yet when they spill a little blood, the whole world knows who they are,” the UCC killer-to-be wrote on Aug. 31.
He went on: “A man who was known by no one, is now known by everyone. His face splashed across every screen, his name across the lips of every person on the planet, all in the course of one day. Seems the more people you kill, the more you’re in the limelight.”
A month and a day later, the killer made his own murderous play to become known. He packed four guns and sought all the limelight he could, killing nine innocents before he himself was killed during an exchange with two courageous police officers.
In the evening, Douglas County Sheriff John Hanlin held a press conference. Hanlin said he would leave it to the coroner’s office to identify the killer.
“I will not give him the credit he probably sought,” Hanlin said of the killer. “You will never hear me use his name.”
The coroner will be obliged to issue an official identification, and news organizations will be obliged to report it.
But if you hear it, forget that Chris in that very instant.
Think of Chris Mintz, who was shot while rushing a killer on his son’s sixth birthday.
Forget the zero and remember the hero.
Also remember those two brave cops and the others who showed uncommon courage.
And honor the memory of the murdered innocents, who leave us with an obligation to do something to stop this madness.
As no amount of murder seems likely to result in real gun control any time soon, we can begin by reserving the limelight only for those who save lives and for those whose lives are taken.
Forget the zeroes and remember the heroes.

BY VICTOR SKINNER FOR EAGNEWS.COM
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Mounting criticism of Islam lessons in Tennessee public schools convinced the American Center for Law & Justice to request details on the curriculum in the state’s 146 school districts.
But an attorney representing several school districts and the state’s superintendents association is providing a sample letters for school to reject the requests based on a technicality in Tennessee law, The Tennessean reports.
Attorney Chuck Cagle with the Lewis Thomason law firm wrote a sample letter for the 70-plus Tennessee school districts he represents to reject the open records requests submitted by the ACLJ earlier this month.
“Our client denies your request in full,” the letter reads. “Among many other defects in your demand, the Tennessee Open Records Act only requires that certain public records be made available for personal inspection by Tennessee citizens.
“See Tenn. Code Ann. § 10-7-503(a)(1)(B). A public records request made by an agent on behalf of a foreign business entity is invalid. Without waiving numerous other defects in your demand, your request is denied.”
Cagle also claims the request would cost Tennessee schools a lot of money to retrieve the records requested.
“On the front end, this could cost school boards hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars to respond to this request,” he told WSMV.
The ACLJ’s records requests are part of a broader effort by the nonprofit to educate Tennessee parents about lessons on Islam taught in public schools that’s also included a recent public service video, according to the news site.
“Imagine your child or grandchild forced to recite the Islamic conversion creed in school,” the video voiceover said. “It’s happening. In Tennessee, public middle school students are being taught to write, ‘Allah is the only God.’”
More than 200,000 people have also signed an ACLJ petition to stop “Islamic indoctrination in schools, according to the news site.
The issue came to a boil this month when St. Juliet pastor Greg Locke created a video posted online that called on students to “take an F” on their Sept. 11 test on Islam. Locke pointed out that local schools devote three weeks of lessons to Islam – with dozens of textbook pages on the religion – while largely ignoring Christianity, EAGnews reports.
“Let me tell you something, when they are in sixth grade they get a half a page of watered down Christianity that has about as much Bible as a thimble, if you will, and now there’s 28 pages they have to learn about Islam, and Mohammad, and how it all came about, and about the holy Koran, and the Five Pillars of Islam, and how they pray, and when they pray, and where they pray, and how they pray, and why they pray, and about pilgrimages and all this and then they say that Allah is the only God,” Locke said in the video, which quickly went viral.
Islamic leaders, of course, are defending the lessons on Islam, while state officials claim Tennessee education standards require schools to teach about all the major world religions, though curriculum decisions are made locally.
“I don’t know if this is meant to be a witch hunt, but all of the religions – Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism Hinduism – they’re being taught in the schools,” Rashed Fakhruddin, head of the Islamic Center of Nashville, told WSMV.
The ACLJ requested school assignments in which students recite prayers, chant or speak in Arabic from all of the state’s 146 school districts. And while Cagle is advising many on how to avoid the request, the Tennessee School Boards Association is also weighing in.
“I think the concern initially was the sheer magnitude and scope of the request,” TSBA attorney Randall Bennett said. “It was massive.”
Cagle said he expects ACLJ to work with a local resident to resubmit its records requests, and he’s already working to shame the effort.
“If we get valid records requests, school system employees will be pulled off other assignments and have to pull these documents together or produce the documents,” he said.
The uproar about lessons on Islam aren’t restricted to Tennessee. Hundreds of parents in Georgia are also outraged by similar lessons and plan to vent their frustrations at a Walton County school board meeting next month, EAGnews reports.

A senior cleric of the Russian Orthodox Church has said his church fully supports Moscow’s plan to render military aid to the Syrian government. He added representatives of other major religions would throw their weight behind the anti-terrorist effort.
“We have an inter-religious council in Russia and I can say with confidence – the coming statement of this body that unites Orthodox Christians, Muslims, Jews and Buddhists will support our state’s decision. The decision with which our state again assumes a special role in the Middle East and in particular in Syria,” Vsevolod Chaplin told reporters on Wednesday.
He also noted the decision not only fully complied with the norms of international law, but also mirrored the views of most Russian people.
“The active position of our country has always been connected with protection of the weak and oppressed, like the Middle East Christians who are now experiencing a real genocide. Russia’s role has always been in protecting peace and justice for all Mideast peoples.”
He stressed the main objective behind the operation in Syria was not in fulfilling some political or economic ambitions but in protecting the weak. “Terrorism is immoral and we need to protect those who are being driven from their lands by war,” Chaplin noted.
He also emphasized that terrorism was the most significant threat humanity is currently facing. “Whatever they are trying to justify terrorism with, it cannot be justified. Thus, any fight against terrorism is moral, we can even call it a holy fight,” Chaplin told reporters.
Earlier on Wednesday, Russia’s upper house unanimously voted to fulfill President Putin’s request to use the nation’s military in Syria to fight terrorism. As the head of the presidential administration, Sergey Ivanov announced the news to the mass media, emphasizing Russia would not be involved in any ground operation – aid would only be in the form of airstrikes.
Ivanov also noted the president’s request for the use of military forces abroad had been prompted by the fact that a relatively large number of Russian citizens had joined the terrorist groups in Syria, and these people could potentially pose a threat to Russia’s national security.
President Putin called the operation in Syria “preemptive strikes against terrorists.” He explained that radicals from many countries of the world, including Russia, have flocked to Iraq and Syria to join the Islamic State terrorists. The president said they must all be defeated there and not allowed to return to their home countries.
Putin also added that Moscow was interested in other nations joining its counterterrorism effort in Syria, in particular by working with the intelligence sharing center in Baghdad, which Russia, Syria, Iraq and Iran established in the run-up to the operation.

Armed Air Force Vet Was Prevented From Stopping Oregon Gunman
“The staff wouldn’t let us go to assist”
John Parker was situated in a building about 200 yards away from where the shooting began.
“There were a few people in the vet center and then when we heard the shooting happened, we got up and we were gonna go out and see what we could do,” Parker told Fox News’ Sean Hannity.
“Immediately the school staff stopped us and told us to get inside of the building….essentially the staff wouldn’t let us go to assist,” he added.
One courageous man who also tried to apprehend the shooter, Army veteran Chris Mintz, ended up being shot five times. Mintz was unarmed.
In asserting his right to concealed carry, Parker was knowingly violating a rule which declared the college to be a gun free zone.
As we reported yesterday, a post on the college website made it clear that even water pistols were banned on campus.
The single security officer working on the campus was also unarmed, according to the Associated Press.
Meanwhile, as news emerges that the gunman, 26-year-old Chris Harper Mercer, was a potential Islamist sympathizer who dabbled in the occult, expect the left to lose interest in the incident quickly.
The fact that Mercer is mixed race will also make it impossible for progressives to blame the shooting on all white people, as many did in the aftermath of the Dylann Roof shooting.
Mercer reportedly targeted Christians during the shooting, asking victims about their religion and shooting anyone who identified as a Christian in the head.
“[He started] asking people one by one what their religion was. ‘Are you a Christian?’ he would ask them, and if you’re a Christian stand up. And they would stand up and he said, ‘Good, because you’re a Christian, you are going to see God in just about one second.’ And then he shot and killed them,” Stacy Boylen, whose daughter was wounded at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Ore., told CNN.
